call them sir at all times and suck up to them, compliment them on their boot straps
Oh shit. All I can tell you is be ready for the pain and never quit. Also, hope to hell that you don't have all Special Forces Drill Sergeants.
You just jinxed him mate, well done.
I'd actually like to be part of an SF drill unit, for like a day.

BUT WHAT IF THEY WORK FOR A LIVING.
I wonder what would happen if you were so athletic you just screwed with the Drill instructors/drill sergeants that you just put up with whatever they gave you.

Anyway, any tips on what to ask an air force recruiter that I don't have to ask here?
I mean I personally want to enlist for four years then use benefits for college (while in or out)

Ask about what jobs are undermanned/over manned, enlistment/reenlistment bonuses, time in tech school for whatever jobs you are interested in, waiting period for said jobs, how those jobs would benefit you after enlistment, GI/Post 9-11 bills and how much those would help you, CCAF credits after tech school, and how to obtain a security clearance faster (if you need it).
All of those are great questions, thanks.
ask them why they didn't join the marines b/c marines are the best
i'm sure they'd love that
Not a problem. Also try to find a few friends/relatives/neighbors that are in the Air Force to vouch for you when it comes to obtaining a security clearance. Or even someone that you would trust with your life.
Also OSI will rip your internet history apart when it comes time for them to investigate. It was pretty damn awkward when they pulled me in. :v:

Going off of your avatar, im going to guess it has something to do with a fetish involving animals, mainly wolves and dogs? Am i in the right ball park?
Or are we talking mail-order brides from Afghanistan kind of awkward?

They don't give a shit about anyones fetish. I can image a few of the OSIs thinking "Hey, I'm familiar with that site!" I'm talking about photos, or contacts. In this case I had a few friends who had North Korea listed as their friend, and I had to explain how none of them nor myself had/has any affiliation with that country. It was a good 2 hours explaining, paperwork, ect.

They do this with all Air Force recruits?
[editline]12th August 2012[/editline]
And do they just search social networks/email and shit you use?

Not all jobs require a security clearance, but the ones that do yes. And not all clearances are the same and some can require more extensive background checks.

Not all recruits. Just if your job requires it. However I would assess that they would conduct generic background checks just for good measure.

Basically this.
shit it must get kinda boring if that's one of their assignments
What branch and position should someone look for that is interested in learning multiple languages?
What branch and position should someone look for that is interested in learning multiple languages?
I have a friend who went into the Luftwaffe as a Linguist, so try your Air Force.
What branch and position should someone look for that is interested in learning multiple languages?
usa airforce
Air Force or Army as a cryptolinguist. All the branches go to the same language school.
Thanks, I'll look into talking to a recruiter. One last question, is rank primarily years of service?

Enlisted, yes, if you want to become an NCO you'll have to pull off something amazing.

All I have to do is get a good score on a test and I become an NCO.
I was thinking of joining the Navy as a Medical Corpsman. Is anyone familiar with it how hard is the schooling after basic, etc.
I am so glad the Aussie defence force website is so welcoming to look at, I look at the US site and I get scared.
On topic though, I'm considering joining either the Air Force as a pilot or the Army as a Tank Crewman.
Any Aussies got some info for me ?

I'm a corpsman. Corps school is easy, not hard at all. You'll work at a hospital doing patient care, you can specialize in a specific trade if you want. PM me for more details

RAAF pilotry is immensely difficult to get into, I'd advise trying, though. If that fails, try for an ACO (aka a Nav), they're basically the copilot. Keep in mind that you'll need to do your maths and science in Year 12, possibly after, to even have a snowball's chance. I know nothing about tankies, other than the fact that they are awesome.
What do they teach you a Navy AOCS?
Do we have any pilots or ammo guys on facepunch? Preferably anyone with that works CAS or high altitude bombing?
A recruiter asked me this,
Are you now taking or have you ever been prescribed medication to improve an attention or mental disorder? What medication? (Ex: Redilin, Zoloft, Prozac)
I had some attention problem when I was a child, it practically went away after a month or two, but I also had to take some type of medication (which I'll bring up later on when I call the docs office).
Can people actually get disqualified even if they're not taking medication after probably 10 years? - When it was a growing/maturing type of deal.

Well, I am a crew chief. I work with helicopter pilots on a daily basis. What would you want to know?

If you haven't been on the medication for a year you're fine. You'll just need a waiver if you have a diagnosis.
Apparently you can get in the military with a GED, but the slots fill up very quickly, when do the slots open up? It would be a lot better to get 15 credits wouldn't it.
Dammit I basically answered my own question.
