I find it interesting that an Indian gets bashed and the Indian government and such get all up in arms about it, like no other people in Australia are getting bashed or are victims of crime. It's strange.
At least the Indian government is looking out for it's tourists overseas.
At least the Indian government is looking out for it's tourists overseas.
By threatening to cut trade links and such? I'm sorry but whining at the Australian Government doesn't stop random acts of violence on the streets. The government can't control every singe one of it's citizens nor can it assure the safey of everyone in the country. This is part of the risk of living in a so called civilized society, we have criminals. Would you have the police specifically protect Indian students and not anyone else?
Also did you know you can't sell vehicles on a sunday here.
Also did you know you can't sell vehicles on a sunday here.
What the fuck? Since when? Why have I not heard about this before? Why is it still around? WWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYY????!!!!
I rather stick with our current flag. Also, WTB better internets
I'm glad almost no one listens to people like the OP. Tell me OP, in the 50,000 or so years aboriginals have lived on the continent, what have they accomplished that the settlers didn't in 200 years? There's a good reason January 26th is Australia day. fyi answers like "NOT SCREWING UP THE LAND" aren't actual answers
Tell me OP, in the 50,000 or so years aboriginals have lived on the continent, what have they accomplished that the settlers didn't in 200 years?
I dunno dude, I've seen some pretty technical finger paintings.
The colonization by the brits was the best thing to happen to this place. If no one colonized this country, the abo's would still be living like they did for the last 50-60,000 years.
I have to say though there are deep rooted problems with the aboriginals such as mentioned, they don't need to be expressed so bluntly. I think TH89 went overboard with a few of the bannings however. It's sad to say that Aboriginal culture is essentially dead, the White Australia Policy and the settlement of Australia by the British in general screwed it up. The 'bubble' we are keeping them in is only to save face in what the Government did, but it is only creating further problems. The government pledges money to these people but it is mostly always wasted. Throwing money at them isn't going to solve their issues.
Fuck people, there was a poll about this and what was like, like 80% said don't change the flag. You think of it, how all those men died in WW2 for this country, they fought under that flag you fucking asshole.

I used to want an aborignal flag instead of the union jack but one day I grew up [editline]08:33PM[/editline]
Since when are Aussie teens racist to asians? Most of my friends are asian...
Fuckin' A, I don't do this shit either Oh yeah and OP is an idoit, you don't have to be proud that your forefathers invaded a country, but it's a fucking disgrace not to be proud you belong to a good country.
Complaining about the flag is pointless. They flag is not the thing that defines us, it's just something we identify with.

It's not like I did anything to influence where I was born. Patriotism is generally stupid.
Some people are just like "Hur dur my country sucks" In truth I don't think people like you'd be happy anywhere
Some people are just like "Hur dur my country sucks" In truth I don't think people like you'd be happy anywhere
That's not my attitude, if that's what you're implying. It's just that thinking a country is awesome just because you were born in it is stupid. If not for the silly nanny-state shit going on right now, this would be a great country.
I bet you the Australian government is pulling this blacklist thing and the banning of games thing as a stunt to get more attention to boost its tourist tax income. And i am happy i live in Australia, there's a few things I don't like, but overall it's a decent place to live.
Don't forget they hate female ejaculation and small breasts
I bet you the Australian government is pulling this blacklist thing and the banning of games thing as a stunt to get more attention to boost its tourist tax income.
No, not at all.
I think it's a good country because of the people in it. I am truly sorry that aborignals were killed, it was practically genocide, but if people think that I honestly care enough to smack an aborignal flag in the middle of ours, just as an add on to "sorry" they can get fucked. We don't treat them adequately, but you honestly tell me that the majority of them are exactly deserving of sympathy. You walk past a group of them at a bus stop and they fucking threaten you, every goddamn time. If you're by yourself, they'll fuck you up. You go into the city, after dark with a group of them in your path they will have a go at you. I'm not saying every single Aborignal in australia fits this standard, but from what I've seen it's simple to draw a conclusion. They get free schooling, and support from the goverment for housing (rightly so) But instead, at 12 on a monday morning you see them wandering around causing trouble. At least three of my friends have been beaten up during this kind of shit. (User was banned for this post ("Racism" - TH89))
No, not at all.
Hahaha, it'd be a good plan at the cost of alot of votes
What's up with TH89 banning people in this thread for "racism" The stereotypes against aboriginals are almost entirely correct. The Aboriginals that complain about being disrespected aren't treated that way because they're Aboriginals, they're treated that way because they've probably yet to earn any respect. As a matter of fact, they get more rights than the rest of us. They can get their entire schooling paid for them by the government if they so choose it. They get a number of incentives to get a job, shit like tax breaks and all that. They have twice the opportunities than the rest of us get, but the fact of the matter is that most of them just aren't interested in bettering themselves. Rather than take on those incentives for their own good, they abuse them and leech off them as much as they can to further their own bad habits. And every time the government tries to do something about it, they start calling racism. I'm not saying this about all Aboriginals, in fact, this is a point that many of my Aboriginal friends, who I have plenty of respect for, agree with. I'm just saying that respect needs to be earned before it is given. (User was banned for this post ("Racism" - TH89))

Funny story about that. There was a school in my area that said they had an "Indigenous tutoring program"; so I sent them an email saying it was "racist and they should open it to all races"; which is entirely true. My school principal told me to come to his office one day and he talked to me about it and he thought it wasn't racist and backed it up with "with the history they've been through they may need further education". Which may be true, but the program is still racist. It's what's called "reverse discrimination" and it's fairly recent and is in society alot. People will automatically be nice to the black guy, teachers treat the darker kid nicer than the others and the other average looking guys will be treated "normally".
The racist folk that get drunk on Australia day and cause shit are there to be ignored, every country has these people. They are called idiots. Unfortunately the rest of the world sees reports of isolated racism and assume it's the norm
I wouldn't really call this isolated [editline]11:42AM[/editline] Although I have to say I feel like I've learned a lot about Australia from these threads

Well, there's always koalas. [editline]11:45AM[/editline] Aww.
I would call it isolated simply from my on the ground experience here.
