Shit, when I went through we got the new BCGs and they look pretty nice compa
You might know my LT since you work in the ER. He just got off of deployment there. That's cool though. How long have you been in the fleet?
Was he deployed? I'm not deployed and I don't know many people on the JTF side. But what is his name? I might regardless. I've only been in since February but I like a lot of things about the Navy. My girlfriend (who's in the Nurse Corps) and I probably will do our 20 together. What about you?

What does BCGs actually stand for? We were told it stands for 'Birth Control Glasses' because the shit is so ugly, you won't be getting no ass in them EVER.
Most of my friends actually look good with BCGs. Some are still wearing them.
Oh, I just remembered today is my 1 year mark. Time to go celebrate by changing out my gauze and knocking myself out with vicodin. Yay...
Ive been told i look good in them too, which is the only reason i still wear them.
However, they suck when marching. The DOD decided, in its infinite wisdom, not to put the little rubber nubs on the nose piece, like every pair of glasses ever. So if you sweat just a little,(which is the norm in texas), they start sliding down. It was so bad, that at retreat, i had to make all kinds of weird facial expressions to keep them from falling off.
I know full metal jacket isn't exactly most accurate movie about boot camp but ho physical are the DI's really allowed to get with you? Can you get slapped for not believing in the Virgin Mary? I know I probably ask the dumbest questions but I'm trying to get ready so I make too many mistakes in basic. I mean I know I'm going to fuck up somehow but it can't hurt to try to be ready.

They might do it, but they're not supposed to and it's very rare. I got kicked in the head while wearing a helmet for falling down after one of my pack straps snapped, but its whatever and you keep moving on.

I'm also assuming one should not talk shit about the DI behind his back?
I'm also assuming one should not talk shit about the DI behind his back?
Do you talk about other people behind their back? Do you consider that a good thing to do if you do it?
I'm also assuming one should not talk shit about the DI behind his back?
You probably shouldn't do that regarding anyone, military or not.
Does anyone here have any information I should know if I wanted to become a Dog Handler for the Australian Army? ;/
i want to be a dog for the australian army
I actually think military service is good for people. It helps build pride in one's country! Koreans are forced to serve 2 or 3 years in their military, but I am glad we do not have this in the US. I am looking at joining the Navy/Airforce as I am looking to head to college. It is a great option for many who can't afford to pay for college themselves.

Korea is a good example of why compulsory conscription is necessary though.

I suppose you are right, but isn't the reason immigrants came to the US to have the freedom to choose what they think is right?

LT Udell, Psychologist. Also Ahh so what do you come in as for being a PA, ensign, LTJG?
Do you talk about other people behind their back? Do you consider that a good thing to do if you do it?
Well my definition of talking shit is saying someone is an asshole, Would I catch shit if I said to someone and they told the DI "Hey man, The DI is a bit of an asshole don't ya think?"

I don't usually don't say something about someone behind their back unless I am going to say it to their face, But as I said above I may go to a friend or something occasionally and say "Wow, that guy can be an asshole huh?"
I suppose you are right, but isn't the reason immigrants came to the US to have the freedom to choose what they think is right?
I'm not sure what that has to do with the benefits of compulsory conscription. :v:
Dude, talking bad about drill sergeants behind their back happens. It also makes for great stories about how you got smoked or screamed at. Somehow, Drill Sergeants and Drill Instructors have super bionic hearing. Be careful what you say on fire guard too, the PA system has a listen function.
PA system has a listen function.
A thousand times this.
You are never safe in Basic Training, at least in the Air Force. Somewhere in the second week, our flight was making a few jokes after lights out because our MTI was out of the dorm. I don't remember what they said on the PA, but I do remember whoever was talking was incredibly pissed. We ended up being woken up to a bunch of yelling and push-ups. :v:

It's true, that is the best job in the ADF
treated like a true king
If I recall correctly, there was a news story in Sensationalist Headlines a few months ago that said the older BCGs were being replaced with a newer design that wasn't ass-ugly, but still held up under normal wear and tear. I didn't think they would be handing them out so soon.
I don't have a link at the moment, but I can go look around and try to dig something up.

I have the new ones, I was in the first cycle to get them, all my DSs were all "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT ON YOUR FACE PRIVATE" and all was good.
But those aren't the BCGs, these are, in this ugly ass picture of me

Holy shit, new glasses? WHOO HOO! More than likely I won't need eyeglasses but we will find out within the next year...
LT Udell, Psychologist. Also Ahh so what do you come in as for being a PA, ensign, LTJG?
Doesn't sound familiar. I know we recently got another JTF psychologist that we're using since our billet at the hospital is gaped. Most PAs will start off as an O-2 (like myself) especially if they are not priors. But I imagine if an IDC went to PA school, they could potentially come in as an O-3 due to all of their experience.

Ahhh okay, you're right it depends though. Even though you have to be E5 plus to become an IDC, I've seen a Chief go to an Ensign. It's kind of ridiculous...making a CPO an O1.
There is enough alphabet soup going on here to fill a chef boyardee factory.
yes

But don't they become an O-1E? Plus I feel that many of the enlisted give mustangs more respect that those that directed commissioned in the Navy.

Yeah he got O1E pay but still, CPO to bottom of the barrel and youre right. When I see a junior Officer that was prior enlisted there's just automatically more respect there, especially for those HM1's and Chiefs. HM's are sincerely some of the hardest people in the military. But you know what they say about mustangs...they just couldn't handle being enlisted (; haha.

Box:'Entry controller'
Entire flight: BOX!
Seriously, I don't know what kind of microphone they use in that damn box, but that shit is crazy sensitive. You could be whispering on the other side of the dorm and it would still pick it up.
