Nope not in Corps school but you will go through the ENTIRE Brady book. If you have the certification before joining it will make you look shit hot, especially at your first command (they'll probably have you work in the ER/Firehouses). Plus it will help you breeze through your tests.
Ight, ill try to get my -B card after i graduate from HS.
September 4th, I go into active duty and go up north for Boot. Btw InvaderNogua, do you get your NREMT-B while in Corps A school? Since i have 9 months to wait, I may go ahead and get my EMT -B card, so i can go for my -I card by the time i get in, since -B is so inexpensive/cheap/easy to obtain.
I've been in Great Lakes since August 9th of this year and I will probably be here until late this year. Hooyah Fire Controlmen and our assload of school.
Just found out TurboTax is free for Active Duty Military. Neat.

It seems like everyone else gets issued camelbaks, we had to shell out $60 for ours
So I got put in the 1/509th opfor unit at Fort Polk. I guess i get to grow a beard.
It seems like everyone else gets issued camelbaks, we had to shell out $60 for ours
We had to as well, and we were never given the opportunity until AIT. Just two-quarts for Basic.

On a scale from 1-10 how horrendously annoying is the MILES(spelling?) system? 1 being nerf-gun, 10 being multiple car-alarms.
100. Heavy, stupid, old, doesn't work right, useless, awkward to move in. It is just awful.
SESIMS isn't much better. All the PPE makes it impossible to properly shoulder and aim your weapons, and the 9mm rounds are dirty as hell so you can guarantee you'll be cleaning them 5 times longer than what you spent training with them.
How does the national guard work modernly?
they carry muskets and fight for the revolution [editline]31st January 2013[/editline] and have nice hats
I'm in college (USA) and currently considering doing the Marine corps PLC between summers. Is there anyone who can tell me a little about it?
How physically fit do I need to be before enlisting?
How physically fit do I need to be before enlisting?
Good enough to get a good score on whatever service's standard pt test
How physically fit do I need to be before enlisting?
Plus you need to maintain a certain level of fitness if you plan on staying.
How physically fit do I need to be before enlisting?
Your branch should have a basic fitness standard for enlistment. I recommend look at their website or ringing up. [editline]7th February 2013[/editline] Also if there is any Australians here thinking of joining up, let me know I am in the current stages of going through my interviews and enlistment process etc.
My recruiting office CO got the idea that we aren't getting prepared enough for boot. my voice is gone and my legs are mush
How physically fit do I need to be before enlisting?
When you go down to MEPS, you dont do anything physical during your medical physical (unless you're in the marines or airforce, i know the marines make sure you are physically able to do push ups and pull ups, and the air force makes sure you can lift up a certain amount of weight), so if you're like me, you have a 7 month wait to ship out, means you have 7 months to get in "okayish shape" for boot camp. But for all you know, you may get down to MEPS, snag a good job that is in demand, and ship out pretty quickly. Just run and do push ups, thats what im doing, but im also bulking up, as i was instructed to do so at MEPS, since i was very close to the weight minimum.
I'm really not sure if I want to join the armed forces or not. I know that I want to be a pilot if I were to join, but not everyone can be a pilot. I know the marines guarantee a flight slot, but I'm not insane or tough enough to be in their boot camp. Air Force relies on getting into academy to get higher chance of slots but I can't get into academy with my grades and fitness level(endurance is fine, everything else is pathetic). Navy has a higher chance than Air Force if you don't go through Academy, but not much from what I found. I don't even care what I fly, the idea of getting paid to fly an aircraft sounds awesome, and there are neat aircraft in the military. But I also wouldn't mnd being an AE for private companies, since the pay is guaranteed higher there and I wouldn't have to move all over the place. And could most likely get a job in what I am interested in. What to do? Talk to a recruiter? More research? I'm interning at a tech company (friends with CEO) and visiting an Aerospace Engineering group in 2 weeks (also know CEO). Is there anyway for me to see what an average day is like for a military pilot? Im right near Fairchild AFB and the Wing Commander there said we could talk to him anytime if we had questions about joining or service(super nice guy)

It is another thing to consider, being a warrant officer for the Army, flying rotary wing. What were you interested in flying?

Remember, you CAN improve yourself. I went into boot camp, in the Corps, in TERRIBLE shape. 8 Pull ups, 60 crunches, and a 26 minute 3 mile. I still got through, though. I just got out on the first, and I ship out to SOI on the 11th. When I left boot, I was running a near perfect PFT. All I need is to bring my run time down to 18 minutes, which is going to take time, but hey. The point is, don't have that sort of "I can't do this" attitude. You CAN. You just need to try. (Also go to the Corps. We get the best uniforms.)
(Also go to the Corps. We get the best uniforms.)
Clearly you have never heard of or worn the Army Aircrew Combat Uniform. A2CU's are the best uniform in the armed forces, hands down.
I don't care in the slightest what I fly. I like helicopters and fixed wings, jets and transports, gunships and Chinooks. All the flying things are cool. Whats the time commitment for an Army warrant officer? Air force has the longest at like 10 years and navy has 8 years I believe

It would be entirely accurate to say that it is 8 years. Being an Army warrant officer is a pretty sweet gig. Your job is to fly. Warrant officers are not typical commissioned officers, in that they do not go on a staff tour, and they do not have a command. You also do not need a college degree to become one. I am submitting my application to be a warrant officer once I get back to the states myself. Army warrants are some of the coolest people in the military.
