Why is it that commissioned officer from other branches serve as pilots, but Army pilots are all warrant officers? Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm heading out to America soon for pre deployment training but the thing is I'll be 20. Will the locals love British squaddies and serve me anyway if I flash my army ID?

That 1lt in the first picture was my old XO when I was in boot.
Yeah. I'm leaning more towards Navy... mostly because pilot time commitment is lower, and the other job's in the Navy seem more enjoyable.
I was 92nd percentile for PSAT, and have a 3.6 Cumulative. Took AP World last year, and AP US History, Language and Composition, and Physics(holy shit this is hard) this year
Yeah, you most likely would not get in.
The PSAT doesn't mean anything, and a 3.6 is okay, but not good enough.
I know kids who got turned down by the academy who had perfect 4.0s, held various leadership roles in clubs, top athlete, shit ton of community service, had their recommendations and everything.

Not all Army pilots are warrant officers, just the absolute vast majority. The platoon leaders and the commander also fly. For us, that is a total of 3 commissioned officers that fly in my troop, compared to about 14 or so warrants. The reason is because warrant officer makes sense.
The Army realized that you don't need a college education to be able to fly helicopters, and we have a damn lot of aircraft. They don't have to pay an officer to do a job that can be done by someone else for less money. Warrant officers are experts in whatever field that they are in, 90% being rotary wing aviators.
Warrant officers simply make sense. It baffles me why they got rid of warrant officers in the Air Force. Well, now they are feeling the budget pain and they are super top-heavy with officers outnumbering enlisted.

There were whispers of them bringing warrants back a while back. Doubt'll happen though.
And fun fact: The squadron I'm assigned to go to after training is getting shut down within a year! Awesome. Chances are they'll switch me to J models, or another air frame altogether. That or make me reclass. I just love gettin jerked around like this.
Hey man, it happens. Just use extra lube for the green weenie.
Just got word that my cousin is leaving the marines March 1 after his contract is up. This comes as a surprise to everyone since he was a die-hard marine. He loved what he did. Apparently some bullshit happened with promises that didnt fall through and hes fed up with it.

It happens man. I have heard it happens more often in the Marine Corps than the other services.
Speaking of promises I now no longer have a 90k re-enlistment bonus. Now it's down to a good ole' fat ZERO. And 2 of my 5 upcoming TDYs were canceled.
I really wanted to go to the Deid :(
Skeea where were you were deployed to again? I completely forgot.

I was deployed to Salerno. I was also at BAF and Gardez.
Hey gents, good luck on your future service. I'm taking a little break from FP, mainly the Sensationalist Headlines section. Too many dumb fucks over there for me, that I'm gonna post something I will regret later and get banned.
Anyway, good luck with wherever your life takes you! And thank you for your service, all the current, former, and future military members. Without you, the world would be filled with even more violence.
So this is way down the road, but I want to try to do HM 84101 C-school, which is Search and Rescue, but my only concern is the flight physical.
So anyone who has taken a flight physical, what are the requirements to pass it for a crewman position?
Specifically, the eye exam. I failed the really shitty depth perception test at MEPS that usually gets 80% of the applicants that go through.

Yeah, all the meps ones are shitty.Comin from air force, They'll do a more thorough one at flight med, and if ya fail that, they may take you back and have ya do an even more thorough one, which is what happened to me at BMT.
According to my recruiter, MEPS instated a new system, were they classify you based of the conditions of your eyes, and they did this a few days after I DEP'd in, so I have no idea what they put me as.
Hopefully they classified me with "Functional and Good" eyesight. We've been trying to find out, as it would give me a good idea on how I would fair to a flight physical down the road.
Goodnight, my sweet prince.
