• Car collision on snowy day in downtown Montreal.

Living in New Hampshire and having our first real snowfall just yesterday, I can totally vouch for the fact that it don't matter where you live, people are going to be BRAINDEAD at first snowfall
I am near there in Vermont, my commute with no snow tires was hell
Your buses don't have universal tires?
Your buses don't have universal tires?
All-season tyres won't be as good in snow as snow tyres.
I felt more immediate concern for the snow plow driver. You know you're headed for a police cruiser when you lost control of your vehicle and figure you're probably going to get fucked for colliding with a policeman. Dude must have been shitting everywhere.
This isn't gta, you're not going to get arrested because you hit a police car.
All-season tyres won't be as good in snow as snow tyres.
All-season tires are all I've ever had and I've done just fine in a FWD econobox in Northern Michigan winters.
Canadian roads are always extra hazardous at the very beginning of winter. It's like every year road idiots forget how to drive in snow. This in my opinion is no excuse. Even with winter tires on that bus was going too fast to come to a stop so soon. It's too easy to get your license here. Just wanted to add, another huge part of the problem in Canadian driving is the downright terrible response time for salting the roads. The pileup would have been avoided completely had the city headed forecasting advice and salted the roads.
It's like preventive measures for snowy & slush-ice-like conditions like this is unheard of.
All-season tyres won't be as good in snow as snow tyres.
Jack of all trades and master of none. Don't buy all-seasons if expecting actual snow & ice.
I find it ironic that the snow plow was not outfitted with snow tires. Like why doesn't it just have them on for all of winter season?
I find it ironic that the snow plow was not outfitted with snow tires. I'm pretty sure only something like studs or chains could have had any traction at all and those are illegal I'm fairly certain.
If this happens to you, steer INTO the curb, it'll slow you down by a lot, and if it's that slippery and your wheels are locked/ABSing, you won't drive up it, it'll just slow you down or even stop you. Much better than trying to steer away and missing out on the last bits of friction you can get from the curb. Obviously it's better to avoid locking your wheels at all, and engine brake by switching to a low gear to retain some control.

After all, then the choice is between banged-up steelies, or a fender bender.
I find it ironic something as vital during snowstorms & blizzards such as snow-plows aren't exempted from that rule, same with emergency services vehicles and maybe even public transportation..
The roads would get obliterated much faster than they already are. In any case, we usually use these bad boys during heavy nowfall: Those things have a ridiculous amount of torque and traction.
Meanwhile humidity where I live is 95 percent. Goddamn, I would kill to be in that snow.
All-season tires are all I've ever had and I've done just fine in a FWD econobox in Northern Michigan winters.
I don't doubt that you've done "just fine" at all. That's not what I'm saying. I have driven our manual FWD '09 Mitsubishi Lancer 1.5 with passengers on an icy and snowy mountain road (Serra da Estrela) during a blizzard on all-seasons with no issue, but I would've had more grip and therefore would be able to start, stop, and turn faster if I had snow tyres on, that's just a fact.
Meanwhile humidity where I live is 95 percent. Goddamn, I would kill to be in that snow.
You say that but have you ever had to wade through the snow equivalent of a no man's land during WWI.
You say that but have you ever had to wade through the snow equivalent of a no man's land during WWI.
Yes, when I used to live up north. In the big picture, I would rather freeze as opposed to melt.
I don't think any type legal snow tires would have helped in this case. The weather dances around the freezing point of water during this time. Perhaps a warm atmosphere dropped rain on cold ground, or snow fell on warm ground, or the sun melted some snow on the ground: whenever you have wet ground with freezing temperatures, you get icy roads. This is the main reason salt and sand is used: salt to melt ice or sand to provide grip.
Please stay safe out on the snowy roads this winter, fellow Canucks.
Yes, when I used to live up north. In the big picture, I would rather freeze as opposed to melt.
I'll always prefer the cold. When it's too cold, you add another layer and now you're comfy again. When it's too hot and you're already wearing a white, loose, cool as fuck t-shirt, going shirtless isn't gonna do much and even if you do you can't go any further than that so you just gotta sit there and take it.
Yes, when I used to live up north. In the big picture, I would rather freeze as opposed to melt.
Same here. I've lived in humid, dry, hot, and cold climates. I'm sticking with dry and cold.
Meanwhile its still spring here its becoming worrying where's the snow
Yeah it snowed in Vancouver too and my Mom cracked her head after slipping on some black ice this morning. She's fine, just a few stitches.
Yes, when I used to live up north. In the big picture, I would rather freeze as opposed to melt.
Just checking. If you aren't used to having any kind of snow it can be a pretty big shock the first time you open the door with a meter of snow on your front porch.
I played a lot of crash mode, and I don't remember it looking so bad. Man time is flying
It doesn't looks that bad. I played it just a few months ago on PS2 and it didn't look anywhere near that bad.
This calls for the Quebec National Anthem
I'm glad this was made.
If we have another, I'll probably go out and film the snow days we get in northwest Arkansas. Our city is hilariously underprepared for ice.
That was fucking comical. Reminded me of this:

The green truck falling and later is just photoshop.
Why would you get fucked by police?? The driver couldn't have done anything.
I'm saying the thoughts that must be running through the dude's head because he's not necessarily aware that a bunch of people already lost control of their vehicles and yet he's still heading towards an accident with a cop. Didn't say it was going to be what happens, just said what an average person would probably be thinking.
