thing is, I just wish that dude would come up with something new.
It's like I pretty much know what I'm in for if I go for a solo record of his. I wasn't surprised one bit by the production either, it was "cleaned, polished and dusted" the same as he's done for years. Even the vocal is done the same, literally sounds the same as it always has.
Just shoot this fucking heathen.
You are right though, you know what your getting before you put the CD on.
I really liked Wilson's new album
morrissey was good after smiths so that's not always the case
Yeah but the smiths didn't rely on sonics, that was pure guitar
I enjoyed it too, but agree that it wasn't very original. Saw people in Youtube comments saying "Wow, Steven Wilson is so original and doesn't sound like any other band", but in my opinion a lot of the stuff on the new album just reminded me of 70s prog band like Genesis. I found the album to be a good listen though.
what the crap?
i was listening to this:

and didn't even realise it was a Steven Wilson collab :v:
He doesn't sing on it though.
Seriously good stuff.

very far away from anything he's done before.
Who's that on the album cover? I hope it's not Steven...
since the name of the album is jesus i assume it's jesus
What do you folks think of The Power To Believe?
It's not exactly a bad album, but I've only ever listened to it about three times. I think I forgot it existed for a while

Yeah, I used to listen to it quite a lot a year or 2 ago, but then also kind of forgot about it.
Listened to it again yesterday and now I'm loving it.
I'll try listening to it again, I don't remember it too well
What do you folks think of The Power To Believe?
Quite good. If it's the last album they release, it'll be fine.

Honestly, I think it's a shame.
I would've loved to see King Crimson doing more of this style.
fripp's retired so that ain't gonna happen.
the last projeKct album was chilled, and really far away from King Crimson sounds.
What do you folks think of The Power To Believe?
I actually developed a fear of ConstruKtion and the Power to Believe. I didn't like them because they felt like I was sitting in a world where only factories remained. Maybe I should try relistening, but it'd require a lot of courage. Enjoyed the most recent Projekct much more.
Listened to it again, still hasn't really left much of an impression. I liked it while it was playing, but now it's not I can't really remember anything about it

You haven't listened to No-Man before? It was his more commercially successful project in the early 90s. Returning Jesus is a great album - 2003. Try Schoolyard Ghosts as well. It was released after and it's really awesome too.
These guys actually did work when they first started as a collab that predated Trip Hop by a good 5 years. Pretty cool

I really liked it though. A Scarcity of Miracles was one of my favorite songs of 2011.

I agree. Steve's resting on his laurels for the moment it seems which is a shame. I loved Grace for Drowning because in ways it didn't sound like a Steven Wilson album, but was also instantly recognizable.
When I first discovered Steve and PT they became a very important to me because I had never heard anything like it and they always found ways to surprise me. Now Steve seems to have found a niche and is just sticking to it, which is a pity.
That said considering the majority of us thought Grace for Drowning was quite unique/quite good and that Storm Corrosion was good and unique then really its probably a bit silly to say he's 'fallen into a niche' when it's just the one album
he does have a niche sound but actually I think in the majority of his most recent output he's strayed away from it into more exciting territory. pity Raven didn't. Maybe the next one will.
My dad just bought us tickets to see YES in Indianapolis two days before the school year starts. So excited. They just started their 2013 "world" tour playing The Yes Album, Close to the Edge and Going For the One.
I hear they're still good live, may have to catch a concert some time.
What do you guys think of Transatlantic?
What do you guys think of Transatlantic?
Bridge Across Forever is fantastic, The Whirlwind is good, didn't like their first album.
They're not exaclty anything spectacular, but they're nice to listen to every now and then.

when hakita was a nice progman he recommended it and i did enjoy it :-)

Now I'm a rude progman

holy shit this is like some Jazz-Fusion metal shit, but listen to that slap bass though. That is the fastest slap bass I have ever heard in my life.

damn youtube quality, but I quite like it.
That's pretty damn nice. Is the rest of their stuff like that?

I have no idea, heard it on Pandora and was lucky enough to find one video with the song in it.
That sounds good, I might look up other stuff of theirs
