My school went full retard ever since the Sandy Hook shooting

It still weirds me out that schools in America have "security measures".
We didn't have a single security guard or alarmed door here, it was basically just open 24/7.
In Australia none of this happens, we just have the usual fire drill and lockdown drill and very few schools have security guards and that's only for the ones in the shitty areas and even then, very few.
meanwhile my school (university) thinks it's a good idea to force everyone out of the dorms for a few minutes for a fire drill with snow on the ground
with an unlucky few who were showering at the time

Gunz errywhere dog
They dont even have to be guns owned or stolen from family members like Adam Lanza
There are plenty of retards capable of being convinced into buying them for you like what happened with Harris and Klebold
We're a country of angry people
My school locked down because an old guy walked past the school with a cane, but that was it. :v:
I don't go to school anymore, but when I was in high school we had a police officer. A resource officer, I believe it was called. I think she once managed to catch one of the students selling drugs in the parking lot. Still, we didn't have any real insane security measures and I didn't find it really all that strange to have a police in the school.
My school's taken no security precautions except for locking all of the gates, except for the front one, before and after school (we're a closed campus).
There's been no real changes to security policy besides that, or actual hardware, just locking the gates and making it a real pain in the ass to leave or enter.
I'm not even really sure what locking the gates is supposed to do besides lock the students in the school, in case of fire.
Your school sounds nice, a hell of a lot nicer than mine. Our school went full retard long before this shooting even occurred. Doesn't help that i think the school council is corrupt as shit, as it seems their only focus is money, and the superintendent gets a six figure salary, and has been the same person for 20 fucking years. Ever since i've been going to school, it's been the same superintendent, and the school clamps down harder and harder, with more restrictions, being open campus is impossible, even though there's nowhere that people could go for a decent, non-fastfood meal in 25 minutes. Ever since the shooting though, the doors are locked at all times, except when school starts and ends, and the front door is locked, with someone waiting to open it for kid's parents. I guess a shooting is a real possibility in our school, but, the craziest thing i've heard of in my town though, is that more than one person has removed their dicks with garden shears in the last 10 years.
Almost forgot, for the last who knows how long, we have a 30 minute period for breakfast in the morning, a 4 minute rush period between classes, a 25 minute lunch break, with it being one grade at a time throughout the day, and zero breaks of any kind. Since the shooting, no clue how it would change after the shooting, since i haven't actually been inside the school since years before the shooting, just that every thing i know currently is from asking teachers out of school.

My fucking highschool put alarms on every door besides the main entrance that trigger when you open them from both the inside and outside. Anybody caught using these doors could face suspension. This is not an exaggeration at all. Unfortunately I'm being completely 100% serious.

How do you get into your classrooms etc. then :v:?

You can never leave!
My school clamped down on security a bit, if the security guards or one of the dick math teachers see you exiting through the side doors in the front building they'll...
do something just send you back in I guess. It's not a big deal since most security guards aren't asses though. The big problem is that you can't go into the parking lot and grab something from your car without an escort because WHO KNOWS YOU MIGHT GET A GUN HALFWAY THROUGH SCHOOL OH NO. I know this is all the admin's idea though so I can't fault the security for doing their jobs, as I said most of them are nice guys.
Anyways heres my point: my friends brother has a sword class, I don't know what kind but he brings his sword in a bag to school on I forget what days. He brings his sword in a gun bag. He just walks right through the front gate holding his gun bag, he walks to his last classroom and drops it there so he can get it on his last period. It's fucking infuriating that the admin's are trying to make the school 'safer' from shootings but you could just walk right in the front door with something that's blatantly a rifle bag. And he did this right after sandy hook, the first day he had his class after the school he had his bag and he walked in the front gate unhampered. Fucking admins man
Last semester I attended Media School which was a 1 semester program. During filming, we ran around the schools with firearms and nobody gave 2 fucks about us. 1 of us even cut a person's arm off in the middle of the hall during class time and squibbed the arm having blood (really good looking blood) spray over the lockers and floor. The best part is that the camera was inside the locker so it didn't look like a movie set.
Never go full retard.
But nothing has changed up here in Canada, I can still walk to my car, grab a textbook/whatever, walk right back to class. I just don't see how any of those measures do anything other than waste students time.
Reading all this makes me glad I'm out of high school. It also makes me glad I wasn't old enough to be in high school when Columbine happened.
Recently, since the Connecticut school shooting, my highschool has become more and more retarded with security. At first, it wasn't so bad, we only needed to use our school id's to unlock the doors, but now they've gone off the deep end.

We have an open-campus policy, yet this fucking retarded shit happens. We live in the most crime-free area where everyone is rich and has huge beautiful houses where theres only like 20 stoners in a school full of 1000 kids. Our football team never wins because everybody is so small and weak. We already have a retarded "anti-bullying" policy that gives overly harsh punishments for insulting someone.
I've officially given up on my town. We are the roots of the pussification of america. The kids here are so sheltered it's not even funny.
My school did this too, but the doors don't have alarms. We just have cameras all over the place. Keep in mind that this is a small rural school of about 500 students.
Ah yes, the "pussification" of America as the OP so eloquently put it. Where there exists emergency exits and building security. You know, like most major public locations.
What a horrible life Face Melter must live.
when will you stop posting to intentionally cause arguments and shit up threads? literally EVERY "contribution" you make to facepunch is some form of shitstirring or another. you intentionally chafe the public opinion to aggravate and inflame people.
My school was pretty chill about the whole thing. The principal just did a little speech over the intercom about supporting others in times of need, and we're no longer allowed to cut through courtyards to get to classes quicker. V:v:V
My school was somewhat alarm (yet somewhat calm) about the sandy hook shooting and we had a moment of silence for 26 seconds after we said our pledge of allegiance.

Take your personal argument somewhere else.

i could say the fucking same to you too love.
Somewhat unrelated, but am I the only one that finds the concept of school lockdowns really dumb?
The armed gunman runs into the school and sees nobody, "OH, WELP, I GUESS THEY ALL JUST UP AND LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL DAY."
Gladly my school just added an extra resource officer
I was watching a guest speaker give a lecture on the JFK assassination (his name was Dr. Pete) and the other teacher left class, and came back with the same type of rifle used to kill JFK. He stood in the back of the room and cocked it to get everyone's attention, scared me shitless. The hammer was removed, it was only trigger and bolt mechanism.
So yeah, my school hasn't really given a fuck.
texas??
Why does anyone prepare for emergencies at all? Emergencies are, by definition, outside the norm.
I don't even know how you managed to post this, did you think about it for one second?
If a school suddenly bursts into flames (presumably, this is counted as outside the norm) there has to be some kind of procedure in place, when I was in school there was a meeting area where all the years would line up, if we didn't have this, then everybody would panic and start piling over each other to get away from the fire, there would be chaos, and if a child goes missing who knows if he's burned in the fire or just ran home.

Well its either that or run around in a panic, which do you think is best?

They both produce the same thing in the end, and if I'd said "satire doesn't work in text" I'd be lying
