Thanks for posting that. I found it very entertaining.
I love Moonlight Sonata, it just clicks.
I find classical music generally entertaining, but I believe you have to be in the right frame of mind for it. Though, in my opinion, if people can pull off some of the complex violin classical music, they are automatically a bad ass. Fucking love the violin.
Huh, I thought I was the only Facepunch member who liked classical music :v:
Is it a problem that I've never liked the big-time dudes like Bach or Mozart, but still enjoy classical music?
Seems I like everything but the classical classical, the music in this thread doesn't sound that nice to me.
That's totally fine. I think Mozart is dreadfully boring sometimes.
I had nothing more than a Rock background, but I ended up going to a classical conservatory, so I had to dive headfirst into this stuff.
Bach is really dense and you may not find it very expressive. The style is so different that even his best works aren't going to do anything for you right away. The expression comes out in a different way.
Bach was an incredibly good composer though. My teacher loves to pick out all of these crazy little techniques he used that the next era of composers basically tossed out the window.
Now, around the late Romantic and into the Impressionistic periods...THAT'S where things start to get interesting.
Debussy is awesome. He approached composition in a totally different manner. His music is textural; it doesn't always have a strong melody, but it's very atmospheric and just sounds really good overall.
In my opinion, things went backwards for awhile during the classical period and then they just got better and better until pretty far into the twentieth century. Atonal music is just so hard to approach.

Watch what you say about Bach. He made a shitload of music, and it's very diverse...
