Skate punk is fun?
"skate punk" is a way too vague description IMO, it could be anything from pop punk to hardcore
yeah, it changes by year but that's pretty much all punk lol

I saw Ed Kuepper up close one time and he played guitar really loud and my face and head and neck came off and went into the bin.
omg i love the saints yes yes yes yes ye esy yesy eyse yesyeseysyesyes
They actually used to live in the (I'm) Stranded house. Brisbane was pretty tough in the 70s.

I wonder if they ever met Pauline Hanson.
im hyper jealous rn
oh yeah greg ginn

youre a fucking asshole
Wondering what you guys think of a few bands, just some of you seem to have interesting opinions on others and I was wondering. Bands in question are:
Cage The Elephant
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0tsm0EhCJM
Dropkick Murphys
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7g3RuoreRc
The Vacines
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_3eEPpmKwE
I'm sorry, these songs/bands are all kind of popular, dont fucking linch me anyway, there the good side of popular...imo. Wondering what you think, Id call them all Punk Bands, and not pop punk, not like "were going to appeal to every one" punk, just like, has a punk message and kind of holds up a standard.
I saw the singer from cage the elephant on a panel show once and he was a straight up tit
no opinions apart from that

Oh really? What was up with him like? Ive never seen him outside of band stuff
cage is definitely not punk, they are more like garage rock in the vein of white stripes etc
dropkick Murphys are a total gimmick band so im not really into them. in that style i much prefer floggin mollys
vacines are just kinda like your standard "garage punk" band but with a bit of extra pop. really not interesting to me.
no hate here as long as you're not obnoxious as a human being (ie being a bitch when I don't like something you post lol)

Oh you meen like this? "wow I think your so wrong only my opinion counts Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood"
Yeh I could do that, or I could apply thought :P
The reason I'd say CTE are punk is just the majority of the lyrics in the first album, like, dam seriously, stuff like "tiny little robots" and "drones in the valley" even the 2nd album reminds me of some of the old school NewYork punk scene. I really dont get why people dont acnollege them as a punk band, because they seem to uphold a lot of vallues that I've allways understood as being associated with punk.
Also dam Flogging Molly are great, everyone I speak too about FM or DKM always relate them to each other in some way.
Im mostly interested in why you dont think CTE are punk though.
almost ten minutes of awesome

their drummer is fucking insane
deep wound LP > 7" imo
but guess who is their drummer? j mascis from dinosaur jr lol.
also if you want crazy drumming fucking listen to the neos. for real. even faster than deep wound.

"punk lyrics" are nice but they do not convey it at all in their attitude. also they are on a major label which is like -1000 punx cred. oh well. they are still, at the very least, musically as punk as the white stripes which is like... not very punk lol
i fucking love the deep wound 7" so much but i haven't heard the LP. didn't think it could get much better than that 7" but now i'm kind of hyped to check the full-length out
the LP is just like the 7" with a few extra songs and then takes of some of the songs from the 7" in a different studio or live. it may as well just be an expanded 7", that's why I prefer it over the 7" lol

Fucking White Stripes XD
aahhh, I'm still not convinced :P I'll stick to my probably wrong opinions, I appreciate them for how they helped change my perception of music (along with like a load of other bands) and thats enough for me :)
i aint sayin they're bad but they really aren't punk, musically, imo

Fair enough.
Actually getting back on topic a bit, ive had a listen to NOFX, although they have that kind of whiny-ish voice that I havent liked since I was like 12 and into shitty emo music (I dont even know if thats a thing??) I'm really liking them so far, Dont Call Me White is p.stand out actually, reminds me of what id call an inversion of-

(God thats actually a fucking brave song) oh and what I'm about to say is now obligatory because people cant fucking listen sometimes ITS NOT RACIST
I know lots of people really dont like NOFX :v: but apparently I like a lot of bands that people dont, honestly I think it just comes down to me concentrating more on the lyrics than anything else, its why i still like some of the new greenday stuff I'm fully aware that there a bunch of twats but I actually like Let Yourself Go, it feels like some sort of fucking guilty pleasure saying that in this thread, fuck :v:

nofx is dumb and "dont call me white" is a dumb racist song for dumb white kids that think they are oppressed. bottom of the barrel shit imo. it's not offensively racist so much as it is just ignorant. their first few records are okay like "maximumrockandroll" but even those arent unique at all. nofx is a huge band though, the amount of people who like them vastly outweight those who don't.
[editline]6th August 2013[/editline]
in terms of "melodic hardcore" of the 90s they are alright (ie better than the TRASH bad religion was shitting out at the time) but it's still not my type of music.

I love the vocals hahaha. the drumming could use some more energy and it could be mixed better and imo the guitar should have more edge but otherwise its very entertaining. two thumbs up
