I'm surprised no fanboy has come in yet and complained about it being a ripoff of dayz.
They're either afraid of getting showered with boxes or told off by someone who knows that this was in development before DayZ came to be. It's bound to happen, or not.
Jumped a little when he went through the door at the end and the zombies were on his right.
But yeah, I like the look of this. Sort of looks like a more isolated, Left 4 Dead-like game with a few Day Z and Dead Island elements, rather than a straight copy of Day Z, like some people were accusing it of being.
looks like it would feel too much like a regular fps
Looks like DayZ, but better.
in development before DayZ came to be. It's bound to happen, or not.
You'll be surprised how unimportant that actually is.
I mean, the entire 'DayZ concept' has been on hundreds of paper-napkins for years now, each legitimately been 'in development' for longer.
I wouldn't rule out DayZ's success as inspiration so quickly.
Same thing applies to all the voxel games that came out after minecraft, even though minecraft didn't invent the idea.
playin' devils advocate 'ere

If I have to choose between regular FPS and the way Arma handles it I'm going for WarZ
The jerky mouse movement is the only problem I seen. Looking good.
guns in every building, loot is highlighted, hit indicators, silencers apparently make your gun 100% silent, and only a handful of zombies in a town....
Looks alrite, but the warZ is a stupid name.

I think WarZ tries to focus more on the PvP, hence all the shit you can add to your gun.

That's a worry.

Haven't they said elsewhere that the in the video they were just lucky and that there isn't going to be that many guns, in fact they were going to be pretty damn rare?
This and DayZ made me realize how much I want Co-Op in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
I've played a shitty MMO version of Stalker, and I've played an actual coop mod for Stalker. It's fun, but dies quickly. However, neither were structured properly.

It is hard to believe that it was in development if almost all textures and models are reused from War Inc. Battlezone

DayZ allready is way to PVP focused.
DayZ allready is way to PVP focused.
Dayz is PvP focused because PvE is non existent.
DayZ allready is way to PVP focused.
On the contrary, I'd say it's a perfectly good amount of PVP.
Granted, it has gotten on the silly side as of late with nearly everyone shooting anyone.
But it wasn't always like that, it's the communities fault it's gone that way.
Regardless of how ridiculous it is today, the PVP is still a massive part of it, it's very psychological.

The non stop PvP is the reason i got bored of the mod, there is nothing else to do.
The non stop PvP is the reason i got bored of the mod, there is nothing else to do.
Yeah, that's the communities fault, not the mods.
Sadly, I don't think that'll ever change. Since it got so popular, people just went insane.
It's supposed to have some people teaming up and some people being bandits, that is how it should be, that's how it was, it was great.
I feel bad for the people who got into DayZ after it went insanely popular, they'll never experience it the same way myself and the others did before all of the assholes joined.
Yeah, that's the communities fault, not the mods
you can't blame a community for something like that 100%. there are ways to structure a game so that the community has to play it in a certain way. it's the fault of the devs for allowing their game to turn into a pvp looting game where the zombies are just an irritating piece of shit that gets in the way. the devs are way to laissez-faire about the whole thing with their "we can't tell the players what to do because that's part of the game! if they want to make it shit for everyone else, then we just have to let them!"
there are parts of dayz that i love, but it's starting to drag now because it's like a sniper hunting ground now, not a psychological survival horror. there are parts of warz that worry me because it looks way too standard-fps and 'gamey', but i can imagine warz working in the long-term much better
Movement looks shitty, stuttering. Rest is okay.

The biggest problem is that no one trusts anyone. It didn't start off so bad, it's just that bandits would kill the people who were trying to get a group going and so people got pissed off and began bandits themselves.
I don't really see a way of stopping the insane PVP without punishing bandits in some way, which would ruin half of the game.
What would be a way to fix it without ruining part of the game?
It like the looks of it. It seems like it will be a smooth and more fun to play version of DayZ. I'm wondering though, will we be able to constantly switch to third-person or just when we spawn? In War Inc. You can only spawn in third or first person.

Just because War Inc chooses to do it that way doesn't mean WarZ will.
I hope they do allow to change whenever, it'd be stupid to only choose once.

i dunno it's a pretty huge issue that would have to be seriously looked at by the devs and the community together over some time so it's a good thing the game is still alpha
there will always have to be a sort of trade-off to be made between complete freedom and some control. for example, bringing back the bandit outfits so that you can more clearly distinguish who to trust and who not to would help the issue somewhat, but then of course that removes some of the psychological and social impact of the game. it's a tricky issue

There is no way to stop PVP because it like you said is the fault of the player base. It changed from ArmA players and smaller communitys to a hyped game played by everyone.
it's like you're implying that exclusivity is the only way to make a good game because eventually your elitist experience will be inevitably ruined by normal people. if you want to stop that then you either put more constraints on the game or introduce private servers or user subscription fees, and you wouldn't like either of those either right?

It is the only way without ruining what made it great in the first place.
