My school went full retard ever since the Sandy Hook shooting

Another update on my door shit,
the school went cheap. You can turn off the alarm manually by just moving a switch to the off position on the alarm.
If anyone wanted to get into a school, alarming the doors is going to do nothing. They will get in and they will fill kids with holes regardless of if a klaxon goes off. It's going to happen, nothing can be done about it.

The alarm isn't to ward off the shooter, it's to warn everyone else.
If it goes off, of course the shooter ain't gonna give a shit, but the potential victims are going to hear it and try and stop themselves from dying.
Won't be long until this shit happens to my school, I just know it.

Most security measures are mainly there to make you and especially the parents feel safe.
My school didn't do anything in all of this hysteria. The closest thing they've done to making a security measure is postponing a dance because some dumbass joked about shooting up the place on Facebook.

Mr Bones wild classroom adventure
I remember one time at my old school something happened and the police were called. The police said they had to wait until a vehicle was available so they could get there but the funny thing is the station is a 30 second walk away from the school.

I think there are some regulations for them to bring the car when called, I remember my cousin-in-law telling an equally weird anecdote(he's police officer)
I got to a university in Fairfield, Connecticut, which is in the county where the shooting occurred.
Nothing's changed at all.
I never had police in high school, shit never went down.
We're sane here in Australia.
security is gay live on the edge~
I'm in a school in a fairly wealthy part of the country side in the UK. No guns and crazy security here, just loads of marijuana and CCTV
We just have 2 "security guards" that sit at the main entrances and exits at lunch. I believe that's the only thing that has changed.
There was a shooting at my school a few years back and as far as I'm aware nothing really changed.
A security guard once told off a friend of mine for playing Bulletstorm on his laptop, so I guess there's that.
Im lucky. My highschool had absolutely no response at all to sandy hook. No announcement about it, no extra security guard, nothing.

Same here, except they made an extra announcement about you cannot let students in, they have to go through the main entrance and office.
Nobody payed it any mind though.
you'd have to be pretty shit to get stopped by security before a murder rampage. It isn't gta, people are gonna look at you funny when you pass them with an assault rifle.
hide that shit in your bag.
Less doom, more splinter cell
or open fire as soon as you see a human that's not you
In Australia none of this happens, we just have the usual fire drill and lockdown drill and very few schools have security guards and that's only for the ones in the shitty areas and even then, very few.
Around some train stations (mainly the really shitty public schools that are close to the train station) there is police officers with sniffing dogs because they fear of random fights or potential drug activity, police are armed but then again so is ever officer in Australia
Somewhat unrelated, but am I the only one that finds the concept of school lockdowns really dumb?
The armed gunman runs into the school and sees nobody, "OH, WELP, I GUESS THEY ALL JUST UP AND LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL DAY."
The reason they do it is to limit casualties. If the students are out of sight and behind a locked door, it takes more time to get in through the door. Also, most often it requires them to shoot the lock, which alerts law enforcement where the shooters are, so it's not to keep everyone safe, but slow them down and prevent them from killing so many. The lockdown plan essentially decides that a few unlucky classrooms will be breached, but in theory it'll slow them down and advertise their location.
I am not for/nor against this philosophy or procedure. Just saying why they lockdown
My school is mostly stoners, it's close to the chicago area, and someone just got expelled for punching a cop in the face + 3rd drug offense. The most my school did was post an extra cop in the school for a total of two (2) cops.
[editline]21st February 2013[/editline]
Oh wait, they did a code-red lockdown drill and fired blanks.

Firing blanks indoors sounds like a recepy for a disaster.
My school has... none of this. Doors are always open, (except students aren't allowed to use the main one, it's some tradition) we get an hours break for lunch and 35 for recess, can walk in the halls freely, and leave when we like, as long as we're back before the end of lunch. There aren't any metal detectors, cops, or any of that shit, and I've not been shot by a classmate yet.
Our school had one of those roll down cage type fences installed over the entrances to the east and west wings. They're controlled via switches in the main office. This would be awesome if a) the main office existed inside the caged in area instead of being right in the main lobby where everyone can walk in and b) if there WEREN'T two stairways directly to both wings' second floor by the gym.
My school has shit like this. Along with 3 armed security officers, post columbine structural designed (spread out rooms in maze like path), and other pointless security stuff. Being that we are right next to Newtown, it just seems so pointless on how they go over the edge with this stuff.
The doors are open until 7:20, then you need to be buzzed in, we also have security cameras. It's not as bad as what else I'm seeing around, but still. Though this was all back in September.
Our school's outdoor policy is essentially this:
'Young students from pre-school to 6th grade are not allowed outside the building without the rest of the class present, and 7th and 8th graders are required to have an adult with them. High-schoolers are allowed off-campus with the consent of a teacher'
Our shooter policy is:
'Find a door. If it's chained shut, break it.' (most our doors are glass/clear)
Just imagine cops standing around every class room...
Do do do do do- hey you can-
Are you Adam Lanza?
No I'm Ada-
Holy SHIT Get on the GROUND!!! What the fuck did I-! Get on the ground you're under arrest Adam! Guy's We got a code 32 we got a code 32! Darriek! WE ALREADY GOT THE GUY... HE'S DEAD!
Here in Norway there was a brief newsscandal about NO SCHOOLS HAVING A PLAN IN CASE OF SHOOTERS!
That's a slight lie.
My last school has an unofficial policy for school shooters, and it is for only one class.
Shoot back :v:
Such is life at gunsmith class.
At first day of school, we had to move guns from the old school bunker to the new one, so I walked through art class carrying a pump-shotgun in each hand, pointed to another door and the teacher opened it for me.
For some reason, the quickest way to our bunker, is through art class :v:
None of students screamed or anything either, they just sat there slackjawed while my class kept going throguh their classroom carrying guns like we were some arms smugglers or something.
We recently discovered that the "ALARM WILL SOUND" doors at our school aren't actually alarmed, which makes for some convenient shortcuts.
