What is the stuff used to build bases? I see all these boxes and they use them in outposts or something?
Also, Found out one of my MTIs is now spending 8 years in prison. Here's what my buddy said. He wasn't our main MTI, and he was only around the 2nd week and 8th week, since he took some leave because he was having a kid. Like the guy said, I personally liked him as an MTI. I always felt like he actually made an effort to teach things thoroughly, rather then our main MTIs typical 'heres how you do it, get it right your first try'. Guess thats what ya get though
His name sounds familiar. Didn't he work in the classroom as well? I swear it was SABC or something.
im going to join the military and im pretty sold on the navy, any suggestions on cool jobs?

My mom's dad was a cook in the army in Germany in the late 50's-early 60's. His brother was a Sergeant Major in the tanks at a neighboring base. I like armor, but I am not sure it would like me.
His name sounds familiar. Didn't he work in the classroom as well? I swear it was SABC or something.
I couldn't tell ya, but I could believe it. Like i said, he had more of a teaching air to him. Best way to describe him: short, had braces, deep south, and always spun his keys around his finger. always. Heh, a couple of the guys were talking about the time he had us in the Day Room, and basically told us his life story, using the N word, oh, about 15 times. He meant well in the message he was trying to give, but that was probably the most uncomfortable, awkward moment throughout BMT.
"Airman ******, I'm calling to inform you that you are scheduled for a flight out tomorrow at 0800. Your DTS is set, and paperwork is ready to go. Come into the office tonight to get some loose-ends tied with the UTM. Bring your orders, badges, and dorm paperwork. If you have any questions feel free to ask them tonight. Good luck." Uh, I do have a question...WHERE THE FUCK AM I GOING? It better be a TDY.
I couldn't tell ya, but I could believe it. Like i said, he had more of a teaching air to him. Anything and everything goes! [editline].[/editline] Woo it's a TDY! Offutt, NE shouldn't be too bad. I thought it was going to be something more exciting, but it's only more schooling.

Anyone here stationed or has been stationed at Lejeune? That's an option I've been given at this time. I don't want to take it just yet because I'm seeing if other billets will open up soon. Just wanted to see if someone has any experience there.

Are you a blue side or green side doc? If anything, try to go to Pendelton or San D. What do you want / what is your detailer offering?

It looks like I would be attached to a Marine unit so it looks like it will be green side. I'm trying to find a place that would help not only my own career, but my wife's as well. She's coming from Bethesda and going from one big command to another doesn't look good. But being a nurse at Lejeune (medium-sized command) would be a good step in the right direction for her.

Just saw this on a friend's facebook and it made me cringe. Thought you guys might get a kick out of it. :downs: "Women in the infantry? I think not!"

Offutt AFB has some awesome water pressure!
What is a good running routine to start with? I just read that AF bmt has a two mile run every week and I don't want to struggle too badly with it.
What is a good running routine to start with? Make sure to time yourself so you can continue to improve on your run time, and establish your baseline.
Thank you. Finals are coming up so I am stressed to the max, but I plan to start over Christmas break.
for the love of fucking god, do not go to fort hood there is fucking nothing in texas, and you will do some rough ass PT man. fucking weather sucks dick too. im god damn aviation and we're running four miles and rucking eight miles every other /week/. i'm about to go on profile for eternity.
I'm going to finish my Bachelor's degree Nuclear Medicine (to become a technologist) in June of 2014. I'll be 23 by then, was wondering how easy it would be to get a job as a technologist in the army (and navy?). MOS 68P (Radiology Specialist) with a SQ M5 (Nuclear Medicine). The problem is that it is a profession for enlistees. I wouldn't mind being an enlisted soldier as long as I am guaranteed a job as a Radiology Specialist or Nuclear Medicine technologist. No sense in throwing away a degree, right? What are my options as an officer with a Bachelor's degree in the medical field?

I share your pain. My unit pushes us hard too, simply to keep a high physical fitness standard. I am a part of Alpha Troop 2-17 Cav, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. My squadron keeps things rough due to the whole "If you ain't Cav, you ain't shit!" attitude. What is your MOS? I am a 15S.
"If you ain't Cav, you ain't shit!" attitude..
See, I understand what that means, but couldn't that be misinterpreted as "If you're not Cav, you're not shit"?
See, I understand what that means, but couldn't that be misinterpreted as "If you're not Cav, you're not shit"?
Nah, no one ever has misinterpreted it in the military. It literally means, with all our american slang, "If you aren't Cavalry, you aren't anything." No mistaking that around here. Paperwork is unreal in aviation, I feel your pain. Tags, work orders, dispatches, and a myriad of other forms. Hell, if we didn't have ULLSA(E) logbook software, we would be using the physical paper versions of the logbook forms, and that is very time consuming and maddening.
