If I remember correctly, .223 is not too much bigger than .22.
Although .223 has a lot more powder propelling it. So it goes through more.

You don't understand ballistics at all. Holes can be repaired if there's just one hole. If you've got a foreign object tumbling around your body for days, you're done for and you wouldn't even know it. You can pull out a large caliber bullet with relative ease. .22's are very difficult to find and until you do they will bomb around your shit, tearing holes and causing bleeds all over the place.

No it isn't. They're similar but they aren't the same and they do not act the same.
Furthermore, the mere fact that it's packed into a rifle cartridge alone changes its behavior upon penetration. .22 pistol rounds tumble so much in part due to the fact that there is relatively little force behind them.

I was saying that. There is more punch-though power in a .223, but it still tumbles a bit.
5.56 mm is the same as .223 inches.

They are different rounds. Relative size is similar but their behaviors, shapes and packings are different.
That's like saying a .357 magnum is the same as a .357 Sig when the two are radically different.
