usually full auto isn't allowed on most paintball fields because if one ball hits you, you can be sure as fuck that another 5 or 6 will hit the exact same spot a second later.
semi auto is allowed, if you're good at walking the trigger then it'll be just as good as full auto, the difference is that with full auto you will usually hit spot on because the balls will make a "line" or a "sling" as we call it here where i live. Which makes it seem like a sling or a line when you shoot.
with semi-auto your accuracy will decrease in a way. It's hard to describe unless you've got experience. I've only played for a year and i've not played in competive play yet so i my information is quite limited.

Yes, the ones at the site are similar to machine guns anyway, but semi-automatic.
They can basically fire as fast as you can pull the trigger.
If you have your own gun though you can use an E-trigger which lets the gun fire automatically.

if you have a tippmann, ditch the etrigger and spare the money so that you can buy for example an proto SLG which is around 200 bucks.

if you like competive play and more action oriented sport, paintball.
if you like realism and milsim, go for airsoft.
