Personally, I'd rather not have my mistake acknowledged and instead let me sort out my mess in peace. In my experience here in Sweden, applauding and cheering when it happen is something kids or young teens do - and is ultimately frowned upon, since it seems to be more intended to mock the one who dropped something. But eh, cultural differences, I guess.

Ah yes us Scandinavians excel at that one
The cheering is not that common in my country but you'll see it time and time again if you're in good company
I do love Jolly Ol' Blighty
I've heard lots of cheering over the years in places in the us. Sometimes it's just one person though so I bet they seem like a huge dick for cheering.
I've never known that cheering when [sp]someone drops a glass[/sp] is a thing. :what:
That's a very common thing in America, if anyone drops a pint, plate, anything breakable, people cheer and applause.

You Swedes are just no fun that's why.
The cheering when somebody smashes something isn't really a pitying "Whaaaay! Oh how terrible but slightly funny, oh I do feel bad for smiling at your misfortune!" like Fry is trying to portray it, but a more piss taking "Whaaaay! That's coming out of your paycheck, look where you going next time you dumb shitmuncher!"

I found that out when I got pissed drunk and knocked one over in Edinburgh and everyone in the bar went 'OHHHHH'
I dunno if others have experienced, but I've had the cheering for broken glassware thing happen enough times to remember. In Aus.
my god, when did his hair start to turn ENTIRELY white?

Not just Swedes, pretty much everything near Baltic and Nordic countries are cold as fuck. However, they aren't so insencere like Brits can be.

lol who the fuck seriously thinks that? probably just you.
its more of a "oh no you dropped it, but no worries!"
if you even think to yourself in sentences like "Whaaaay! Oh how terrible but slightly funny, oh I do feel bad for smiling at your misfortune!" or ""Whaaaay! That's coming out of your paycheck, look where you going next time you dumb shitmuncher!" you must be that one pretentious guy that people always steer away from, no offence
The cheer doesn't happen often in Estonia, but I have joined the minority that does just so it will become a majority.
Going as far as even saying "Bless you" when someone farts.

I will now do this
wait there are people that don't cheer? I thought it was universal
from school to university to work, there's cheering whenever someone drops a glass
I usually disagree about weather with friends. Sometimes I am there in a t-shirt and my friends are in jackets saying "It's freezing!". When I say "It's not too bad..." their reply is usually something along the lines of it's because I'm Polish and being able to take cold weather better. :v:
among friends, yes
strangers or recently acquainted people, motherfucker you do not dispute their original claim no matter how outlandish
