I said there *wasn't* a "fat tax". If Skinny Man and Fat Man live in the same type of house in the same neighbourhood and have the same income, they more or less pay the same taxes, which go towards things like healthcare.
I know there isn't. But apparently they put a strain on it, so they raise it, yes? They STILL pay the SAME tax as you. Why are you whining? That money is used on everyone, for every reason. You aren't the one who can say one life style, is illegal because of the tax cost.

America isn't the most overweight Country anymore.
some fat things are cute, take the heavy from tf2 for example
Because Fat Man is the reason Skinny Man's taxes went up!
And fat man pays the same taxes. You don't have a right to take away one mans style of life because you don't fucking like it. What's not to get?
yeah lets blame fast food and not the whales themselves
yeah lets blame fast food and not the whales themselves
Exactly what I'm trying to say.
also my cat is fat,I called it peanut
That's pleasant.
I ate 4 Corn Dogs, 5 pieces of bread, 1 piece of fried chicken, and 6 Oreos before reading the thread.
And fat man pays the same taxes. You don't have a right to take away one mans style of life because you don't fucking like it. What's not to get?
Because I shouldn't have to subsidize others in that way. It isn't that I "don't like it", it's that because Fat Man can't control his appetite, Skinny Man is forced to pay more taxes. Say a politician wants a new BMW - he pays for it with his federal credit card, and your taxes go up as a result. Would you accept that? Of course not! It doesn't matter that I pay the same taxes as fat people, the point is that I shouldn't be subsidizing their healthcare in the first place. I don't mind helping to pay for social services and healthcare for those that can't help themselves (the elderly who inevitably require hospitalization, orphans, or the disabled), but being fat is generally different.

What's not to get? If you really want to cut the shit, just about every medical condition is in some way preventable. So is fat, so do we just say fuck everyone because you don't like it? One is just uncomfortable, and yet you're trying to compare it to an illegal act. If you make being fat illegal, then well, fuck freedom, and fuck everything because that is quite honestly a "fascist' or dictatorial view.
Because one is against the law, and one is just uncomfortable for you. What's not to get?
I don't really understand what you're arguing against. Why exactly am I obligated to pay more taxes so people can eat themselves to death?
I don't really understand what you're arguing against. Why exactly am I obligated to pay more taxes so people can eat themselves to death?
I don't understand what you're arguing for. You're saying a life style should be illegal because you don't like it. They pay for it too. And again, THAT'S NOT YOUR FUCKING RIGHT TO DECIDE FOR ANYONE.
I don't understand what you're arguing for. You're saying a life style should be illegal because you don't like it. They pay for it too. And again, THAT'S NOT YOUR FUCKING RIGHT TO DECIDE FOR ANYONE.
I'm not saying it should be illegal, I'm saying we should be working to prevent people from becoming obese. They pay for it, and they rightly should. Why should I?
I'm not saying it should be illegal, I'm saying we should be working to prevent people from becoming obese. They pay for it, and they rightly should. Why should I?
Because that's your commitment as a citizen of the country.
If people wish to be obese they have the right too. I may not like it, i may not promote it but who the fuck are we to say what they can and cannot be. Some people can't help it, there are genetic factors that are actually linked to obesity, another reason for it could be hormonal problems. And if you're in America don't give me the bullshit "MY TAXES ARE PAYING FOR IT" because you're not paying for them at all, in fact they're the ones paying the price with higher insurance premiums. And are you really surprised? I mean look at the economy, people are getting extremely tight with their money so when they eat they will go to a fast food restaurant because it is cheap and filling. What makes this situation worse? the fact to create a fresh and healthy meal costs a lot more then getting some cheap horribly unhealthy food.
For the record, I think buying fast food is much more expensive than making something fresh at home. For example, take my family. 100% of the time we eat, it's something we make from food we buy at the grocery store. Fairly healthy choices, I might add. Now, we always used to eat at fast food restaurants. When my parents were constantly working. Up until my mom broke her back at work and got onto Social Security Disability (Which happened around 2002-2003.) Ever since then, we've been eating fast food less and less, and about three years ago we took it out of our lifestyles almost 100%. It's just too damned expensive. I can go to KFC and spend $10 on five shitty chicken wings, some biscuits, and mashed potatoes. Or, I can go to the local Shop N' Save and buy something much better for much less. This post is mainly directed at the OP for mentioning that tight budgets will increase obesity rates. In my perspective, the obesity rates will begin to diminish. I, for one, am not spending any money on any form of fast food, and I'm sure that the rest of the obese persons in America will make that claim sooner or later.
Because that's your commitment as a citizen of the country.
No it isn't. The government recognized this when it came to smokers, which is why cigarettes are now $13/pack.
No it isn't. The government recognized this when it came to smokers, which is why cigarettes are now $13/pack.
They don't tax smokers, they tax SMOKES. It's a different case. Smokes are a product, Fat people aren't a product, and can't be taxed more, entirely different. Of course we should promote health, but forcing it is fucking bullshit.
I bet they would get more grocery foods if they had a drive through. Most don't wanna get the fuck out the car so they go to those fast food places
The fact of the matter is, if you're hungry and have zilch cash to buy that piece of shit burger from Burger King, you'll make a choice to get something else from somewhere else.
They don't tax smokers, they tax SMOKES. It's a different case. Smokes are a product, Fat people aren't a product, and can't be taxed more, entirely different. Fat people eat too much, it damages their health, and they are free to eat less and exercise more. I am happy to help pay for others that cannot help themselves, the elderly, disadvantaged children, and disabled people. I am happy to pay into the Canada Pension Plan because it benefits everyone, especially those with a lower income. I do not feel it is my responsibility to pay increased taxes because John Q. Public stuffed his face until he needed triple bypass surgery at the public expense.
I'm proud to be an obese American reppin 115 at 5' 11" fo life!

Too bad you can't see that, and also can't see you have no fucking right to infringe on others lifestyles. Do I like fat people? no more than I like normal people, do I think I have a right to tell them how to live? Fuck no I don't.

I already said I don't think being fat should be illegal or whatever, so no, I'm not advocating "infringing on the others lifestyles". I'm for public education and programmes aimed at decreasing obesity levels and helping people be more fit. No need to get so worked up.

I did explain the difference, you ignored it. What's to argue? You'll ignore any point you don't agree with.

Soooooo if your definatly obese which causes health problems as well, why not pay more for that. What your saying is smokers should not have to pay more but let everyone who doesnt smoke support them by helping to pay their increased health rates?
