How about a Mazdaspeed3?
for $4k? i don't think that's going to happen
for $4k? i don't think that's going to happen
Agreed, but just asking how they are in terms of reliability and things you've heard about them.
There are sporty Accords that do a lot of what you want (i.e. look sporty, have an alright sound) I got a Honda Prelude for $4000, and albeit while I overpayed for it, the Prelude was really just a sporty adaptation of the Accord line. My car even shares the F22 engine with Accords from the same year. It has a nice rumble, gets 21MPG city and 28MPG highway, is still pretty damn fast, looks nice enough and Hondas are pretty damn reliable cars.
imo, i have a honda civic and the inner fanboy is coming out in me saying that honda is probably your best choice for reliability and price.
I know it's weeks old but meh: Knowing you from how the way you post and saying it's your first car, I'd forget about the dreams of owning a WRX/Camaro. You shouldn't buy a car you know nothing about or why you want them other than, "it sounds good." Like /o/ would say, get a Civic and get it over with. Get a commuter car first, because everyone knows here in AA, having a tuner/muscle/exotic/beater for a daily is suck. If I had a choice I would have bought some reliable Accord/Camry instead of my 240sx. Nissans are great. They are reliable, sporty and somewhat rare for a coupe. Just make sure they have been well maintained or do all the necessary maintenance because they are a finnicky brand. I have a 240sx and it gets great gas economy as well as being extremely sporty without overdoing it. Lightweight, and tough utilizing truck engines in the USDM versions. Lots of upgradeable/aftermarket parts if something goes wrong and it's a cheap and easy fix with lots of internet resources. Go Honda/Toyota if you'd just want a commuter car. My GF uses a Corolla with close to 300,000 miles and it's running strong. Then later when you have enough money and time, buy the car of your mechanic dreams. A Subaru isn't the best tuner out there you know. The sound comes from the exhaust system and transmission
