I hope you applied to more than just one school.
I applied for a community college; As far as I was told, community college is pretty easy to get in. I specifically chose that one because it is close to where I live and traffic is a pain in the ass. If they don't accept me for some reason, then it's ok. It's not too urgent. I got a pretty good job. My plan is to knock out all the core classes (English, Math, Science) then after 2 years transfer to a better college.
I plan on graduating from university. Would joining the Canadian armed forces help in anyway? Truth be told I just want to go for the life experience in training, but I don't want to go into live combat.
what is the point of running if you're just going to bullshit your way through PT every day in B or C group, people? you might as well run A train
This is semi-military related. I'm being shipped to BMT on March 14, and my dad just decided to move us 50 miles away from all my friends :v: Fuck.

But, if you still wish to join there are plenty of non combative roles that you can sign up for. But even for a non combat role you still can be placed in combat zones.
Don't bring anything, save for a few toiletries. Seriously, it will all be provided for you. You are not allowed your own boots. You are not allowed anything other than the stuff that they issue you or you get at the troop store that they force you through in reception. Don't wear hooah stuff either.
That's pretty much a general rule of thumb for all branches for anyone else wondering.
All you need is a good pair of underwear.
Today, I sat down with my cousin, who is a Master Sergent in the Air Force and is in his 17th year of enlistment, about joining, life in the services, etc. He was really helpful, told me things I didn't know, reiterated things I did know. He said the hardest part is jumping the first hurdle, but it was the best decision he has ever made.
That's pretty much a general rule of thumb for all branches for anyone else wondering.
One of the guys who flew into Lackland with me had a mohawk and was wearing a skrillex shirt boy did he get shit for that
I have a bunch of crippling mental disorders would there be any job for me more exciting than a mail room clerk?
I have a bunch of crippling mental disorders would there be any job for me more exciting than a mail room clerk?
From my understanding, If you're not 100% okay up-stairs you're a no go. May i ask what your crippling mental disorders are?
Just got my first paycheck as an E3, that was nice having an extra $35 in my pocket after TSP and taxes [editline]22nd January 2013[/editline]
I went to the air force recruiter today, apparently they require you to be ten pounds below the max weight for some reason. So now I need to go lose five pounds.
I was 5 pounds underweight when I went to my recruiter, and she was freaking out, and the doc at MEPS gave me a stern talking to, questioning me and asking if I was bulemic or anorexic. Of course, this was the Army, not the air force
Just got my first paycheck as an E3, that was nice having an extra $35 in my pocket after TSP and taxes
Speaking of pay did anyone get a weird ass amount on the 15th? I got 400$ extra for some reason. The only thing I can think of was my month TDY 3 months ago, or the TDY last December, but I thought I already got those. Ugh now I have to deal with finance for the 6th time here, and they hardly know what they're doing.
May i ask what your crippling mental disorders are?
it was sort of a joke but even then i've kinda wanted to serve always. my doctors really have no idea and i've been in therapy for more than half my life. i'd guess schizophrenia and some really bad anxiety disorder. oh yeah and the cherry on top, IBS. which technically isn't a mental problem but for me it's all caused by mental stress. I'd never be able to serve i guess. unless they replaced my body or something. thing is i'd be able to handle myself out in combat much better than i would in a normal life. in the military everything's made to be simple and there's a solution to everything most of the time that's pretty apparent. i mean you get extensive training for these situations. when you're serving all you need to worry about is taking orders, eating and sleeping. (i know that's a gross over simplification of everything but understand i realize that and my point still stands) life in the military would be extremely simple for me. the less complex something is the less there is to get stressed out about. also i'm a hardy as fuck worker. oh, and constantly working would totally keep my mind busy, which is the best way for me to keep sane. [editline]22nd January 2013[/editline] i keep thinking peace corps... but since i like to smoke marijuana i don't think i'd like to get sent to a country to help them, only to get caught with some hash and get my hands cut off. i wouldn't have to smoke if i was in the service though, it's way cooler than the peace corps so i'd give it up just to join the military.
Military life from what ive been told by a lot of people is one of the most stressful things you can do, hence why they screen/make sure you dont have any psych issues. But dont take my word on it, im just in the process of enlisting. Also I got word back, i made it through my medical review, going to MEPS this Thursday/Friday to try to snag an HM rate for the second time, if I cant get it, im simply just going to contact the Army and go with 68W instead, but if i do that i need to put on 5 pounds to make the weight minimum.

Anyone got any tips for getting referrals in the DEP? my recruiting office has some really cool shit that they are willing to give out, such as a ka-bar.
Dude how was it
It was pretty cool. Did my night jump last night and i didn't land to well. Smacked my head pretty fucking hard.
Airborne? Pffft. Air Assault all the way!
Pfft. Fast roping.
Does anybody know if its possible to go from AST (Aircraft Structures Technician) to crew chief? Or the equivalent of crew cheif in the Royal Canadian Airforce.
Got into the Navy, got HM quad zero, ship out sept 4th. MEPS was a mess, I literally got lucky 4 different times through the day, and i guess a 5th considering how hard it is to get HM.

Soon enough you'll be a "Doc" (; , welcome to brotherhood. Where you'll be greatly under appreciated by seniors, marines, and patients alike. But at the end of the day in the barracks, you'll be the first person to get a knock on your door saying "Doc, I think I have a broken arm/the clap/foot fungus. Because even though we are under appreciated, the Marines know damn well who the first and best person to take care of them is. (;
Hey that's great. By chance, have you gotten orders yet?
September 4th, I go into active duty and go up north for Boot. Btw InvaderNogua, do you get your NREMT-B while in Corps A school? Since i have 9 months to wait, I may go ahead and get my EMT -B card, so i can go for my -I card by the time i get in, since -B is so inexpensive/cheap/easy to obtain.

If you have the certification before joining it will make you look shit hot, especially at your first command (they'll probably have you work in the ER/Firehouses). Plus it will help you breeze through your tests.
