Can't see why apart from monogamous procedures and being hated by everyone, anyone know of stories from MP's, experiences?
Had my conscription health check today. Aced it and I will have to serve 11 months in the Kuperjanov Battalion from July 2013, with a high possibility of being promoted to second lieutenant after 3 months of basic training. Gonna be going to War Academy (here in Lithuania) after I finished school and then afterwards properly join the Armed Forces as a 1st Lieutenant. I'm just really scared of messing up my exams right now. Two questions: 1) how important is math for sniping? it's always been in the back of my head, but scared of apparently having to know craptons of insane formulas and whatnot 2) I should be accepted even if my left eye blurs vision past 3-4 meters, right?
Marine Corps Junior ROTC Staff Sergeant here, although I have the biggest hard-on in my life for the Marine Corps, I have always thought about joining the Army, my Dad was in the Army from 74 to 86, 101st AB ADA, 7th Corps, and I always thought that if I joined the USMC that he would kind of be upset. (I doubt he would, but you never know) My Grandfather on my Dad's side was in the Army, and on my Mom's side was a Marine, who just recently passed away, but his father was a Marine along with his 7 brothers, and all joined during WW1. I always thought that my placement was the Marine Corps. So, you past military guys out there, which branch do you recommend? (I don't give a shit about pay or benefits, I just want to join to fight for the States, preferably a branch where I have the higher chance of getting a fighting MOS, I don't want to be a POG)

The math shouldn't be that bad, especially when its the same math that you will using over and over again so you won't forget it.
The Army has the most benefits. A lot of people are trying to transfer to the Army because of the benefits. All the other branches have transfer programs, but the Army doesn't need one since most people stay with the Army after they enlist/transfer. It really depends on what you want to do in the military as well.

The only "benefit" the army has is the existing college loan payment program, to which they just pay the total off at once for you and make you pay it off in small increments over your enlistment.
You get a guaranteed MOS in the Army, not sure how the Marines work.

[editline]22nd March 2012[/editline]
You get a guaranteed MOS in the Army, not sure how the Marines work.
guarantee and military do not go together. Yes in the army you have a higher chance of getting what job you want because they have a large work pool, but the only thing guaranteed is how long your contract is. That's always a total of 8 years, with anywhere between 3-5 years active and the rest being inactive reserve.

In fact, most MOS's in the Army are combat support. Anyways, the Army always needs 11B's. If you really want to be infantry, go for it. It is not nearly as glamorous as everyone makes it out to be. I am a 15S, OH-58D Helicopter Repairer. 11B's have a shitty job and always the worst duties and living assignments. Like I said, go for it if you really want it, but keep in mind it might be nothing like what you might think it is, especially being in JROTC. JROTC fills your head with a lot of notions, believe me.
jrotc try hard boner for marine corps LOL [editline]22nd March 2012[/editline] also saying he doesn't want to be a POG LOL
Why doesn't anyone mention joining the Navy? It's always Marine Corps or Army. I don't get it. We have a pretty cushy life and I can't lie I have a pretty sweet job. You know, you can be a badass in the Navy too. It's called being a Corpsman(Or Diver, or Seabee, and in some cases Religious Program Specialist). We're the only enlisted corps in the Navy and we're the most decorated corps in the military. Want to be a complete badass? Enlist as an 8404 Corpsman today. You always wanted to be a Marine huh? Always wanted to do the rah gung ho semper fi shit? Have you always dreamed of holding two girls around your arms while you rock the bell bottoms and dixie cup? Enlist in the Hospital Corps! You can do badass shit like perform Cricothyroidotomys, administer Packed RBC's, perform emergency chest decompressions and tourniquet bleeding legs. Have you ever dreamed of being the guy that runs out into the open to a wounded marine, recieving a flury of never ending gunfire to your skull? Well these men did and look at what these men have done... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Eugene_Bush <- this dude lost an eyeball, but did he give up? No. Badass http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_F._Lester <- badass http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_H._Willis <- chucked 7 grenades back at the enemy Theres 19 more of these badasses, and 174 who recieved the Navy Cross (The highest award that you can recieve in the Marine Corps AND the Navy) and 31 with the Distinguished Service Cross (Highest award in the Army) Yeah, we're the Naval Hospital Corps and we are a big deal. Join us today. Also shoutout to my boy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_B._Bleak, this dude killed 5 chinese soldiers in hand to hand combat, WHILE providing medical care to wounded soldiers. That's two crushed windpipes, and 2 smashed skulls, and one trench knife to the throat. (he's a 68W tho).

Psssh, all it takes to be a badass in the Air Force is being in the cyber ops.
IST(to get in) 1.5 miles in under 12 minutes, 40 crunches in under 2, 3 pull ups no time limit.
I'm doomed
I can pass the IST with the minimum :v: 1.5 miles in 11:36, 43 crunches, and 6 pullups
I hate running. But I'm assuming I'm gonna hate it even more when/if I get to bootcamp. I can only run a lap around my schools track and then I'm dead.
I'm doomed
The crunches are the easy part. Most people fail with the pullups

Id suggest investing in a decent pair of running shoes for a start, they make a surprising amount of difference. Try plotting out some distance in your neighborhood(i started out doing 3 miles, 1.5 out and back). Try finding a 5K or similar race nearby so you have a goal. Most of all, dont give up. It wont be easy at first, youll hurt in places you werent sure existed, but youll see the difference if ya keep up with it. More on topic, Ive got 32 days before I ship to AF Boot camp.

I don't know, I haven't felt this motivated for anything in a while.
I'm assuming you're gonna have to swim in bootcamp for the Marines, so how is it? Do you do laps or something?
Been considering joining the TA when I go off to college. Its good money, and I've always loved the military.
I'm assuming you're gonna have to swim in bootcamp for the Marines, so how is it? Dunno how marines do it.
I'm assuming you're gonna have to swim in bootcamp for the Marines, so how is it? Do you do laps or something?
No, everything you do is in combat gear and combat related in the water.
No, everything you do is in combat gear and combat related in the water.
Ah alright.
Girl I have a crush on wants to in, I'm all for it. I just got this bad vibe in the back of my head. Worried I guess? I digress, what's it like for you guys?

I wake up every morning with two gorgeous views of the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean and I'm not paying for it. The military can afford you alot of neat things and benefits, and I think it's a great thing for her to want to do.
And if you live in the US women aren't put into active combat roles so she'll most likely be fine.
Thanks guys, you're right. I want the best for her, so if it makes her happy. I'm all for it. Thanks for making me feel a little easier.
