It has to be fake. Even though the lightning was that close there would still be a very slight delay between the flash and the sound. You would know this if you've ever been close to a lightning strike. Also the explosion sound abruptly cuts off when you would expect it to at least fade out a bit. Rate informative.

Dude, if he was hit by a car you wouldn't hear a slight delay. Thunder moves at the speed of sound silly, just like all other sounds. Hence instasound.
As for the sound the fading that's an effect of echoes between vallies or hills. Or just the same sound bouncing off any surface. Coming from someone who has been 30 meters from lightning.
