• Wisdom teeth just got yanked.

Did you actually need your wisdom teeth out or did they just remove them for the sake of removing them? Apparently most dentists like doing that just because they end up being difficult to clean and its basically the norm now. My dentist told me that if any other dentist says I should get mine removed I should refuse, later on if life you might have an accident and get some teeth knocked out or something and those wisdom teeth can still help you chew. Of course if the teeth are coming in sideways, upsidedown or god knows what position then you should probably listen to the dentist.
So like in order to make healing go faster and make muscles in your jaw relax, wet a face cloth towel thingy and heat in microwave for like thirty seconds until it's warm enough to touch but not enough to burn. Then hold the towel to your cheeks and try and flex your jaw sort of like making your mouth go down and up (although you can't really move your mouth at all for the first two days or so). Once you do that you should feel muscle's relaxing and DO NOT use ice as it only slows the process. You want the muscles in your jaw to relax and putting cold to it simply makes them contract. Do the towel thing and don't fly for like a week.
I had surgery back in October. Had an infection in the top of one of my front teeth, up in the root. Went through a shorter version of what you just experienced. Nothing I can really recommend other than just enjoying your pain medicine for a week or so. I remember I just stayed nice and fucked up on the vicodin I was prescribed the week after I got my wisdom teeth pulled, back when I was 12. I was knocked out cold for that one though, so the surgery part was way better than lying there awake.
I had 4 teeth pulled so that my teeth could be realigned with braces. "Alright, now it's going to bleed a bit" FUCK YOU. Gotta love the anesthetic as well, I swore I had the soup in my mouth and my mouth closed but my stained shirt proved quite the contrary.
You got all 4 removed in one sitting? I had to get 4 removed for the same reason. When I got to the dentist, I asked why I couldn't get em all removed at once. He told me "You'll know why soon". I got the 2 on my right side of the mouth taken out first. If i'd had all 4 taken out, i'd have starved and died. You can't chew for shit with clots there. Right now, my right side of the mouth is healed up, but it hurts if I chew stuff like bread or sausages :( Left side is still healing. Pisses me off cause I can't eat anything unless it's liquedized, else I just tear up my gums.
I don't have wisdom teeth.

One of the buggers was coming in underneath another tooth, and was fucking some shit up. I had a pus-sac filled with nastiness in the flesh above the tooth. Doctor was more than happy to let me know when he incised it, flooding my mouth with all sorts of hell. Doctor also seemed pleased to say that my upper wisdoms weren't yet ready for removal, and that I would most likely have to visit him again in the future. edit Also, this Vicoden stuff they gave me is pretty boss. He told me it might knock me out, but I'm feeling rather chipper. A bit twitchy, even.
I want some Vicodin :(
I once split the skin on my knee wide open and when they stitched it up they gave me this excellent pain killer, I remember looking at the wound and I started talking about how cool it was to see the layers of my skin.
lol, drugs.
Helps to have people say it doesn't hurt much, but I'm still scared as fuck because I have a phobia of dentists. :frown:
Helps to have people say it doesn't hurt much, but I'm still scared as fuck because I have a phobia of dentists. :frown:
Just visit a good dentist and you'll be fine after a while. I had a phobia too, my childhood dentist was crap, and if I ever felt it, he would just tell me "it won't be much longer" rather than stopping and numbing me more. Hated it. Same with flying. I used to get scared as fuck flying in planes, what with the turbulence and everything. After flying 2-3 times, I calmed down. Now it doesn't even bother me. I'm with a great dentist at the moment, really like him. Luckily, i'm taking real good care of my teeth now, so I shouldn't have to ever have teeth removed or anything.
Helps to have people say it doesn't hurt much, but I'm still scared as fuck because I have a phobia of dentists. :frown:
Yeah, I was scared as hell myself. Getting things ripped out of me is, like, my least favorite thing. Really though, you don't feel a damn thing during the actual surgery. The noises are the worst part of the surgery. The recovery process blows though.
When the shitty injections wear off prepare for a cockton of pain, you'll be bleeding for almost a week too. One thing I noticed about the injections is that they contained Epinephrine, why I don't fucking know, but it made me shake like a bitch and rose my blood pressure which made my bleeding worse. IN CONCLUSION you better have a fucking prescription for oxycodone or some shit
Fuck opiates, just smoke some weed.
I love you
I learned a few weeks ago I gotta get them removed before summer, but that isn't the worst part, I have a fifth wisdom teeth that grew behind my top left one, my dentist just starred awkwardly at my jaw radiography and I knew something was wrong
I'm getting mine cut out this upcoming Monday. But I don't get anesthesia, just a shot of novocaine in my mouth. :ohdear:
6 teeth removed here all by local anesthesia
Yeah, that's what I'm getting when I get mine out.; local anesthesia.
6 teeth removed here all by local anesthesia
I got mine out in August. After a day or two I could speak normally, and eat some liquid food, but once you start eating solid food again, you're going to have to go through the whole "there's week-old food stuck in a crater an inch deep into my jaw and I can't tongue it out" speil for a good couple weeks. Make sure you get a syringe for yourself to blast out the food particles. Shit's gross.
Take pain meds, smoke pot, all is well.
Smoking anything in the first few days is a horrible idea, as you'll fuck up the healing process and have dry sockets, which are fucking horrible shit to deal with apparently. [editline]10:56PM[/editline] Grind up your weed and sprinkle it on some ice cream or pudding or something
i got two of my wisdom teeth pulled, they couldn't pull them out whole so they had to break the teeth into tiny pieces and remove them shard by shard. I didn't bleed much though, just keep pressure on your gums (a piece of cloth or something) and the bleeding should stop in an hour or two
I've had my premolars removed for braces. A bit painful, but nothing unbearable. The worst one was the tooth that had a completed fucked up, bent root, so when she yanked it out half of my fucking gum came out with it. That hurt like a fucker after a few hours.
and you better take some pain pills before the Novocaine wears off, otherwise your mouth will hurt like fuck
Fuck opiates, just smoke some weed.
for pain? i'd take opiates..
My wisdom teeth were in my mouth completely sideways. When I had them pulled out I was knocked out cold so I don't recall anything other than talking about something about ornamental plants one second and then waking up with my cheeks stuffed with blood-soaked cotton and my entire mouth completely numb.
I just took tylenol or an equivalent and was fine. I also had spacers (for braces) in between my back teeth that made it even worse. You should be fine in a day or two, seriously.
My wisdom teeth are coming in perfectly, therefore I am more manly than a US Army soldier. :v: You're a tough SOB, you'll do fine.
I just took tylenol or an equivalent and was fine. I also had spacers (for braces) in between my back teeth that made it even worse. You should be fine in a day or two, seriously.
ARGH! I fucking HATED spacers. They've been the worst part of the whole brace-process so far (most painful part of the process). Some of them popped out when I was eating (I ONLY ATE NOODLES! HOW THE FUCK DID THEY COME OUT?!) and I was so relieved for like a fucking day... but then I had to go back to the dentist and get new ones put in again :( I stopped eating after they came out for the second time. Worst week ever.
Big Dumb, I'd like to thank for for settling my worries about wisdom teeth, she said it would hurt like hell but since you discribed your situation so well, I don't have anything to worry about. Except the drool and blood I guess.
If I ever get my wisdom teeth removed. I am going to take enough of those pain killers they give you that I will not feel a thing for the rest of my life.
Enjoy the taste of blood for a week.
