You're completely wrong. Respect is to be earned, it's not something you get automatically from being a parent. If my dad was legitimately a dumb ass that's completely close-minded and I didn't see any redeeming qualities or reasons as to why I would respect him I wouldn't.
Now, as long as your parents feed and clothe you, you shouldn't treat them like shit.
