• The Milk Tea Thread v. What is Boba?

I'm pretty sure the milk tea that this thread is about is nothing like regular tea with milk in it
I love Boba Tea, but I have trouble figuring out what flavors I want at the trendy art cafes.
plus equals Real Milk Tea
I completely misread the title and expected a thread about Milk (which I love) and Tea (which I also love). I'm leaving now, don't even care if Milk Tea is a different thing and it's delicious, I'm disappointed.

How do you ice milk tea and what's the perfect ratio of tea to milk, would you add just as much sugar as normal tea? Also what french vanilla milk teas are the best?
Worked it out. I'm gonna have to try this, what do the boba ball things taste like?
Have you even tried Chinese milk tea with boba?
nope tbh i don't even like tea, i'm a coffee person [editline]23rd June 2013[/editline] doubt you could get boba in the uk anyway :(
whenever i got boba tea (what we just call milk tea with boba) at this one place, the straws would be just the right diameter to be able to suck the boba inside the straw but not easily i would then suck them up, keep them in there and blow as hard as i could at unsuspecting victims that shit FLIES [editline]23rd June 2013[/editline]
Worked it out. I'm gonna have to try this, what do the boba ball things taste like?
hard to explain, you'll really have to taste for yourself
Worked it out. I'm gonna have to try this, what do the boba ball things taste like?
They don't have a heavy taste or anything, but yeah, it's too hard to describe.
Don't people in America normally have milk in their tea? In England it's considered normal to put milk in your tea rather than have it black.
Don't people in America normally have milk in their tea? You don't put milk in that, I would imagine this is a similar sort of thing but with milk and balls added.
The milk tea of the fucking gods:
This, so fucking much. If you haven't tasted this tea then you have yet to taste the seven rivers of heaven. A general tea thread shoud be more practical right now.
Don't people in America normally have milk in their tea? In England it's considered normal to put milk in your tea rather than have it black.
no. normally (at least in hot parts of the country) it's served iced with a lot of sugar already added and possibly lemon
I love stabbing this fucker in the face..
I assume this tea isn't your usual Orange Pekoe, where would one go about getting it?
woah I only knew these are also called boba tea today they're more commonly known as pearl tea (literal translation) here boba tea sounds like a really outdated taiwanese slang I think yuanyang is the best kind of tea myself, not sure if it even qualify as one though
I can't stand milk in my tea or coffee or anywhere actually, which is weird because I would take a bullet for cheese and yogurt
[t]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Mj5NBd_Nd6Y/TpBoP4MObyI/AAAAAAAABPg/SPyzH0GP6bY/s1600/DSC_0964.JPG[/t] Any love for Thai milk tea?

Canadians call it bubble tea. Yuanyang is decent, had some in Beijing once. Prefer the iced tea (HK type) over it though.
Americans call it boba tea.
Not all Americans call it that.
fun fact: the word 'boba' can also be used to describe ladies with big rack
almond milk tea is the fucking best or maybe lavender milk tea or maybe hazelnut fuckit theyre all good
Jasmine Milk Tea with Aloe Vera oh man
Oh wow, a thread about my addiction. Ever since my uni friends told me about a place called 'Bubbleology' in Piccadilly Circus, It's pretty much been my go to place when I fancy a day out with friends. They have Milk Teas and plain Fruit Teas. You can choose and mix flavours, have it hot or cold, and add flavoured jelly as well as something called 'popping boba' which is like a jelly coated ball of fruity liquid which explodes in your mouth. I have to travel into central today, so I may have to go there on the way back.
This, so fucking much. If you haven't tasted this tea then you have yet to taste the seven rivers of heaven. A general tea thread shoud be more practical right now.
And I heartly pull a 180 and retract my previous statement and say that is not infact true. We actually had a milk tea over here back in 2010-2011 that tasted exactly like pancakes and syrup. This is a tea of the gods... It tasted so fucking amazing nice and hot from a vending machine. Sadly it has been discontinued, It was distributed by Morinaga, and manufactured by Dydo. (It was advertised as a 'milk shake' but most canned 'milk shakes' in Japan are actually just heavily flavored milk tea, which this is)
I like my tea as raw as it gets but I'd be willing to try whatever's in the OP for an occasional desert drink or something, like I would a milkshake. There are a million and a half frozen yogurt shops around here so maybe one of them will have something of the like.
desert drink
you'd be lucky to have water in a desert
I never knew people had tea black. Well this is an interesting development.
£0.26 value tesco tea is actually great.
