It could, it only got me E-2 in the Marine Corps. The Marines will only give you E-2 contract wise, nothing higher. Still at boot camp while everyone else was making $1300 a month I was making $1650. I could have been an E-3 coming out of boot If I decided to put myself though absolute shit and compete against everyone else in the company. It is a lot easier to just recruit 1 (sometimes 2) people after boot to get E-3. I waited for time in grade/service for it. Interesting note, if you plan on joining the marines from another branch you need to be at least an E-7 to keep your rank. Otherwise you start out again as an E-2. We're the only branch that does that, and the only branch that requires you to go to our boot camp again. Though if you decide to go from the marines to another branch you do not have to go to their boot camp and chances are you'll get bumped up in pay grade depending on the job field you go into.
We had a few prior-service in our Basic Training, one navy and a couple air force, so I think we require Basic training unless you're Marine Corps. But I may be mistaken.
Depends if they did a full 4 years or not If i remember correctly.
We had an Army prior (E-5) that had to go through BMT because she past her 4 years of separation. Felt bad for her because her kids were battling cancer, and she decided to leave to tend to them. Cases like that should be able to go right in after schooling, not Basic.
Depends if they did a full 4 years or not If i remember correctly.
Okay that makes sense, the air force guys did 3 years and switched, and now that I think about it the Navy guy did 24 years and was voluntold to retire, so that's probably why he had to do basic for the army

Something about that doesn't sound right. He'd be at least a Chief. There's no branch out there that would make someone that high up go back to boot. Maybe take a course in the other branches uniforms and customs and such, but not go back to boot.

Do i have to take a PT test before im allowed into the nrotc college program at a university i plan to attend? i think a pt test is only required for those who want the 4 year scholarship, not the college program. im not 100% sure on it though. I thought all the pt takes place while you are in the program.
They would probably check for the minimum requirements, but I'm not sure if they would make you do it. I mean, it's only a PT test. They're not that bad.
Cool, Tom Selleck served in my unit.
He was an E-7, though I don't know what the rank is called in the Navy.
That's a Chief. I find it really weird that they would make him go back to boot camp. Did he at least retain his paygrade?

I got AKO to work on firefox :smug:
Oh old military dorm rooms. I think it's time for a pest clean-up. I have found a greater annoyance in my life. Not only am I attempting to go to bed 5 hours before waking up, but I'm also trying to muffle the noise of the rats strategically placed in the walls near my bed. As an attempt to stop (some of) the noise, I hit the wall closest toward the ceiling where the main commotion was coming from. I hear a rat bouncing back and forth along the frame, only followed by a loud thud near floor level. Then and there I went back to bed, but only for a brief second as I started to smell singed hair. Long story short....That fucker landed on an electrical wire. And I get to pick that shit out.
He was an E-7, though I don't know what the rank is called in the Navy.
Don't believe you. The Navy and Army have a program called blue to gold. If you do it, at the end of your contract you get out of the Navy and are re-enlisted into the Army (and with a rank up to e5 if you're e-4).

you need 3 years of any college program ROTC (army, air force, navy) to become an E2 in the usmc right? some people have been telling me two years are required.
you need 3 years of any college program ROTC (army, air force, navy) to become an E2 in the usmc right? some people have been telling me two years are required.
Not college, 3 years of highschool JROTC. Or you can go to college full time for a year, which is much easier. Granted you'll be well ahead of the game when it comes to drill, general knowledge, and history if you go the JROTC route. If you go college ROTC then you might as well be an officer.
It's not the navy who are pussies, I always thought it was the Air Force.
Yeah, the navy's gay, the AF are pussies.
"You don't have to go to work for the rest of the week. You don't have to do the exercise." Ok. "You're going to be dorm orderly!" NOOOOOO I want to do the exercise now! Welp, time to go pick up cigarette butts for the rest of the week.

what is the point even
Did anyone have a moment of doubt if joining was the right thing to do? Because I am having some, even though it is something i REALLY want to accomplish in my life.
So what does the Air Force have to offer to someone freshly graduated from High School?

Also if you're really looking to start off a good start go to any other branch, you can get up to E3. Unless you are dead set on the marines.
So what does the Air Force have to offer to someone freshly graduated from High School?
Job Stability, Technical Skills(depending what job), Life experiences, Traveling(possibly), Discipline, etc. Oh and when you get out, you will cherish your freedom to do whatever the hell you want.

Worst comes to worst, use the tobasco sauce in the MREs and pour one drop in your eye. If your on post, start beating off your dick, (hopefully the guy you relieved at least left a Playboy) but keep one eye out for the Taliban.
