Hier pendant la nuit j'étais avec mon frères et quelques amis sur une colline et on a observé des étoiles filantes. Je ne sais pas pourquoi exactement mais hier les étoiles filantes étaient plus visibles.
Ah oui? Tu as pris des photos? :v:
Je suis past vraiment une personne qui prend des photos, j'oublie toujours mon appareil de photo et je n'ai past de smartphone.
C'est rare des gens sans smartphone. Moi j'ai juste un portable tout pourri avec des pixels morts partout sur l'écran.

je m'ennuie
I always hated verb conjugation in French class. It seemed that for every verb that followed the "rules" there were just as many that were their own special little snowflakes with unique conjugation that you just had to memorize. However, thanks to a catchy as fuck song they played in class in 4th grade right when we started learning French I will never forget how to conjugate avoir.
The french language is entirely compromised by irregular verb conjugation and full of extra rules and endings for each word. It's really hard at first although you get used to it at some point. That said I started learning french in 3th grade and we had to write three different verbs ten times down in every tense. If we made more than three mistakes on those 30 pages, we had to redo them all. It's absolutely tedious and totally brainless, that said those conjugations are now stuck in my head forever.

Hey. I don't speak french. But I want to join the legion in about 1.5 years. Any advice? What is the general french opinion on americans? Does anyone have any information? I've gathered what I can from the internet but I want to hear from actual people.
Thank you, and sorry for intruding your section. Hopefully I get some serious responses...
I went to America a couple of times when I was younger but every time people spoke to me I barely understood what they said, but it changed now.
Where I live (a town not so far from Paris) people are fascinated not by Americans but rather by people who can speak english correctly, American or not :v:
Well that's good to hear. My worry was some stereotype that americans suck or something. Because i would not be surprised at all. Haha
I have a feeling learning french may be difficult, it seems like a complex language but I think I can accomplish it once everyone is speaking it and I have no choice. Hopefully..

americans are generally seen as cool people but they're all fat and their lack of healthcare sucks
also if you ask older frenchies they think americans only care about money
[editline]18th August 2014[/editline]
also yeah as Shenesis said it's surprisingly rare to see english speakers in France, and you get a lot of respect for it
How much do the French hate the Quebecois or people other than the French who try to speak French?
How much do the French hate the Quebecois or people other than the French who try to speak French?
Not much, as far as I know. In the worst case scenario, they'd make fun of your accent a bit (although that's something they do among themselves most of the time, rarely are they rude enough to do this in front of non-French). The Belgian are often the subject of some popular jokes but not much more than that, except perhaps near the border where there might be some tension.
I'd say non-French French speakers are seen as more optimistic and less bleak than the French themselves, but that's just my impression.

Did you get some info on the legion itself? My father was in the air force and had to do some training near a legion camp and according to him it's pretty tough, and the recruits there are not the brightest nor the kindest.
Yeah ive looked into it as much as possible. Did he mention any details of what he saw?

Nah it was just his impression, it's probably not very accurate.

Unfortunately finding anything that IS accurate is very difficult
Seeing as the rest of Facepunch reject me because of flagdog thinking I'm French, I thought I would try and find some solace here :(
