Are people with flat feet allowed in the military?
In the Army during reception they assign you a shoe type to buy depending upon your foot type.
How hard is it to get into infantry in the Marines?
Right now it's probably kinda hard, infantry is being downsized right now
Generally yes, depending on the severity. You can go and get free custom insoles that are worth $500 a pair once you're in.
I have always thought that the military would show no sympathy for this kind of thing. I have terribly flat feet and it was starting to cause serious joint pain for me and had a serious effect on my ability to run. It was to the point where i couldn't make it out of my driveway after formerly being able to run about 2 miles everyday. After getting insoles it seems the pain is slowly going away and I'm back up to being able to run a mile. I'm scared that when i get to basic for the marines(after watching plenty of videos and documentaries of how hard DIs can be on recruits) they will completely disregard my foot problem and rip away the insoles, making it nearly impossible to complete basic due to all the running involved.

Can't be too hard though...I just signed the paperwork with my recruiter today after he told me that my request for UH had been approved. 0300 is now my MOS.
It's the intel jobs that are the hardest I hear. EVERYONE wants one of those.

that would be illegal and unconstitutional on various levels
that would be illegal and unconstitutional on various levels
Might be illegal but how is that unconstitutional? Cruel and unusual punishment only applies to judicial sentencing.
I just thought that once you made it to basic (for the marines) you were stripped of everything you had that they had not given to you.

I was allowed to keep a phone book of addresses, a Celtic tree on a chain my friend gave me (told them it was a religious piece), my drivers licence, and my social security card. Everything else (which was just cloths) got put in a box and stored for the rest of bootcamp.
I want to join the Marines once I get out of High School. Though I'm still a freshmen, should I contact a recruiter? Or should I wait a bit longer? I'm also going to start working out to get ready for bootcamp. The requirement for males in the running portion is 1.5 miles in 13:00 minutes, correct?

Wait until you're at least a junior. Although it is 13 minutes for the IST most stations make you get around 10 minutes. Keep in mind that's just to get in, once you're at bootcamp you need to be able to run 3 miles in at most 28 minutes.
I guess I better start running then. Oh, and how about push-ups and sit-ups? How many should I be able to do?
How hard is it to join the USMC if you only have a GED?
What branches of military could a diabetic join?
It can't be that hard to get infantry in the USMC when I enlisted I filled one of 13 available slots open for Infantry and I have no where near perfect vision.
How hard is it to join the USMC if you only have a GED?
5% of people with GEDs get in. If you get 15 college credits though, you'll have the same chances of getting in as someone with a high school diploma
If anyone has questions regarding the enlisted aviation side of the Marine Corps send me a PM or IM on steam "eliteapoc" I'm base on NAS Pensacola right now for training.
I guess I better start running then. Oh, and how about push-ups and sit-ups? How many should I be able to do?
No push ups, pull ups. Minimums 3, but doing the minimum will make you fail. You need to do more around 10 at least. Crunches the minimum is 30, but if you can't make 100 that's looked down upon.
So, I've been in the DEP since January 15. I was definitely nothing special when I initially started (first IST: 0 pull ups, 54 crunches, 10:45 run time) but now after about 2 months of regular PT (at least 3 times a week and the occasional PT on my own) I've improved significantly. (Last IST was saturday: 2 pull ups, 81 crunches and a 9:41 run time). Minimum pull ups are like 6 where I'm at so once I hit at least the minimum then I'll be able to leave soon and let boot camp work out the rest I suppose.
So anyone who gets into a DEP that has PT with their recruiters; take full advantage of that PT. Don't kid yourself, unless you're extremely motivated and not distracted with life or work, you probably won't work out too often on your own.
I'm hoping that by May I'll be able to get to boot camp.

None, sorry. Unless you contracted it while in the service.
Soo...
I'm currently in the DEP to join the Air Force. I only have 10 jobs listed, the majority being intel jobs, so of course I'll be waiting a loooooong time(I've already been waiting 5 months). I told my recruiter that if one of the jobs I listed doesn't pop up by the end of 10 months I'd be willing to go to basic training in the Open General Science aptitude area, which I understand is some damn risky business. My thoughts are that if I go to boot camp as Open General, and none of the jobs I want become available, I'll just go with Security Forces, which I'm genuinely OK with doing. Lately, however, I've been getting pretty damn impatient of just waiting around, and I'm seriously considering telling my recruiter to send me in as Open General ASAP.
So, my questions are: is there any hope an intel job will become available for me? And should I be considering going Open Aptitude at all?
P.S: I got a 95 on the ASVAB and qualified for pretty much every enlisted job the Air Force has.

If you have any questions regarding Intel feel free to shoot me a message. I have 2 months left in Tech School but I'll answer to the best of my abilities.
Try to snag an Intel slot even if it means waiting a while. I had 1.5 years in DEP for this job (I waited for a specific job), and so far it's pretty kick ass!

Your ASVAB score is golden. We really need guys like you!

Reception, meaning first days of basic i assume?
could you get those mentioned insoles at that time?
You can buy them at the PX when you get your shoes
Already enlisted in the Navy. It is my 18th birthday today and I got a selective service letter today. Good game United States.

Same thing happened to me. I enlisted 27april11 and they sent me a letter a few weeks after my birthday on the thirtieth.
I just thought it was pretty creepy that mine came in the DAY OF my birthday.
They're pretty damn punctual.
