Well actually smokers do pay more for healthcare because they do smoke. Soooooo if your definatly obese which causes health problems as well, why not pay more for that. What your saying is smokers should not have to pay more but let everyone who doesnt smoke support them by helping to pay their increased health rates?
Why not pay more for being underweight as well then? It's unhealthy to. Why not tax people who drink, chose to be in any situation they can't really control? Hmm...

I explained that. You ignored it already. Jesus.

Oh yeah, you really did
Well, you obviously don't get the difference, so you can't be argued with. It is entirely different.

Oh yeah, you really did
Really? You read my posts? Oh dear, you didn't...
laval, do you hang around with people with a criminal record?
Do you operate heavy machinery at work?
Drink alcohol?
Ever speed in your car?
Walk outside in a thunderstorm?
Then you're a higher risk of needing medical attention and I feel I shouldn't have to pay taxes to support your dangerous and unhealthy habits. TAX TAX TAX TAX TAX

Because I added scathing sarcasm and assholery.

Well, what you said isn't even true. Almost very medical condition is preventable? I'm quite sure it's easier to stay skinny than it is to avoid getting a common disease like cancer.

Those are things more or less everyone does over their lifetime (aside from alcohol sometimes, which IS taxed heavily and controlled).
The segment of the population that is healthy subsidizes the healthcare costs of the segment that is fat. As such, we should be helping people lose weight so that our taxes don't rise and our health system doesn't get overburdened. It's not hard to stay skinny, and most people are skinny from childhood. I know people don't want to accept responsibility for their actions, but it isn't as if obesity is some disease you caught. If you're overweight, chances are it's your own fault.

Actually, what I said is very true. The majority of medical conditions have a cause, that you do something to cause, and have some influence on, thus are preventable if you take proper care of yourself. Being fat falls in the same category. So why act any differently? Oh right, you don't like it.

Because it's quite easy to avoid becoming fat.

People who live in lower density developments where there are fewer people paying for services like sewerage and roadworks pay higher property taxes.
People who live in lower density developments where there are fewer people paying for services like sewerage and roadworks pay higher property taxes.
Okay then, people who use the healthcare more often get an increase in rates?
Because it's quite easy to avoid becoming fat.

It's also quite easy to avoid a lot of things that cause taxes to go up in the same way. So what's there difference.... Oh, again, you don't like it.
[editline]12:12AM[/editline]
Okay then, people who use the healthcare more often get an increase in rates?
Oh god no, too complicated, and... and THEY'RE STILL FAT THAT'S NOT WHAT I WANTED MOMMY!!!!

No they don't.
No they don't.
Then they should?

Stop being childish =/ you've been so incivil
No they don't.
...You like missing things.. He said they should. Not that they did. Jesus.
Then they should?
That wouldn't be fair to those who have chronic health conditions they have no control over, though.
Stop being childish =/ you've been so incivil
Because civility is totally required. You're being uncivil by saying fat people have no right to that lifestyle because you don't want to pay for it.
...You like missing things.. He said they should. Not that they did. Jesus.
No he didn't, the sentence was a bit ambiguous and I misunderstood.

Question mark kind of indicates that..
Because civility is totally required. You're being uncivil by saying fat people have no right to that lifestyle because you don't want to pay for it.
That isn't incivil, it's my valid opinion...
I'm not saying they don't have a right to the lifestyle, I just think we should be discouraging it.

No it doesn't!
No he didn't, the sentence was a bit ambiguous and I misunderstood.
This is true. Though why not design the system, so that when a person has a chronic condition, his rates don't go up for a problem related to that condition?
Lets tax fat people.
That isn't incivil, it's my valid opinion...

An opinion saying people that choose to live a certain way is "wrong" is valid, albeit, stupid as shit.
This is true. Though why not design the system, so that when a person has a chronic condition, his rates don't go up for a problem related to that condition?
Maybe like, a maximum cap on what a person pays for healthcare would be fair. It'd be cheaper for first-timers, and go up a little over time, to encourage people to stay healthy.

Or they can smoke, drink, and eat as much as they want, as long as they can afford their rates.
But yeah, I think the tax on smokes are bullshit though, they were created before health-care and are more lifestyle curbing, then for any reason.
Or they can smoke, drink, and eat as much as they want, as long as they can afford their rates.
As if anyone should have personal freedoms.
As always there's a happy medium between overweight and underweight. Of course if you're underweight verging on anorexia it's unhealthy, and of course if you're overweight to the point where you can't walk it's unhealthy. Being five or ten pounds overweight or underweight never hurt anyone.
Wow, according to the BMI, I'm overweight. (I'm 1m 74 cm high and 64 kg).
But still, fat people. It's just gross.
