I'm a corpsman if you have questions PM me
we've talked a little bit in the past, im just wondering if i should know anything when dealing with the recruiter?
I thought it wasn't timed. But its 9th grade math right ? Y=X+B and other shit, shouldn't be hard to do in your head.
It was timed, since I was doing it during school.
Today we had a 5K and a 12 mile run on base in commemoration of Thanksgiving next week. I did the 12 mile and came in second in my age group. It was fun.
Offer still stands that if anyone wants to join the Air Force hit me up with a PM and when I get on I can try to get your questions answered. I've been in for 3 and a half years and have a good amount of info or contacts that can help me help you. However if you feel like being a maintainer, either join up so we can stop being undermanned or don't bother and save yourself.
If i were to be in maintenance, what are the odd I'd be stationed 30 minutes away in Warner Robbins?
If i were to be in maintenance, what are the odd I'd be stationed 30 minutes away in Warner Robbins?
Just about the same odds as being stationed anywhere else in the entire Air Force where they need maintenance personnel. You get a "dream sheet", sure. However, that sheet means nothing and the Air Force will put you anywhere they need you. I'm saying this so you don't get false hopes. I wanted Ft. Lewis, but the Army gave me Ft. Campbell. Just think of it a way to get out and see more of the country/world. [editline]18th November 2012[/editline] Page king, have a flying lawnmower. It's very square.
It is also very noisy, hence the nickname. The Shadow is a good drone though.
so i really want to experience the life of being in the military 100% by living on base as an active duty marine, but having a college degree is pretty important to my parents and myself. i don't think i would be very satisfied being in the reserves, and i've heard that going to college normally while on active duty is very hard. so i've been looking for some feedback on what it is like to take college courses hosted on base or online courses. right now i'm not really considering an MOS with an absolute ton of training out in the field like infantry, and am looking at computer tech related MOS's like tactical data systems administrator, so that might make it a little easier.
You can always go to college when you get done with active duty. Thats what i plan to do when i enlist.
Confirmed...Fish at ANY dining facility will give you hardcore stomach cancer. Feels like Nemo is finding his way back up again.
Aww, and I had just started liking fish. I was browsing Facebook and saw a few posts by two of my classmates who are now Marines. One of them used to aggravate me in class, made weird noises, one of those kids. Now he is doing something honorable, and I'm pretty jealous.
Anyone in the RAF?
Starting in about two weeks as an ICT Tech, I can't wait, but fuck me the basic training will be cold in January...

Keep in mind that the Marine Corps has a habit of making you regret your decision to enlist. There's a lot of bullshit to put up with.
So what's SOI going to be like? I hear it's going to be a lot of stupid shit and fuck fuck games.
So apparently the general was infact here today. Didnt see him myself since I had the 2300 to 0700 CQ shift and went to sleep right after i got off. On a related note, one of our washing machines broke and flooded the dorm last night. Funny how those things happen at the worst possible times. We got it cleaned up to the point it wasnt obvious besides the gaping hole in the ceiling of the CQ office, but damn that cut it close.

Living with 80+ guys, pretty much in the field from Monday-Friday. The few days you do get off are spent sitting in a classroom learning land nav. or some other shit. Only free time is weekend. But even on the weekend, you can't really go off base unless you take the shuttle. Lots of yelling, hiking, and drunkenness. You can also take moto pics of yourself in full gear and post them to facebook.

Got to watch the drunks roll in. But the best part was when the HAWC inspection was initiated the same time I had the shift. So fuck me sideways I got to hang with 40+ Sgts, 6 Chiefs, 15 LT's, 2 CAPTs, 5 Maj's, and 2 full birds. Oh well, my night was made when I pushed the bomb threat button to get everyone out of the building. I could have pushed the fire alarm, but I had the sudden urge to be "that guy." I was graduating the next day anyways.
I was always curious about those who join the military but where glasses. Do they give you a new pair or do you keep your own?
If you're enlisted, they give you a pair to wear through boot camp. If you're an officer, for the most part they let you wear your own provided they aren't considered "trendy" in nature.
Is it true that in AF BMT that: 1) you sleep in your underwear with no shirt? 2) boxers are not allowed? 3) you have to be chow runner at least once? I'm curious about this, and today I feel unnaturally calm about the prospects of enlisting.

Boxers are allowed, as long as they are uniform boxers and not civilian ones. And yes, everyone has to be a chow runner. It will happen more than once.

After that, we slept in our PT uniform(since we literally woke up and immediately went to PT), or what we called modified PT(only for days we wouldnt be going to PT the following day, like Saturday night) 2: Correct. You're issued underwear(tightie whities) for the entirety of BMT. 3: Not at all. We had one chow runner, and one back up chow runner. If the chow runner sucks, he might get fired and replaced, but I doubt it can happen 40+ times.

The first 1-2 days at BMT will be in civilian clothing, so the first night I slept in gym shorts. But our flight was lucky enough to get our uniforms and shit the day after arrival night. 2. Tighty whities will be your friend...just kidding. They suck and manage to run up your ass every chance they get. But for PT you'll be wearing spandex under your gear, which is tons more comfortable. 3. No, but the first day you'll be assigned a detail. The instructors typically ask if you we were previously in ROTC, had a college education, or a profession that required precision. In the "Chow Runners" case it's usually someone with good communication skills. Other instructors sometimes choose the trainee who looks like he's about to shit his pants. Just for their amusement.
Happy Thanksgiving to all you guys.
Got my blue cord and graduated. Now i wait for airborne school next week.
Got my blue cord and graduated. Now i wait for airborne school next week.
Listen to those Black Patch's. I'm sure Airborne will be a breeze for you. Congratulations on graduating OSUT.
I never knew there were so many infantrymen on FP until these last couple months
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I guess one of the TSgts in my shop found out that I wasn't going home for Thanksgiving. He invited me and the other Airmen who weren't doing anything today for some turkey and cigars. What a bro.
DFAC took care of us for thanksgiving. Got served turkey from the wing commander, and sparkling cider from a Chief. Also, Found out one of my MTIs is now spending 8 years in prison. Here's what my buddy said.
Not sure if you all know, but Airman Basic Hudson is now doing an 8 year sentence for maltreatment of trainees. I know a lot of you got voluntold into bleaching the latrine, for our flight it apparently wasn't that bad. He has had flights in recent months where he was using no fans and using really highly concentrated bleach and/or no fans, to the point where trainees got chemical burns on their hands and minor lung scarring. I personally liked him as a TI, but I guess he fucked himself there.
He wasn't our main MTI, and he was only around the 2nd week and 8th week, since he took some leave because he was having a kid. Like the guy said, I personally liked him as an MTI. I always felt like he actually made an effort to teach things thoroughly, rather then our main MTIs typical 'heres how you do it, get it right your first try'. Guess thats what ya get though
