I just say "naaaahhhhhh" in a very annoying voice when people try to offer me crap!
Gamestop is pretty much this:

Buy my games from GamesMania or Free Record Shop, just hang around talk with these guys and recieve discounts and get the games early before they even come out.
Top of that its just you give the game and pay and have a chat with the guy.
Never-ever been prompted with any "deals" or shit like that

GameMania is a great store
Yeah I don't really get this, I got that card or whatever just to keep my trade in money on but I don't really get bothered. This is EB games BTW but same company.
the local play n trade near me is very nice. the owner is always there, and hes funny and nice too.
I buy my hard copies form internet store called VPD. They have tax-free games and free delivery to Finland. Also they ship damn fast: I got Skyrim and L.A. Noire the day they were released. Last time I visited a GaymeStop was with my dad since he only buys old and used games.
My experience is esentially Mysteryman's, but I start talking games and hardware with the clerk (one guy atleast, a Danish-moved-to-Sweden guy that works at the closest GameStop to me.
Cool guy, very friendly.
For a 60$ game you get about 30$ in store credit. Then they sell it for around 50$. I really dont think its all that bad of a deal. I just did it recently with Battlefield 3 and bought Skyrim. Gamestop catches a awful lot of shit but your not gonna get a better deal many other places.
You get 30$ (in the best case scenario) and developers of your favorite game that you just sold get buttfucked for 50$. That's just...fuck!
Very true, good thing steam exists
Agree. I haven't bought a single game since HL2 release or so and I'm not fucking planning to, with the exception of Collectors Edition stuff ofcorse but I usually order those from internet.
my local gamestop is alright, not forcing deals down the throat and we only trade in games we barley even play, yet get a decent amount for some of them even though they were ps2 games

Im sure the millions the developer has already made will soften the blow of the 50$.
Funny how this actually is true. My dad just wants the game delivered now because of all the delays.
I never have an issue with product pushing at my local Gamestop. Its usually just "do you have a power card" and "do you want to preorder anything today" and that's it.

That's a crappy excuse, GameStop earns (effectively steals) just as much profit from "Buttfucking".
And what if developers of that game don't earn the millions necessary to pay all their employees and start a new project? The company will go bankrupt, people will lose their jobs and that game series will never see the light of day again.

If the developers didnt earn the millions necessary then it was do to overall poor sales, not gamestop reselling a small portion of games.

Small? Let's assume that every GameStop store, resells just 10 copies of a certain game, for 50$ each.
The total revenue loss from that will be a little more than 3-fucking-million dollars.
That's whole 2.5% of total revenue of such major AAA titles as Halo.
While big companies like Bungie can take a revenue hit of 3 million dollars, small and medium sized developers can easily crumble under a hit like that.
If you give two shits about the future of your favorite game developers, you better not resell your games.

GameStop is the cancer on the game industry :colbert:

But they havent. I have never heard of a developer going out of business because of the reselling of games from gamestop. Im sure they do lose some profit but if it was a company destroying practice those companys could take serious legal action against it. But they tolerate it because selling from gamestop obviously brings in more money than it loses.
I remember when I was younger I brought in like 9 games and got only 20$ I thought it was a good deal at the time, those fuckers!

They would because places like GameStop are leeching their profit but they can't because of the way law works.
Maybe it's not too big loss, "just" 3% of the profit, but you can't say that it doesn't matter, that's just being ignorant.
I've played Call of Battlefield. Fun game.
