The Captain of the Magellan responds to the Voyager, noticeable excitement in the captain's voice.
Incredibly excited to see a new system, let's get this show on the road shall we?
Declare Capella.
Very much so. We're revving up the engines right now.
Beta Proximus Declare. [editline]30th June 2012[/editline] Also, I'm putting a cap non Systems right now. No more systems are to be made.
Good job, Magellan. My first officer tells me that at our current yield, we'll be able to make the trip to Votto Prime in 3 cycles (turns). Captain Goodhall out.
Declare Votto Prime. The Tau Merchant Class Ship is completed! The mining barge deposits its materials on Seginus and refuels at the same time, then it goes back for another trip. Advancements: The production for a large ship has started. (8 Turns)
The Engineering team On-board the voyager begins working on finishing the protein re-sequencers, so that food may be created out of other organic compounds. It'll be done in 20 turns.
Hmm. When I said Rift gate, what happens is I simply open a gate to a long hallway, enter said hallway, "walk" along, and then exit said hallway. No, it's not instant speed. I just thought what I coincidence if every planet comes up with this faster-than-light warp speed and all name it the same thing. If you are picky, I can just re-name it Warp Module. All it does is allowing for faster travel for long distances. I never mentioned I was using this other person's rift tech (Sorry, can't remember your username) That's all. Anyway, declare.
Oh, well, that's basically Warp. :v: Good job, technobabble
Declare. The Cigar-Shaped Object picks up the Radio transmission , but cannot reply , since Its transmission equipment is damaged. They begin repairing it , and the Clunking noise intensifies. It becomes apparent that the clunking noise is the sound of frantic repairs. Work begins on repurposing a Lifepod as an Impromptu Mining vessel. Research : Long range Communications ( 1 / 10 ) Building : Small mining vessel ( 1 / 20 )(Length because resources need to be mined first) Dammit , sorry for not seeing declare.
The smaller ships are returning with full hulls. Once they get back, they'll be taken into dock to be upgraded to the newer ship type. The new ship is now off to start mining to collect more resources for some large inter-stellar travel ships. The "Warp" modules are busy being made. While its all well and good though to start the speed yourself, scientists realise they can use the gravitational fields of the Daruuk and Terra Amoris to slingshot them, basically giving them a jump-start when jumping (this slingshot thing is actually in our Solar system too. A "highway", of sorts, to quickly exit the solar system.) (It's all right if I research long-range comms, right? As in, the ansible, if there are any Orson Scott Card readers here.) Old ships: Come back with resources (1 turn) New Ship: Collect resources (2 turns) Warp Module: Get it ready!!! (4 turns)
Votto Prime Declare [editline]30th June 2012[/editline] A warp anomaly occurs as does when a ship exits warp, and the Voyager drops to thrusters.
This is Captain Newhall, calling the Magellan. Are you still in warp?
Pictureless Declare. The Tau notice the visitors to their humble system and hail the Voyager.
Greetings. We are the Tau Empire. You have entered our small sector, and if you have good intentions, we welcome you with open arms, for the Greater Good recognizes all species, and we hope that we can establish peaceful connections with you and your people. We are currently building a military base in this small sector, which seems to be quite bountiful with resources, and we hope to trade with you so that we may boost both of our economies. I notice that you vessel is unarmed and I assume it is built for exploration purposes. Feel free to chart this sector in your records, and we hope to see you again.
Advancements: Large Ship. (5 Turns)
The Voyager responds.
It is good to see another humanoid race. We are part of a joint exploration mission with our humanoid neighbors. We do, however regret to inform you that your judgment of our ship was misguided. The Voyager has a retracting particle cannon, and one missile bay at the front base of its body. Although you should not worry, as these are simply for defense of the ship.

I see. Very well, then. We hope to forge a continued communication relationship between you. Perhaps trade routes or an alliance is in order. While we are not necessarily bound to this system, we are not prepared to leave until we have a fully functioning combat fleet in order. Once our main vessel is completed, we intend to use our gravitic drives to visit other systems, but we may need to make use of refueling stations or other resources to ensure that we do not get stranded in a hostile environment.
Pictureless declare: The old ships have returned to the planet to drop off materials and get renovated. The newer ship has started mining. Now that the materials are back, we can devote more time into warp testing. A specific ship is being built to fully utilise the power of the module, but should be applicable on all the newer ships anyway Get the old ships renovated (2 turns) Newer ship mining (1 turn) Warp Module (2 turns) Create a Medium Warper (5 turns)
Perhaps a trade route is in order. Our system is only a few light years away. We had just revolutionized space travel on our worlds, as we have invented the warp drive and successfully achieved and exceeded light speed. We managed to get here in 3 cycles, although I'm sure you're able to go faster.

Yes, Tau gravitic drives are highly efficient. It takes us a mere 2 cycles to re-route our gravitic sheathes in a way that projects outward and around our fleet to jump from system to system. We have never been able to understand Warp Travel, and we find that this technology is more than sufficient enough for the time being.
Pictureless declare The newer ship has returned from the asteroid, and has deposited the materials needed. The older ships are half-way renovated, just the fuel is being created for it. Now, something has made itself known to the warp scientists. Space-time. It isn't a new concept. It simply said that everything in the universe laid on a "sheet" of space-time. ((Space-time is a lot like cloth, so if you dropped a planet on one, it would of course create a dimple. That's what gravity is. the moon on earth actually isn't attached by a string, it simply rolls around the edge of this dimple. If something VERY heavy laid on it, then it would tear like cloth as well. That's what a black hole is, a tear in the fabric of the universe.)) Now, the scientists are actually thinking, "Can we make our own hole in spacetime?" Because like cloth, you can fold spacetime, and make two point meet. if you tore these two places, then you create a worm-hole. Now, the scientists know that the actual resources to make these tears would be extravagant, like setting off several imploding-nuclear bombs. But they think eh, it looks alright. This is at the moment only Science, not in the technology and implementation stage. But it looks cool ((Sorry for that. What do you think? Could I do this? I know that the cost to make a tear would be extremely high, but it might be worth it. Too OP? Or alright?)) Send newer ship on another mining cycle (3 turns) New ships being created (Next turn) Warp! (1 turn) A theory on tearing holes in spacetime, a very real substance. Google it (???? turns) Medium warper (4 turns)
Declare As the Vectorians converse with the Tau, a second warp-rift opens, a damaged ship lumbers out, coming to a halt behind the voyager.
Voyager, this is the Magellan, our warp bubble destabilized before we could exit and we have taken damage on our outer decks, we are currently taking damage control checks while we see if we have any losses. How have you fared?
Damnit Shisno xD Undeclare for now.
Pictureless Declare [editline]1st July 2012[/editline] The scientists aboard Habitation 003 turn their attention towards the anomaly on the other side of their system. Though they do not know it, the technology is Ansalai. Habitation 003 was under heavy attack before they managed to fold to their current position in the galaxy. In the attack, several critical systems were damaged, and though they were able to repair nearly all of the damage, one critical component was lost -- the master communications card. Without it, there was no way to contact any of the other 246 stations presumably scattered throughout the three galaxies. They were presumed dead by the 182 surviving stations of the Unnamed War; at least they were until The Habitat, with the benefit of the technologies found in their assigned sector of space, lead a great army to drive out the unnamed aggressors and discovered no sign of their wreckage. But over the generations, the citizens of Habitation 003 have grown apart from the government of their ancestors, and for the first time in nearly 800 of their years, there is a division in the Ansalai. (this whole speech is to basically say that though there will be contact with Salan, the home system of the Ansalai, it's to function like the portal to Sol did in the last thread (also maybe to unleash a Reaper/Borg-like race on you later on))
Declare. The largest freighter moves so it is just above the unidentified device and powers off its engines. Suddenly the device shoots a blinding yellow light into the engine compartment of the freighter, whatever it is, it is now powering up and will be done soon.
Declare The new ships have now been sent up from dock. Each small ship is equipped with one normal mining laser, two tesla guns for close range skirmishes in space, and two homing missiles. It also has a module slot, currently empty, waiting for the Warp module to be tested. It's powered on several nuclear reactors for close range flying, and also features for long range travel a Grav. Module, as to preserve inertia over large distances. The medium ship is still mining. The newer Warp ship is still in production. Scientists are still researching the ripping of space-time, and have reached the speculation stage. They claim they'll need a lot more time before they can show what they have found Goals: Send new ship on cycle: (2 turns) Two new small ships on mining cycles (2 turns) Create the Warp vehicle (3 turns) Space time research (20 turns)
Will, you can/should just revert your planets back. The asteroids looked fine, and I think it's stupid to whine that a beginner's planet doesn't look as good as others.
:/ I like the style. EDIT: Fair enough. I'll change the asteroids to more asteroid looking things, and I can make some other planet thing. I'll put it up when its done.
It's nice but it looks more like a bunch of stars or an abstract painting. Plasma Beaming [4/5] Temporal Manipulation [3/11]
