I don't understand all those pretentiousness talk. What is pretentious about prog rock? Can someone elaborate?
Pretty much everything tbh but so long as you accept it its ok
This album right here blew my mind when I first found it. I can't find much on the actual band, but the music is really just great.
bam beautiful new music video
Just put aside time to listen to Mountain by Haken and was suprised by the album. I enjoyed it a lot.
Driving to Melbourne to see Steven Wilson on Tuesday. So ridiculously excited
I have a ticket for the melbourne show but no way of getting there so I bought the one for sydney and I'm going to sydney instead
He came to a town near mine awhile ago maybe an hour away, but it was on a Sunday night and I needed to wake up on Monday. Too bad, wanted to see him.

haven't heard larks for months, just started hearing it and it was like i first heard it... the force is strong with prog
HOW THE FUCK HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THESE GUYS BEFORE? Its like if Gentle Giant, Yes, and ELP had a babby together. Fuck me this album is amazing.
Listening to Still Life by Van Der Graaf Generator after a few months of barely listening to them at all and I forgot how much of a great album it is.
haven't listened to Camel in AGES... haven't listened to really true prog in a long time. But I'll always revisit Yes' Close to the Edge.

Just my opinion but Pink Floyd is the best Prog Rock band ever. Agree?
Just my opinion but Pink Floyd is the best Prog Rock band ever. Agree?
Nah, Van Der Graaf Generator is.
they're more popular than they ought to be not to say that they're bad but there are better bands that are much less known
Just my opinion but Pink Floyd is the best Prog Rock band ever. Agree?
No way.
Nah, Van Der Graaf Generator is.
This is more accurate but I still don't know if I agree. H to the He am the only one is such a seminal work and so important to post punk but overall Idk imo the best prog rock is the most english sounding stuff like genesis's early albums and hatfield and the north. Pink Floyd I don't even really count as 'progressive rock' because musically its actually quite simple and allows a lot of room for space and reflection.
hatfield and the north is so rad

Incredible album. Wilson's output just gets better and better. Anyone going to see him on tour? I've got tickets to the Manchester date on Saturday, and if it's half as good as it was in Glasgow 2013 it'll still be amazing.
It's a shame that Guthrie Govan and Marco Minneman won't be appearing on the tour in America. But Steven got probably the next best guitarist to replace Govan. It'll be nice to see Dave Kilminster play non-Floyd/Gilmour stuff after 8 years in Roger's band, as well as his interpretations of Guthrie's solos.
