I like Biology too.
Religion = :fuckoff: = science
I heard there was science going on in here.
When did the OIFY get in here?
When did the OIFY get in here?
OIFYology.
I want to be like gordon freeman when i grow up.
Not a scientist, but a box pusher in an underground facility.
Y'know, the guy that gets the MIT education but only ever DOES the tests instead of sets them up and records observations.

Because physics is the study of why things are
Superconductors, Electromagnets, High Powered Lasers!
Also, https://lasers.llnl.gov/
I do work with lasers. High power is not everything, trust me :)
I especially work on an optical dipole trap for Magnesium. Currently I use a 10.5 W Laser (that bitch costs > $100,000) @ 532 nm.
The whole experiment is huge. To supply our MOT we use a Dye-Laser which is pumped by the same 10.5 W Laser which I use. The Dye-Laser emits around 1 W @ 571 nm and is stabilized on a cavity and by spectroscopy.
After that, the Laserlight of that Dye-Laser is frequency-doubled to 285nm which corresponds to the 1S->1P transistion of Magnesium-24. This light is used for cooling. After that, we use our clock-laser @ 457 nm to use the stricly-forbidden (that's just a name - Actually it is possible) transition from 1S->3P. There we do another MOT with the triplet system with a diode-laser which is frequency doubled to 383 nm.
After all that, my 10.5 W Laser is focussed on the MOT and the atoms are loaded into that focus. This is called a single-beam-dipole-trap
Later, there are plans to create an optical-lattice-clock (also a dipole trap but with a standing wave configuration) at the magic wavelength which is supposed to be at/near 470 nm.
The idea later is to use that clock-transition (1S->3P), which is strictly-forbidden. This means, it is small. Very small. Also known as "really unlikely". This is has the advantage that the measured frequency is quite exact, because the width of this transition limits the accuracy. As smaller it is, as better you can measure it.
The frequency also is measured by a frequency-comb.
No need to mention this experiment is fucking sensible, big and complex. (As far as I know it's around 10+ years old).
:science: is awesome.
Science is awesome, astronomie and biology being my favourites :buddy:
Yeah, aliens is the way :c00l:
Our loving Heavenly Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to show us how to live meaningful and happy lives and experience eternal joy after this life.
Heavenly Father loves you and wants you to live in His presence after this life. His plan, called the gospel of Jesus Christ, will lead you back to Him if you choose to follow it.
The gospel of Jesus Christ is simple. It begins with faith in Jesus Christ. Faith in Jesus Christ is believing in Him, trusting Him, and depending on Him. Faith in Jesus Christ leads you to want to change your life for the better. Through repentance, you change those thoughts, desires, habits, and actions that are not in harmony with God’s teachings. Heavenly Father promises that when you repent, He will forgive your sins.
Faith in Jesus Christ and repentance prepare you for baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost. Jesus Christ taught that everyone must be baptized of water and of the Spirit for the forgiveness of sins. Through baptism by one who holds God’s priesthood authority and through receiving the Holy Ghost, you will be spiritually reborn. After baptism, God promises to give you the gift of the Holy Ghost, who will guide, comfort, and help you know and recognize truth.
The gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored through revelation from God to the Prophet Joseph Smith and other prophets. You can know for yourself that these things are true by asking Heavenly Father in prayer.
The green laser-pointers are more powerfull.
They are frequency-doubled Nd:YAG lasers. The "real" laser of a "green" laserpointer (532 nm) is an infrared Nd:YAG laser at 1064 nm. Totally invisible. Then there is a non-linearic crystal which doubles the frequency to 532 nm.
And since you need higher powers in order to double frequencies, a 200 mW green laser could have a 800 mW Nd:YAG laser in the first place. Pure win! (Don't disassemble if you have no idea what you do. I do not take any responsibilities for any injuries. Lasers can be dangerous. I once burned my hand a bit on a 1 W laser and my 10 W laser can - if focussed through a lense - burn through steel).
God is better.
God doesn't have lasers, he's not as cool as science :smugdog:
This is what happens when Facepunch is given a topic to discuss freely.
My science level is low only like 34, lockpicking is better, work on that.
I'm rather keen on the robotic side of science, and as such intend to start studying AI in October. Should be interesting, to say the least.
Also, power armour.

They are still in upper parts of atmosphere where the outer pressure us MUCH lower than inside the ship.
Inside the ship, there is a pressure of 1 atm (approximately) and outside, there can be pressures of 10^-4 atm. This difference is hard and leads to the alien getting suck out into vacuum.

Chemistry is my favorite form of science.
physics makes the world go round
I like biology
I love that song.
I like physics but im not that good at maths :( I like biology occasionally... .. and well, chemistry idk..
