Averages around €10k around here as well. Not exactly PPL related but its quite well reflected in the pilot salaries of the respective region as well. A direct entry 737 FO on a US airline (say Southwest) might earn about $45,000 on his first year. On the other hand a 737 FO on a UK airline (Ryanair) will make an equivalent of about $65,000 on his first year.
Bump if you guys want to continue discussion.
F/A-18 (Classic) Hornet - [t]http://i.imgur.com/J9rNM0i.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/OR8uBiC.jpg[/t] Definitely my favourite aircraft. F-15 Strike Eagle comes at a close second - [t]http://i.imgur.com/F40IT5q.jpg[/t]
My fav combat aircraft is the F14 Tomcat. So sexy
My other favorite aircraft is the AN-225 and Boeing 727. Damn those planes are good. The 727 with it's sleek Tri-Jet engines and the AN-225 looking awesome with the Buran.
My fav combat aircraft is the F14 Tomcat. So sexy
It's a shame that Iran has them instead of america.
This is what happens in winter here
Delta's got those ginger bread cookies, and Allegiant can fuck off the edge of my dick. [t]https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/816bfjAFnfL._SX522_.jpg[/t]
Gonna work on two of these that year
Daily dose of BRRRT inbound... [t]http://i.imgur.com/WiJN3xr.jpg[/t] The A-10 is, and will always be, the best plane.
Its amazing how far have we gotten in terms of Airliner cockpit design/technology over the years. First we have the De Havilland Comet. Basic steam gauges, 6-pack system. Fundamentally similar to what you would get if you were to fly a Cessna 172 or Piper Cherokee. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/0301540.jpg[/t] Then we get the B707, still steam gauge, 6 pack. However you now get the MCP (the panel under the windows) and between the panel and quadrant you get the INS nav and screen for the weather radar. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/0828696.jpg[/t] Years later the Airbus A300 flies into the skies. Integration of most functions into the FMS allows the 6-pack to be replaced by CRT screens. Auto-pilot functions get moved to the MCP and down below the INS has been replaced with MDCU (which instead uses IRS). Weather function is also integrated and is now displayed on the ND screen. Integration also allows for better monitoring of the aircraft via the two screens near the engine instruments. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/14939696814_dc66204e08_b.jpg[/t] Then Boeing's 757/767 take to the skies. Further intergrating engine instruments into the EICAS screen (or EICAM for airbus). [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/1997487.jpg[/t] Airbus modernized it further with the A320 but everything is basically still the same. Apart from LCD screens and Airbus's side stick control. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/8e72044e68db6a6f5bc6401bb4d8c39c.jpg[/t] This 6 screen system became standard and is pretty much what you should expect if you were to fly a generic airline today. B717,737,757,767,777 / A320,330,340. Then the A380 came out with its 8 screen setup. 10 if you count in the OIS or EFB. Now even the MDCU gets integrated into giant screens. Screens are set up in portrait orientation allowing more information to be fed to the pilot. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/0957790.jpg[/t] Boeing later released the 787, with its sleek ass landscape screens. Which are multi functional and its display can be split into two to display two different things on one screen (imagine 2 of the A380 screen combined into one). This time the MDCU gets merged into one bigass MFD screen. These screens practically do everything now I won't be surprised if you can launch and play angry birds on them. The PFD is a screen by itself however the ND and EICAS is now mashed into the same screen. This allows each pilot to get his own PFD, ND and EICAS. EFB at the far ends. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/pNVHUI.jpg[/t] Of course Airbus just can't sit around. Their competition released a sick ass cockpit and what do they do? More bigass screens bitch. What they did was release a surround screen home theater system. In the Airbus philosophy, the PFD and ND gets one screen. While the EICAM gets its own central screen. Unlike the EFB on the 787, the 350s OIS is moved to the front "making it easier to navigate while flying". Also worth mentioning the fact that the OIS has its own bigass screen. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/2362164.jpg[/t] "Sucks to be you we have one more big screen on board"- Airbus CEO And at night it turns into a spaceship [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/acd35e305301f97d9363b1ee3c5b1c4c.jpg[/t] Personally I really like the 787 cockpit, its more cluttered but its has curves and shapes that ear aesthetically very pleasing to my eyes. It looks rather comfortable. Flying a 787 would feel like flying a dreamliner. But the 350 on the other hand is very modern, very brute, no frills and very much German. (Well it is a european company after all.). Its just wonderfully filled with technology. Flying a 350 would probabaly feel like flying a goddamn spaceship.
God those cockpits are sexy as fuck. I'm using PMDG's 777 in FSX and it's fun as hell to learn about the FMS and the different instruments and tool airliners have. Wish they would make A380/787 for FSX.

China's Comac and Canada's Bombardier stepping up the Cockpit game in the narrow-body regional jets as well. With their C919 and CS100 respectively. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/chinascomac.jpg[/t][t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/16659350616_f84b2cbdb1_b.jpg[/t] Boeings 737Max and Japan's Mitsubishi MRJ will also get a similar next-gen setup. Too bad the A320NEO is still the same as before.
Got to Canada by using 4 Airliners. À Airbus A320, a boeing 767, and 2 737. Always à pleasure earing engines starting. Yellowknife is full of Beavers, Twin Otters and Dash 8. A dream
I wonder when we will see a new Concorde like vehicle in the sky.
Kinda related: I'm starting flight college tomorrow! Going to California Aeronautical University in Bakersfield, should come out with everything up to a commercial license after selling my soul to FAFSA. Besides that, any of you have any tips for flight training in general? I'm thinking I should handle it fine, but I know I'll be doing all my twin training in a Baron 55 in the Mojave.
Some people I know who did their training recorded it with a Go-Pro then studied later, might not be a bad idea
anyone know if modern commercial aircraft have been ranked according to their cabin noise? I recently flew on a Boeing 717 and it was one of the quieter flights I've been on next to the A380.

I'm not sure how the FAA syllabus works but generally the first groundschool will always be the hardest part of training. Not to mention you'll also be doing part-degree in the US. Its usually where most schools measure if you can handle the pressure. The studying will be intense and the information will be condensed. The basic idea behind it is that if you can't handle the pressure studying then you'll never be able to handle the pressure up there should any problems arise. For those few months, your life will be boring. In a seven day week, you'll only get to relax on one day and the rest of the week you'll need to give your 100%. It gets dreadful but you can balance it out depending on what you do on that free day. For us its not such a big issue . And once you're done with everything no working day will ever be the same again. I'm almost done with phase one groundschool myself. One month from now I'll be sitting my EASA ATPL exam. Then its off to flying

Hngg them radial engines sound sexy AF.
The F-14 tomcat will forever be my favorite.
I dropped by our hangar yesterday. Didn't take much pictures but here's some [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/20161025_170227.jpg[/t] Cockpit of a DA-42 Diamond, equipped with G1000 an most importantly the optional air conditioning/climate control. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/20161025_162515.jpg[/t] The turbo of a Continental TSIO-360 6-cyl engine of a Piper Seneca. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32814946/20161025_164357.jpg[/t] Austro AE300 engine, based on a Mercedes engine. This is a diesel engine which means you can run AVTUR and not worry about spark plugs or carb icing. Also connected to a FADEC unit which makes pilot control simpler. Interesting story about this particular engine, I couldn't take a picture but on the other side of the case there is a thumb sized hole most likely caused by the conrod. A student was flying the plane when it blew and the instructor just went "its your call". He landed it and we consider him as lucky because that is one hell of a thing to write on your resume. Diamond aircrafts in general have really good single engine performance anyway. No one knows what actually happened to the engine and we're not allowed to do much to the engine as Austro wants it back for investigation.
Little bump. I'm gonna fly from Yellowknife to Calgary in a Dash 8 fuck yeah. Also the Yellowknife's airport is FULL of DC-3 and DHCs it's insane.
Airbus just completed this baby and its gonna go on its maiden flight this Thursday. As close as a few weeks back the engine failed 2 birdstrike tests (because the test was setup incorrectly, not a design fault) but it trashed both engines without proving they were safe!
For non American's it's pronounced Aeroplane.

Glad to see it came through though. I must say the 350-1000 has got to be my favorite plane out of airbus in terms of aesthetics so far.

It is a beautiful plane though. Glad the production engines aren't that awful shade of purple too.
