Some of my favourite songs by Daft Punk: And tons of other songs that I can't recall right now xP I still remember when this group were my favourite in the 8th grade... Interstellar 555... Ahhh memories :unsmith: I jumped up the chair when I heard they were back making the soundtrack of the Tron movie! Was so hyped for it! Shit was epic...
Everyone get together and pray that these will once again unite and make another album.
Is Thomas still DJing after that tinnitus scare?
Tinnitus? Woah, never heard about that. What happened?
Tinnitus? Woah, never heard about that. What happened?
From Wikipedia
It was reported that Bangalter had quit DJing in clubs due to developing tinnitus in 2002, saying "I’ve given up because I want to protect my ears". Orde Meikle of Slam later stated that Bangalter had sufficiently recovered from the condition, stating that "he had a bit of a scare and thought he’d damaged his ear and had to take obviously reasonably drastic steps to see how bad the damage was."
[editline]1st March 2011[/editline] He did DJ at Busy P's birthday a while ago. That was one hell of a set.
Has anyone here ever tried to make or has made the helmets?
I'm not a big fan of Daft Punk. To me they're meh... but certainly not bad at what they do.
Has anyone here ever tried to make or has made the helmets?
I was on Stumble Upon a while back, and this guy had a step by step process on making one. It looked great, but it takes some where around 6 months to make and is somewhat pricey.
I saw Tron: Legacy just for daft punk Futuristic club music for the fucking win.
The movie would have been shit if it hadn't been for Daft Punk and their music in it.
The movie would have been shit if it hadn't been for Daft Punk and their music in it.
I liked it. The soundtrack just made it even better. Though I have to admit once I found out they were doing the soundtrack I was perfectly okay with spending the money to see it in IMAX JUST to hear Daft Punk through an epic sound system.
Veridis Quo Very disco discovery Love that song too.
Daft Punk is awesome. Also I'd say my favourite album is probably Human After All. I can see why it's disliked (People being all like "unoriginal, repetitive songs") but still, I find it a really enjoyable album. But that could be because I've listened Discovery and Homework to death. Edit:
Veridis Quo Very disco discovery
Mind = blown
I can't wait for a new album anymore I CAN'T a

My. Ears. Came.
It's been too long since their last tour...
It's been too long since their last tour...
I see what you did there :rimshot: [editline]4th March 2011[/editline]
I heard the album before I watched the movie at the cinemas. Fuck yea
Veridis Quo Very disco discovery Love that song too.
What the shit. I've seriously listened to Discovery since like 2001/2002, and I've never noticed that until now. You just blew my mind.
A friend showed me Alive 2007, and the The Prime Time of Your Life/The Brainwasher/Rollin' & Scratchin'/Alive mix just blew my mind away. That mix is sooo sexy. Two weeks ago I bought Homework and Discovery, and I hardly have listened to anything else than Discovery since.
Television Rules the Nation/Cresendolls Was also a good mix
The movie would have been shit if it hadn't been for Daft Punk and their music in it.
I think Jeff Bridges still could've saved it.
Here's a discovery and friend and I did. The Tron album was supposedly done completely from scratch (no sampling involved), but here's a track that share striking similarities with the single "Derezzed". Sure, it's a common kind of beat, but the tempo is nearly identical and the snare sounds very similar. The basslines are pretty similar too. Not to mention the saw riff. The keys are separated only one semitone. Coincidence? You decide..
Bit of a backstory for those interested.
Daft Punk is an electronic music duo consisting of French musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (born February 8, 1974) and Thomas Bangalter (born January 3, 1975). Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synthpop. The duo is also credited with producing songs that were considered essential in the French house scene. They were managed from 1996 to 2008 by Pedro Winter (Busy P), the head of Ed Banger Records. Early in the group's career, the band members were strongly influenced by groups such as The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones. Bangalter and de Homem-Christo were originally in a band called Darlin', which disbanded after a short period of time, leaving the two to experiment musically on their own. The duo became Daft Punk, and released their critically acclaimed debut album Homework in 1997. The 2001 release Discovery was even more successful, driven by the club singles "One More Time", "Digital Love" and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger". In March 2005, the duo released the album Human After All to mixed reviews. However, the singles "Robot Rock" and "Technologic" achieved success in the United Kingdom. Daft Punk toured throughout 2006 and 2007 and released the live album Alive 2007, which won a Grammy award for Best Electronic/Dance Album. The duo composed the score of the film Tron: Legacy and in 2010 released the soundtrack album of the film. Daft Punk is noted for its elaborate live shows, in which visual elements and effects are incorporated with the music. The group is also known for its emphasis on visual and story components associated with their musical productions, as well as for wearing ornate robot costumes in public and while performing.
Now that's out of the way, yeah, I'm a big DP fan. Discovery is my favourite album of all time. Brilliant production. I'm also a big fan of Thomas and Guy-Man's work outside of DP. Check out the Crydamoure and Roule labels, owned by Guy-Man and Thomas respectively.
Are there any recent pics of Guy-Man?
