I've been trying to find out what Operator means..no luck.
Can someone explain it to me?

It doesn't really mean anything. It comes from Special Operations. Some people called those who participated in them special operators, and it came to mean "tacticool dudes" but it's not really used inside the military, afaik, mostly by airsofters and the like.
Simply put, anyone in all black tacticool gear.

The only thing about USPs I like, as far as ergonomics goes, is the safety. I hate the mag release on them with a passion.
I don't feel like wearing full camouflage or anything. What's something that's fairly cheap while still letting me move around easily and protecting vulnerable areas on my body?

OE Tech Mod Vest. It only covers your chest and doesn't inhibit movement whatsoever IMO. Even kneeling.
I love the vest. It's my workhorse. It could use a bit more MOLLE space but I can economize on it and in the end it keeps me from weighing myself down with crap I don't need. I have Interceptors, CIRAS, Chest-Rigs, Crossdraw vests and Crossdraw MOLLE and that's probably the best vest out of the pack.

Sorry, I meant mag release. It's like that on all USPs, and it's something I hated about them since I first used one, even before I real that. The HK45 isn't any better

It's a hell of a lot better than Amazon for this kinda thing.
You can get pretty good deals on Amazon with gear, not guns.
For example, I got my Interceptor vest, by Condor, for $60, as opposed to $90+, and my Level II Hydration Pack, also Condor, for $20, as opposed to $30 or $40. You really just gotta shop around.
