My iPod just shed a tear.
To be fair, when Steve Jobs was alive people were criticizing him from a job viewpoint. People have the right to recognize him as an outstanding inventor and a wonderful addition to the world of technology. Having him gone will be a shame, especially since he represented Apple so much.
He was good at what he did, running a company and setting up questionable marketing strategies, some which made him look like an asshole ("I'm a mac" campaign). To some he is seen as an idol, to others a good example of how to do things and to others, he's the spawn of satin. Really all it was, is the Marmite effect, either love it or hate it with him. Now that he's gone though I wont be surprised if Apple's stocks plummet for a bit then recover, hell they still are doing just that when he originally left before he passed away. Personally I couldn't care less about this but someone out there will be crying as they've lost a god or something.
Well.. Apple will never be the same with Steve's visionary ideas.
As much as I disliked apple (damn price gougers), Steve Jobs was still an insanely awsome man and should be remembered as such. Funny thing is, this will probably be remembered more than 9/11 or the Rwanda Genocide, or something similar.
Not a hell of a lot of proof behind this one, besides the company "saying so"
Yeah because people ALWAYS fake being dead from pancreatic cancer at the age of 56 EVERY DAY.
I didn't particularly like iOS, but everything about Apple was Steve's vision. He and Woz created the personal computer revolution, and by extension, his innovation and talent inspired the likes of Windows and Android alike. RIP Steve Jobs, one of the greatest minds of our era.
A brilliant man and technological revolutionary is no longer with us.
The homepage looks so cool.

Vote page on memebase is nothing but Steve Jobs jokes
just because you don't like his marketing strategies doesn't mean you hate the person
He sued plenty of small buisinesses/schools and families for literally NO reason. mega-asshole.
Wasn't exactly a big fan of Mac, Apple, or iProducts, but Steve Jobs was a brilliant man with a great business idea and vision. Rest in peace.

His "asshole" marketing strategies were normally brilliant and are largely why the iPod managed to stomp all the other mp3 players that were more advanced. I think that no matter how you feel towards Apple you have to admit that he was one of the most successful people of the past 100 years.
Damn, I feel bad for his family. He's had a big impact on personal computers. It really wouldn't be the same if Apple wouldn't have done what it did in it's early days. PC fanboys will be reluctant to admit this, but it is true.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Apple pioneer GUI?
I'm not a fan of Apple, but I can't deny he was a foremost technological innovator of our time who's systems influenced personal computing as we know it today, and much more. RIP man, 56 is too young
RIP. He was one of the best business men in the history of America.
If you haven't seen, Google's homepage has a direct link to Apple with a note about Steve Jobs under the search box.
Just to compensate his life, I will buy his recently released IPhone 4S and replace my IPhone 4.
But, but... In Deus Ex: HR civilians talk about Bill Gates and Steve Jobs hanging out. $20 says Steve is bro-ing it up with Elvis in Area 51.
If you haven't seen, Google's homepage has a direct link to Apple with a note about Steve Jobs under the search box.
apple.com is down for me. Damn, certainly didnt expect to see this today.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Apple pioneer GUI?
Yeah. Apple 'invented' drop down menus for one. They were the first to have an operating system with an actual GUI instead of a command line interface as far as I know.
RIP Steve, thank you for everything.
I hate Apple, but I respected Steve Jobs. He was one of the best businessmen on the planet. He built what recently became the biggest company (in revenue at least) not long ago and I respect that as well. He seemed like a more down to earth guy than many other men in similar positions (Steve Ballmer anyone?), and I liked him for that. His "original" clothing style (original for a man of his position) also made me think better of him than many others. The world has lost a great man. Rest Peacefully.
This. I grew up on Windows 95 and up, and I really never liked the apple products or even the idea of being so limited with them, but he really did move the world forward. I think he faked his death so he could watch the world see how he is remembered before he actually dies. Its what I would do if given enough money.
Introducing Apples new product, iResurrect
For the first time in a long long time, I dont know what to say. This is shocking

iReincarnate (Steve was a Buddhist.)
Damn, I feel bad for his family. He's had a big impact on personal computers. It really wouldn't be the same if Apple wouldn't have done what it did in it's early days. PC fanboys will be reluctant to admit this, but it is true.
No one should be reluctant to admit this. Sure Apple overcharges and has questionable legal teams, but no one can deny it is innovative, largely thanks to Jobs himself. I don't think Android would have been made if iOS hadn't came first, same with the PC and the Mac.
