Hey FP, would you care to help my speed metal band?

I thought speed metal was dead. Guess I was wrong on that part.
I'm not a huge fan of metal, but damn you guys are great!
Sounds like you like some Black Sabbath as well.
I'm actually pretty surprised, i expected complete and utter shit at first but it's actually... good? Sadly i can't offer you any money, but i can offer you encouragement, you sound great so far.
we wanna evolve our sound like say, megadeth.
I hope you mean old megadeth, or are you all overly paranoid, religious nutjobs that believe in new world order conspiracies.
I remember listening to the stuff before, the mixing was off, but those were demos. when I get paid, I'll definitely grab this, cause you had good stuff on the demos.

I'll give a track by track opinion:
Running Away:
Not bad at all, first impressions are good, and that's what counts. The main riff is somewhat boring to me and I'm not fond of the sound. Maybe shift it up an octave? Maybe you've tried that and didn't like it. The dual solo is good, reminiscent of Iron Maiden. Not too complex, but not too simple.
The Viper:
Nice bass intro. Not done too often, and it's hard to get right. First thought coming to the singing was The Four Horsemen and Mechanix. A good riff, slightly more complex bass underlying the simpler main riff. The break in the middle is good, fits well. Second break to the sped up part is good, I remember hearing similar in other songs, can't remember what ones though. Solo is alright, reminds me of Kirk Hammett.
Thrashing Beast Of Metal:
Not fond of that intro. Just seems kinda like "what is this". Good fast and aggressive. I like the backing vocals coming in for "beast of metal" rather than the vocalist doing it all. Maybe rather than a snare roll, add in crashes instead on the chorus. Liking the roaring before the solo. This is a damn good solo as well, sounds fantastic.
Moshpit:
Intro is alright, could be a bit tighter, maybe trimmed down slightly as well. Good pace, perfect kind of speed. Double kicking is nice. Might want to get that main riff a little tighter, I can hear it kind of slip a little when ascending the neck. I find the solo in kind of a Scott Ian style, which is nice. Overall I'm getting an Anthrax/Manowar vibe from this one, not bad at all.
Battle Master:
Really reminded of the 80s speed and thrash in the intro, can't nail it specifically who to, but it's there. The bass being really audible in the chorus is nice, I like to hear bass and it really makes a change to actually hear it. Maybe keep the chorus to just "master" on the backing, it doesn't really fit in my opinion.
Overall it's a good few songs and a solid EP. I like it. The mixing is off again, I find the whole thing a little muddy, and the drums are a little high in the mix and the vocals don't have enough bite to them, but it is an EP and it's not meant to be proper album quality. It's good though and I'll definitely grab a copy.
Hello. I play in a thrash metal band myself - you fucking teach those cunts in the crowd who is boss.
Check us out; http://www.facebook.com/pages/Impalers/61205462500?sk=app_2405167945
We're have 2 EP's out and we're in the middle of preproduction of the album, Power behind the throne.
We have sold around 200 since 2007 (as far as I know). We have made a name for ourselves - that is the most important thing in my opinion.

oh and by the way
SUCCUMB TO THE WILL OF THE AGRESSOR
Oh you're brazilian! Sorry, I thought you didn't know how to spell it. Freehat is correct, I meant bass guitar. It's pretty common for people who don't know about music to misspell it "base guitar" in English, that's all.
Really though, have you heard Iron Maiden
Also I assume you're familiar with Hit The Lights, and believe me anyone who's into that kind of music will notice how eerily similar that Beast song is. Not saying you ripped it off, it just really sounds like you did. Influences shouldn't be perceived really heavily in subsequent bands' music, or they probably don't have anything to bring to the table themselves. I get that you're going for a straight-up flavour, but from the impression I've got listening to the EP you need to distance yourself from these huge old groups. The reason you don't see a lot of similar bands is because they get lost in the slipstream of those giants from a school of thought and sound that's over twenty years old. Pull out every trick you have and don't label yourself and try to fit into that box, cause chances are you won't get places if you do.
iron maiden and megadeth are my favorite bands dude. i know them really well, well enough to say our songs don't sound anything like iron maiden even off the killers album, iron maiden on killers has always been more punk, and after killers a lot more melodic. we're a bit more thrashy than them.
of course we're not gonna stay old school foverer, man. it's just that there aren't ANY good bands that have oldschool, catchy songs here in brazil, nowadays you get way too many hardcore bands around here, so we figured it'd be a great way to start.
thanks for the crits anyway, it's awesome to see you care about us and think we have potential!
lots of criticism
thanks a lot for buying it! great read too, also we're trying a completely new intro for thrashing beast of metal. that intro was really poorly made.
oh and don't worry, hopefully we shouldn't end up killing songs like megadeth did by putting our own political views on them and making them sound like a cnn article (at least that's what a few megadeth songs sound like nowadays :v:), i was talking about how it evolved from KIMB to Youthanasia.
[editline]26th October 2011[/editline]
it's just great to see you guys are giving us criticism and for the most part, positive feedback. thanks a lot guys!

yeah, i've always loved them because my brothers showed me black sabbath when i was 8 years old :v:. i still listen to it nowadays, so i probably ended up putting a little bit of it on our songs when i was writing our songs!
Pretty good music. I'd buy it if I could.

kinky, but no
please stop shitting on the thread.
I hate all forms of metal with the burning passion of a thousand suns, but this is pretty good. "Running Away" sounds really nice.
Definitely will buy the album when I next get paid.
[editline]27th October 2011[/editline]
stop trying to convert me to metallism
[editline]27th October 2011[/editline]
oh god it's working
First impressions, well I'm intrigued by it. I'm not really feeling the whole speed metal vibe at all, but it's got all the ingredients of some good old fashioned thrash metal to it and your influeces are very distinct. Moshpit has something very old age Iron Maiden about it and I quite enjoy that. I really don't like the vocals though, you need a singer with a more powerful style I think.
I'm going to buy the album to help you along, but something worth thinking about. I asked one of my housemates who wandered in what he thought (he's not into metal) he said "It sounds just like everything else you listen to" and I guess he's right, there's nothing groundbreaking or ear catching about your music just yet.
Not bad not bad.

[editline]22nd December 2011[/editline]
we're also trying to get into metal open air, a festival like wacken. if we do get in, we're gonna play to 70,000 people, and boy am i gonna get a boner on that concert.
woo go mentr
getting into Wacken would be mega for you guys. make sure you press enough CDs to sell at the merch booths :v:
it's good to hear that you're doing well. music is a tough business, but once you're known and have made it to a label, you're good to go for a long time. here's hoping that we'll see you on Nuclear Blast, or even EMI :v:
[editline]24th December 2011[/editline]
tell me if you ever play in Scotland, my band can open :v:
Kill Em All-era Metallica. That's what you guys remind me of.
Been trying to put my thumb on it for a while now. As soon as I listened to the vocals on the new track though, I was finally able to nail it down.
Great as always, MenteR. :D.
thanks for the support guys!
Wow, you guys are actually really good. I didn't expect much, but I came back pleasantly surprised.
by the way, we have a monkey as a mascot for when we play thrashing beast of metal. he jumps and moshs with the crowd!

Great!
This is actually pretty awesome. I can definitely imagine skating to Running Away.
Sounds like it could have easily been on the sound track to Brutal Legend, I'm enjoying this.
Woah. That's decent quality.

hey, we got through the 1st phase of the contest! HOORAY!
now we shall rock our way to the finals! we won by crowd vote and jury vote! a big thanks to EVERYONE who has been supporting us! wish us luck!
I'm huge thrash metal fan as I'm in my own thrash metal band, you guys sound like you can play but your music doesn't sound very unique it sounds just like Metallica's first few albums-Thrashing Beast Of Metal sound very similar to Hit the Lights, well the main riff anyway. Wish you guys the best of luck!
