To some degree. I think I have more common sense and the like in comparison to book smarts, but still.
I'm kinda introverted, so I figure that I know more because I strive for more knowledge. Not really 'intelligent' as in higher brain function, I just use it more.
I get told that I'm smart when I say obvious things to idiots :buddy:
I reckon I'm alright. I think to be a well-roundedly intelligent person you have to be: Artistic Observant Laterally thinking Able to control your emotions Able to use foresight Good at arithmetic Able to think of abstract concepts easily Spatially aware Well read; thirsty for knowledge Good at remembering details short-term & general ideas long-term Able to react quickly to things Good with people/communicating your ideas Good with language comprehension Intuitive. Ergo, a lot more qualitative things than IQ tests quantify make up a person's intelligence. You don't need to be book-smart to be a shrewd and cunning Army general, for example. You don't need to be well-spoken to be a... uh... race-driver? My examples are shite.
I wouldn't consider myself 'a smart guy'. People think I'm intelligent for doing well in exams but really all exams test is your ability to spew facts onto paper without any real understanding.

Higher level exams (A levels and above) test your abilities to 'synthesize and marshall' the facts you get given: to compare data & come up with your own conclusions, and to include all your own background reading on the subjects ('synopticity').
I'm a fast learner and comprehension isn't really a problem, but i wouldn't say I'm smarter than any other guy on the street.
yes really smart
I don't think I'm that smart, but I have a good memory for facts and formulas, which makes people think I'm smart. People think I'm good at maths because I usually get among the highest results in the class, if not the highest, but I'm just good at remembering the formulas and putting the numbers into them, if we're doing a question in class, I'll usually be the last person to get it. On the other hand, I fly through subjects like history and geography which is mostly remembering things, and I'm interested in them.

In-fact in a recent AQA Biology exam uproar was raised when it consisted more of 'How Science Works' than regurgitation of facts. In my opinion exams in themselves do not encourage students to question the subject but just learn it parrot fashion. Edit: I can also say with conviction that there have been no questions in any exam that require backround reading of your own.
I smert :downs:
Depends on your definition of smart. I tend to retain a lot of information and know random bits of knowledge. By standard measure of IQ, I would be potentially a genius as was my grandfather. I don't put faith in that sort of thing, the next fellow could be just as much of a genius as I am and not be recognized for it by our scale. I would be more "smart" in philosophical terms. That's more of my area.
Others say i am, so yeah i guess i am. :buddy:
Compared to my friends? Oh god yes. But in the world I'm probably just average. Maybe a bit on the smart side.
I am the only one smart enough to realise this is a "post yours"? Or at least, one of the few?
Defiantly not "the" smartest person in my school... But I'm smart enough.
I am the only one smart enough to realise this is a "post yours"?
No, most people just don't care.
I would count me as a smart guy, not in things like maths and stuff like that but more history, basic science and stuff around electricity.
