'Pay for college.' -Privates that joined active army.
Eh, that's one of the main reasons for me wanting to enlist, fronted up by "they have the job that i want/interested in", followed with I should do something productive towards my country. But I am teetering between AF or Navy, not army. I remember a kid from Junior year who said he wanted to join the marines just so he could kill "sand niggers". He was an asshole, and i feel slightly ashamed to have been friends with him at one point in middle school.
First day of meps, got into my hotel room later so i dont get to do jack shit other than go to bed. no roomate either

And for fucks sake wear underwear. There was a guy who was getting ready to be evaluated, but was escorted out for not wearing anything underneath. Man points if you wear tighty-whities with stripes.
I won the Brigade Soldier of the Quarter board. Frickin' hooah. [t]http://sphotos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/r270/256318_548034541891267_185909058_o.jpg[/t]
Just finished swearing in at MEPS into USMC reserves as an 0612, field wireman.

I literally beat out everyone else in every battalion in RC East. It is no small thing, as I am going to be going to Division level when I get back.
I literally beat out everyone else in every battalion in RC East. It is no small thing, as I am going to be going to Division level when I get back.
Good job dude! I'm assuming it helps with promotion?
Good job dude! I'm assuming it helps with promotion?
It is worth 20 promotion points and I am just about 100% guaranteed to get my SPC waiver now. It was interesting because all of the Sergeant Majors on that board literally told me that I need to become an officer. Never in my life would I have thought that I would hear a board full of sergeant majors say that.
TF Destiny? Here we just use numbers...
Odd. There are a lot of task forces out here. TF No Mercy (my task force), TF Destiny, TF Shadow, TF Saber, TF Troubleshooter, TF Pirate, TF Eagle Assault, among others.
I have been diagnosed with both athsma and ADHD, is there any way that I can serve the military?
if you like mopping floors they might make an exception
Welp, after waiting in the DEP for over a year, I've finally booked air traffic control in the Air Force. Finally. I'm so fucking psyched though.
I have been diagnosed with both athsma and ADHD, is there any way that I can serve the military?
No-go
Welp, after waiting in the DEP for over a year, I've finally booked air traffic control in the Air Force. Finally. I'm so fucking psyched though.
Congrats man, and good luck. I hear ATC is one of the most difficult tech schools.
I have been diagnosed with both athsma and ADHD, is there any way that I can serve the military?
With the current climate for joining, and the looming budget cuts, there is no way you are going to be able to join. I'm sorry. They don't waiver stuff anymore. Looking into joining the Royal Marine Commandos as an officer. I've got to do A Levels at college, any recommendations? I have 7 months left at Secondary school, then 2 years for A Levels or more if required, joining the gym this year, of not the next definitely. Would appreciate any advice and will accept any which is given.
any marines have any experiences or stories to share about the regular duties of an 0612 field wireman in a victor (infantry) unit? i am told that is a lot of time in the field, but do they get paired with grunts to go on patrols?
After a half year of practicals and a week of testing, I'm finally a certified CDE (Collateral Damage Estimation) Analyst!

You need to be incredibly fit, get your CV up, as a marine you'll be looking at doing 9 minute 1.5 miles on average but the lower the better of course. You also need to be good with weight ie tabbing (weighted march), grab a backpack fill it with 10kg at first to get used to it and walk quickly try and run 100m every mile or so then over time increase weight up to 25kg and your distance. Not much info I can offer about marines tbh

Do however many A-levels and/or BTECs in college as long as you get at least 180 UCAS points, although I do suggest getting more if you can. Did you have any course(s) in mind? Having a University education isn't mandatory, there are officers in the corps who don't have one, although it does look good when it comes to the interview with the RN admiralty board. As far as fitness goes, joining the gym is definitely a good idea. Start running to and from School/college/work, make it a regular part of your lifestyle. At the end of it all you just want to be able to get the maximum points during your PRMC. Saying that, if there's anyone who wants more info on joining the Commandos, officer or otherwise, feel free to ask.
How about a slight/minor lazy eye and a Medical MOS. I had surgery on it 5 years ago, and a few when i was a few weeks old. I have 20/20 binocular vision without correction, but my right eye is 20/25, so i wear contacts to address that, which also makes my lazy eye even more minor.

I have seen some wall-eyed soldiers, trust me. You should be fine.

But I'll have to look into the courses more.
Some fuckers took my troop's guidon. This cannot stand.
Today I ran a half marathon on base. Did a 1:57:30 and came in second in my age category. It felt great.
I would join the military if the Belgian military wasn't so shit.
