I'd suggest a tri shot shotgun, from DE or whoever makes it.
I second this. I have a UTG tri-shot and it is one of my favorite guns. Cheap and effective.
So my friend at Uni wants me to get into airsoft. At Portsmouth the nearest place they go to is a wooded area but they also do a lot in these old WW2 bunkers, 4km of tunnels or some shit. They set it up to be really atmospheric and creepy. But anyway, as a beginner where should I start off with? I don't want to waste my money on something crappy that breaks itself after a few days of use but I can't spend a fuckload either because I'm getting a new DSLR and lenses.
Well, typically people start off with a lower level AEG which will run you about ~$100.
A mask (or brassguard+goggles) will run you about $25, so you shouldn't be spending more than $150 on a starter kit.
Is that number alright for you?
If you think you'll like airsoft, this subforum usually recommends the Combat Machine line. They're really good and are pretty damn cheap for their quality.
The Combat Machine M4's are $140 though, so you'll be spender closer to $180 including mask, BB's, etc.
Uh, I'd have to see what that would be in the UK, but about £200 seems pretty reasonable.

Is there much different between electric and gas? (Bare with me if I'm asking really obvious questions!)

I'm extremely unfamiliar with the UK Airsoft laws for they're strange and convoluted.
If you'd kindly refer to the sticky on the front page of the Airsoft subforum, it should say where you can get Airsoft equipment in the UK specifically.
No, that's not the problem. The exchange rate is. :v:
My friend has a good mate that gets him his guns without having to go through that UKARA stuff.

Again, don't know UK gun laws. I can't help you.

I'm not asking for help in that regard?
I've heard a lot of good things about Revision Desert Locusts, but that's if you want to spend $60~ on a pair of goggles.
If not, Arena Flakjacks are good. I'd personally say don't get a paintball mask, they get in the way of aiming. The G&G Combat Machine line is good for M4s, or if you don't want an AR style gun, the Dboys AK series is full metal and they have real wood too. Those are a little more expensive though. Also thanks for actually using the questions thread.

I'd probably be more comfortable with getting a metal gun to plastic to be honest, even if it is more expensive I'd prefer the durability.
The Combat Machine is made of a polymer, and the DBoys/Kalash AKs are usually made of steel and wood, I like the RK-03 a lot

If I get an AK, its either the AKS74 or AK74.

:gizz:
I really should have picked one of those up when I still had the chance to buy guns from the States with my friends.
lol suckerr
Is there anything else you guys would recommend as an alternative to the AK? I mean, the folding stock looks like it'd be pretty useful to have if I'm moving from woodlands to those bunkers.
lol suckerr
It's my fault though for waiting too long to see when the G&G F2000 or RK95 would be for sale on Airsoft GI. Now by the time they actually have both of those guns all my friends quit airsoft.
There's the ICS MP5 series. Also the Dboys SCAR, but the body on it is pot metal which sucks. The Combat Machine polymer is really durable, ASGI dropped it from 9 feet up and nothing happened to it.

You mean this?

Dboys aks are sexy. I have one.
You're sexy. :v:
I hadn't seen that AK before, it seems the best I've seen so far.
Yeah, that's the video. What's your budget? We can help you a lot more if we know how much you're willing to spend.
I won't fully know until I've bought my DSLR to be honest, which will be about £700 for the body and then around £500-600 for a lens/lenses.
But after that, possibly around £300-400 for the weapon and gear. That AK is actually kind of growing on me, would look pretty rad with pantera camo.
adding that to list of camos i must have
http://miwomilitary.pl/ sell it for $120 for a jacket and trousers, but I don't know if they ship internationally. Also the base colour seems to be a bit off, it looks yellow in their images but if you look in the image I linked its more green than that.

These guys have a better looking version, and it's about $12 cheaper.

The second site has M05 and a vest just like the Finnish army has. All I need now is to be able to get the RK95 in Canada and I can make a Finnish loadout.
