Also, what is an optimum FPS for less than 15/25 (depending on field) foot engagements? Is 300-330 okay? I was hoping for 280 but it seems few pistols are actually 280.

Iron sights are good enough. You can try to find a rail that mounts to the bottom of the handguard and put a vertical grip on there if you want.

don't get anything with it unless you deem necessary.
If you use a full face mask (some fields require it), get a riser or something with a built in riser on it, like an ACOG or something.

Red dot sight works fine, if you plane on getting a scope with +4 magnification expect to upgrade your gun
in other words, prepare to pay up another $100+ for a decent upgrade for you 1337 h4xx0r sn1p3r r1fl3
anyways, better for an AEG because this is what I expect if you become a sniper:
