6 - A robot most satisfy the sexual needs of its owner... in any ways the owner pleases to. 7 - A robot most be able to make sandwiches.
That was exactly what I was going to say.
"Rudimentary creatues of blood and flesh. You touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance."
Late. [img_thumb]http://diztopia.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2007/11/28/dental_robot_real_doll_combo.jpg[/img_thumb]
How about robots that don't venture into the uncanny valley.
8. I'm afraid I can't let you do that, Dave.
Just make sure the robots are extremely easy to kill. problem solved.
I don't think we will have anything compared to human level intelligence in 50 years. Oh, it may be able to simulate it to an extent; but to come up with its own ideas and reasoning? I doubt it.
I don't follow the example.
I want robots, for everyone. Edit: This song is more annoying than I remember it being.
Make robots that learn from humans like humans learn from humans, teach it how to be a good person and how to help things out, then let it go. No laws required, and then it can be free with no restrictions except for its conscience and morality.
This. Give it a reason to actually follow laws. Putting a series of laws in front of any intelligent being without establishing a legitimate background for the laws will just end badly. But establish reasons why they should follow the laws and they will do it willingly without having to be programmed. Solve the problem at the source, not with an arbitrary set of rules.
Don't make the same mistake the Quarians dead. The only good Geth is a dead Geth
Rule 1.#INF)Robots must do what I fucking say, or else. End of story.
but computers function by arbitrary rules.
AIs don't, though. Their minds work in the same way ours do. They don't follow commands, they form ideas and act on them.
AIs don't, though. Their minds work in the same way ours do. They don't follow commands, they form ideas and act on them.
But they're still computers. It can be imprinted on them and seem perfectly rational.
I believe that anything with the ability to pass the Turing Test and is conscious and metacognizent has full right to be given human rights. If they do not want this, then they simply should not create sch intelligent AIs.
But they're still computers. The only way to imprint commands would be to make instincts. As you all know, instincts can be broken.

8 - They must be able to assassinate/vaporize the neighbor dog if it is to noisy and the owner wont do a shit about i t and you cant sleep because of the damn dog is barking all night. 9 - Jagermeister and beer dispenser... 10 - When you have a lady visitor the robot must be able to shoot a tranquillizing dart so you can capture her and put her in the basement for future sexual research. 11 - Must be able to give a high-five when you have accomplished something successful, for example rule 10. 12 - The robot always agrees to your opinions.

It's shown that we can't play god, and we never should. We are still too evil and corrupt to be able to create.

We are still too evil and corrupt to be able to create.
Not all people are evil and corrupt. Many people, especially those who dedicate their lives to a cause like this, are incredibly moral.
If anything, we should never try to achieve a full cognizant artificial form, it would be opening a can of worms a million gallons in size. However, have it quasi intelligent; Able to learn, adapt and have forethought, but without having emotions or abstract thought.
fuck the rules I want a sexbot
Hey, how about this for an idea: Don't make robots that would be able to break these rules. If a robot isn't supposed to hurt human beings, don't give it the equipment and control to do so.:downs:
Not all people are evil and corrupt. Many people, especially those who dedicate their lives to a cause like this, are incredibly moral.
But those who are evil and corrupt in power will use this for evil rather than good. It doesn't matter about the majority, some people are in power or are in a position of possible power (due to wealth, connections, ect) will use it against humanity and development of humanity.
They should have a voice-recognised off switch that is hardwired into the system and can not be overridden without a complete replacement of the CPU / Motherboard. Thatway if it ever gets out of hand, a simple command said in a stern tone (in a similar manner to how you address a bad dog; for example: "OFF!") will force it to shut down if for any reason it decides to do harm.
I think it would be funny if someone made a warbot, told it the 3 rules and it just said "nigga please" and shoots everyone.
A true AI would technically be a sentient being. They would be self-aware, capable of cognitive thought, and would have a personality. As such, they should have the same social rights as human beings. However, a limited AI, such as any construct using laws like Asmiov's, is simply a tool.
I think that if A.I. ever becomes smart enough to be a threat to anything it will be smart enough to not need fixed rules and will instead use an adaptive version.
http://www.kuro5hin.org/prime-intellect/index.html That story is pretty good. Sorry if this is a repost. EDIT: very nsfw
They should make it so that the AI can't harm anything. It would suck if we had AI robots going around and killing every animal, plant or general life they come across.
There was actually a rather interesting short-story by Asimov involving the robots that remained after mankind was wiped out. They believed that some alien threat destroyed their masters, so they made more of themselves, ventured into space and started exterminating other sentient lifeforms in the hopes to kill the aliens that destroyed humanity. SPOILER ALERT! [sp]Mankind killed themselves in nuclear war. When this was suggested to the commander of this robot army, he stated that noone else should know of this fact, as it would leave them without purpose.[/sp]
http://world.honda.com/ASIMO/ Considering that this is the pinnacle of modern "practical" AI, I don't think we have much to worry about.
ASIMO's an experiment in robot mobility, not particularly artificial intelligence. Machines that are more software-oriented like Kismet would be a better example. As for the 3 Laws, I think it'd be simpler just to make a truly empathetic machine.
