The CYMA has wooden handguards.
The Dboys on ASGI has plastic handguards.

That one.
"Features:
Metal Side Folding Stock
Metal Receiver and Barrel Assembly
Imitation wood furniture
Front and Rear Sling Attachment Points"
Plastic really isnt a big deal. Infact, plastic can be better than the metal found in some of the guns at this price range.
Also, Nifae, dont expect metal handguards unless its a RIS/RAS.
Ignore that imitation wood thing. I bought that exact model and it is REAL wood. I even stained it.
Read the reviews, most will say something about how the real wood is nice
So the Echo1 RPK is upon us!....and it costs almost as much as the SRC anyway.
I guess it has blowback and it has a hicap but I'd just rather get the SRC.

Woah woah woah what, where?
Woah woah woah what, where?
Airsoftgi just got it in a minute ago.
No Echo-1 is worth that much, sorry.
But Ares has a Full-Metal M4 for $230 in Dark Earth!
Half of me wants to get the echo 1 one, and the other half wants to wait for cyma's
Alright, so I know absolutely nothing about airsoft, but I'm interested in making a short film and I figure that a realistic-looking blowback airsoft would do the trick as a good prop.
Now, what I want to know, is what's the main difference between electric and gas blow back? Which is cheaper, do they both more or less look the same?
Cause I'm looking at some of these higher-quality gas blowback AKs and they're more expensive than the actual real AKs.
Get a realistic looking but cheaper gun and you can do the recoil yourself by imitating the gun having blowback. It might save you money so you don't have to buy an expensive airsoft gun that you are going to use maybe once or twice.
Electric is much less expensive than gas blow back, at least for a gas rifle, and they look the same usually. Gas pistols however, can be about $100-150
Airsoft guns' internals, at least electric ones, are more complicated than real guns. If you're just making a short film, you're not going to want a gas blow back. The cheapest you would probably want to go is $100 unless it's a very minor prop in the background, or multiple props, which in that case you could go for a cheap $30 springer, where it won't matter too much if it's not detailed and/or shiny-ish (like, a semi-gloss coat).
GBB's are too much if you just want a moving bolt and decent sound. Better off [learning about] using after effects or something of the sort and editing in gunshots (which I'd assume you'd do anyway.)

GBBR AK's are not very common unfortunately. GHK makes one but they are iffy from what I know. If you used a M4 or a SCAR, you would have more readily available guns though.
Alright, thanks guys. So I guess I'll go for an electric then.
I want a sniper rifle that isn't an Arctic Warfare/Dragunov/M24 knockoff. Any suggestions?

Also, are there any night vision scope lookalikes that just function as a normal scope? I like the look.

Save up buy a Ares WA2000, Ares PGM, Ares Intervention, Socom Gear Barret, Ares DSR-1 the guns listed are probably a hefty price there isn't many people that make a non mainstream gun.

Tanaka M700

All those guns are like, $900+, and that Ares M200 is like $1,750. I'm not sure if you want to spend that much.
There's always the M99 Barrett.
Someone, somewhere posted a picture of it.
Here's a link, sorry, it's AirSplat. Is it me, or has their website presentation gone to the shitter?

I posted it awhile ago from EhobbyAsia.

Even though it's probably crap, I want it just to have an M99. I mean seriously, who has one of those things?
I've seen one. And it's made by JG, so there is a decent quality to it.
But as for practical use, no one brings an M99 to a skirmish. No use running with a hefty sniper rifle when everyone else has automatics.

The problem with all of those are the price tags, and the weights. I want to carry a sniper on my back, along with my M4, so I can take someone out at long range if need be. Maybe a NATO equivalent to the VSS?

Build/buy a DMR? If you want to stick with NATO stuff, get an M14 or a SR-25 or someshit.

Get an SPR. It can take any M16 mags and it has a standard V2 gearbox so upgrades are easy to come by. In fact, my first gun was a A&K SPR.

Don't carry 2 rifles, especially a M4 and a DMR. You're just going to hurt yourself and get tangled in slings. Take my advice, I usually run DMR's now and the most I will ever carry along with me is a MP7 and perhaps a pistol mounted to the side of my vest. Even then the MP7 on a single point sling can get in the way. Just carry a SR25, M14, SPR, or some other longer barreled battle/marksman rifle along with a smaller sidearm.
Ender's "solution" is the most practical. If you insist on carrying two rifles, then carry an AKS-74U or maybe an MP5, with the stock folded/retracted. I would personally go for a DM or sniper rifle, and a MAC-11 or Glock. Having a fullauto would be handy in a pinch.
Even though it's probably crap, I want it just to have an M99. I mean seriously, who has one of those things?
My friend has one and the build quality really s good. But like Identity said, it isn't practical.
The thing weighs a fuckton relative to regular airsoft guns and it's hard to fire accurately without support. The bolt pull is also very unergonomic if you want to keep your eye down the scope when you reload.

I'm thinking about an SR25. I could even convert my M4 into one, if I bought a longer barrel, rails, etc.

An SR-25 shoots a bigger bullet. You would pretty much need a new gun.
An SR-25 shoots a bigger bullet. You would pretty much need a new gun.
What? I'm fairly sure I could turn my M4 into a SPR without necessitating a change in BB size.
What? I'm fairly sure I could turn my M4 into a SPR without necessitating a change in BB size.
There's a difference in the magazine sizes IRL (7.62x51mm of the SR-25 v. 5.56x45mm of the M4), and therefore you need a different receiver.
A&K makes a pretty decent SR 25. Ive had mine for a year, completely stock aside from the hop up nub. I think Ill get a tightbore for it, also.
What? I'm fairly sure I could turn my M4 into a SPR without necessitating a change in BB size.
Meaning you will need:
-SR25 upper and lower receiver
-SR25 Gearbox (elongated Ver.2 Gearbox)
-SR25 7.62 Magazines (much larger than M4 mags)
