nah. they are just harder to come by since the genre has aged. it happens with most genres. it becomes more imitation and fitting in with existing/new trends/ideas, thus less originality and spontaneity. on the other hand "punk" is very broad and can apply to many different things outside of the originators of the genre. Anyway, in terms of newer bands that I would call punk (in one way or another) I really like
Tera Melos, Vivian Girls, loads of japanese girl punk bands (Softball, Akiakane, and more creative bands like Skirt No Naka, etc), Deerhoof, birthday suits, in defence, coathangers, 385, nice purse, total trash, miami dolphins, pink mink, torche, bass drum of death, bad banana, etc. anyway most punk bands i like are local (as are many that i listed)
