having listened to PT a lot during my teenage years I actually vastly prefer his solo stuff now and his other collabs - not too keen on a PT reunion if its only on the same standard of quality as the Incident which was a bad album
his latest one is so great, I love it. the music video and song especially - animated by the woman who does the animation for postman pat. How much more english can you get? PTn was like my foundational band for getting into music and his word was the word of god for me like 4 years ago and I don't regret that in the slightest because it all worked out okay
in terms of other modern prog I would say its fair to mention a lot of Radiohead's output, and anything from the kscope label
If you're into modern prog, look up www.burningshed.com and hit up the kscope store. Literally a whole record label dedicated to bands that mix prog with modern genres, and reissues old prog works
TRTRTS kinda reminds me of radiohead actually
I finally found the entire Hyde Park recording on youtube for King Crimson's opening debut performance. The same one that blew 500,000 hippies away including Jimi Hendrix who later shook fripps hand.
Ok media tags aren't working for me anymore here is the link

when robert fripp dies im going to cry like a baby
I'm a huge Rush fan and I'm off to see them in London this may (They didn't come to Newcastle this year for some reason)
Could've gone to Glasgow, it's probably closer to Newcastle than London
Shit RIP.
I got more shit to post
This is an extremely rare album, These guys are fucking amazing and I can't even find any sort of information about them online. This album might be my favorite find of the year, it's like funk bebop jazz prog rock from 1974, the tracks are slick and fast paced, the drummer is absolutely amazing and their compositions are great. These guys aren't even on Progarchives.com. I just love the musical taste of this band.

Oh dude, great find. Haven't heard these guys before and they're really good, wow

Wow. I need more information on this band, it's great. Indefinitely obscure.
Having done some research the band is actually called MAX, not Rodan, but the album name is Rodan. MAX was apparently a band formed by former members of the Elastik band who were kind of a little bit well known I guess, but they only released that one album as MAX before disbanding. Shame really, that's some good shit there.
i'm going to see opeth in may. excited as fuck
I saw them on Tuesday. It was fucking incredible.
You're in for a treat.

When Steven Wilson dies I'm going to have a week of mourning for the glorious leader.
forgot wilson was 45 lol, I thought he was in his early 30s. :v:
He still looks pretty young
listening to the 40th anniversary king crimson remasters... they're mAgnificent.
[editline]16th March 2013[/editline]
the last section of in the court is unbelievably heavy, like it's never sounded..
[sp]I thought Dark Side Of The Moon was half shit and half amazing[/sp]
[sp]I also thought In The Court Of The Crimson King was kind of meh[/sp]

you could at least go into detail otherwise it's as pointless as a youtube comment.

swilson is good at production
Have you heard the Lizard remixes? Its by far the best one of the lot. Actually turns Lizard into one of the top, if not the very top Crimson album of the 70s.
the Red one is coming soon - but apparently its a lot more subtle than the others because production standards were already so high on Red to begin with. I'm glad to hear that tbh. I like how Red sounds already.

only listened to Court and Wake. I never thought they could ever sound this good.
Can't wait to hear lizard and islands. it's been a good 2 years since I heard them last, I reckon these remasters will rekindle my love for their music.
I've only listened to Lizard so far so I need to pick up the other ones
Lizard is just fantastic, especially considering it was slammed on release and the production was so horrible at the time. I still liked it but once I heard the 40th anniversary remasters it became one of my favourite albums of all time. Certainly goes down as one of the most complex and ambitious albums of the 70s.
DGM Live got The Raven That Refused to Sing Box Set/Book thing in their store, but it sold out before I had a chance to buy it :(
Are there any stores still selling this thing?

Spoiler abuse
terrible post with no reasoning behind it
You are destined for posting success I can tell
a real gem all prog fans need to have is the hour and a bit track "Keep that one, Nick" by King Crimson.
It's literally the bowels of how Larks' Tongues in Aspic was created, amazing...

listening to it now, definitely feel what you're saying.
never remember it sounding this good.
"My Father's drum kit has many toms." -Prog Rock Jesus
The only remaster I've listened to is In Court, and barring Moonchild they all sounded much better. I may just be biased against Moonchild, though
I've listened to Court's, Red's and Larks' remasters.
Court and Larks were fantastic, but I didn't really like Red's.
They ruined the claps in One More Red Nightmare :(
really want to the hear the 5.1 mix of Red. don't have a 5.1 setup though...
maybe a quad setup would work but i dunno if it would be the same.
not sure if Tool counts as prog, but I really dig them.

Red in 5.1 is sublime, even if the only way I could listen to it in surround properly is if I sat cross-legged in the middle of the room. :v:
