The Addicts' Lounge V - What time is it? Time to get high!

Took 100 micrograms of 1P today. Started around 9, 9:30 AM and am still feeling it at about 11 PM. Lysergamides take way too long (plus have a really uncomfortable forced stimulation feeling), think I'll stick to tryptamines.
Also probably doesn't help any that I was having a semi-argument with my less drug tolerant girlfriend right at the peak, so I went through some serious introspection.
Took me ages to get used to drinking whiskey. But now after 2 years without drinking I'm back on square one but worse, I get gag reflexes. But I guess that's a good thing.
which whiskey and how tha fuc are you drinking it?
Everything I see. And I never drink to enjoy myself, I've only done it to fuck my shit up.
I'm trying to quit drinking during the week and keep it to weekends. Started getting into the bad habit of everyday coming home, having a beer and smoke, then being like 'fuck it' and having a couple more shots/beer to go play videogames n shit. Getting drunk every night was becoming a bad habit, I just rather save money and my body from that slippery slope, but good news from my job came through. They really do like me and are working on a plan of adding me to the team, figure out my new role n shit. I feel loads better, started slowly working out again. Its just so much easier to focus on self improvement when big rain clouds like job shit lingers over you.
I bought an Xmax Starry V2 a while ago and it's the best thing ever.
Did you get a special oil/hash container with your bong? I got a small metal-mesh container that I can fill and then put into the vape,
If you didn't get one of those with your vape it might only be for use with dry herb, not oils or hash.
This one doesn't support concetrates by default, if seems.
I tried putting a thin layer of cotton, and then putting hash on top - and it seemed to work.
In your experience, how is the high with dry herb compared to usual methods of consumption?
Yeah you should try it, it's a blast
Well then h'what the fucc! Disguise your swill with cluba soda/lemon. You can't call yourself an alcoholic like me if you can't sip jack daniels on the rocks, though.
It's definitely the cleanest high you can get, especially when joints and the sorts give you mad coughs like they do for me. Now I can actually enjoy the first 20 minutes of my high instead of feeling like I'm fucking dying.
Also it's super efficient, too. With about the same amount of weed you would put in a joint I can either get super baked twice, or just fairly high three times if I pump up the temperature towards the end. You can also get just the right amount of high way easier and the bud you vaped can be reused for cooking projects afterwards as it usually still contains some THC.
I just don't get it then. I don't get nearly as high with a vape.
What temperatures do you go through and how long do you care?
Like, if you can't see the vapor at lower temperatures, how do you know you when you stop? I just go up 5C every 45 seconds or so when I start from 160
I usually start at around 190°C and stay there until the vapor thins out drastically, then I go up 10° and repeat until I reach 220 at which point I can't really get any more out of that load. I usually dont vape a full load in one setting, so when I have a fresh load and start at 190 I usually stop at 200 or 210 depending on how high I wanna get. I know people usually use lower Temps than that but around 200 just works better for me, YMMV.
I had that impression at the start but once you get the technique down, nothing beats it (except for edibles maybe). joints, bongs and whatever never gets me as high as a vape does plus a small amount is easily comparable to a full size joint which says plenty about the efficiency of those things.
how are you using it? are you using it as if it were a joint? vapor takes a bit longer to absorb than smoke so it's advisable to keep it in for a few seconds before exhaling. ideally there shouldn't be any vapor coming back out. you also shouldn't inhale too hard as it'll cool down the herb as the air passes over. inhale slowly and longer than smoking and you should get more vapor out of it. I like to inhale slowly for about 5-6 seconds, hold for 5-6 seconds then exhale. inhale into your stomach to fill your lungs proper. as for knowing when to stop, its something you'll slowly learn once you get used to how long it takes for the herb to deplete. I was confused by it at first but its become second nature now. besides, you can always re-vape the ABV to see if there's more juice which I like to do so nothing is wasted if you quit early.
regarding hash, I've found it to work less than optimal compared to ground herb. it's a lot more sticky and icky like you found out and it can actually ruin your vape completely if you're not careful. the hash becomes rock solid after its been used in a vape so it is a infuriating experience to get it back out, if you manage to get it out at all. that shit can seep into cracks or get
permanently stuck to the chamber walls which is bad news for the vape as it might stop working optimally. there's less surface area for the vapor to escape from as well so I often find I have to vape a bit, open it up and stir it while its gooey then put it back in and try again. it's a lot more cumbersome compared to herb but it does work, if you're willing to put in the extra work and time. that said, I have a dry herb and concentrate vape so mine is made for both. I don't know what exactly differs between a multipurpose like mine and a straight up herb vape but I imagine there's a reason why they're marketed as two different products. all I know is that I have a small glass jar intended for concentrates to prevent it from ruining the heating chamber.
I'd raise the temperature to at least 180c as well. I start there, vape until I'm satisfied or until it feels like I'm not getting hits anymore then I raise by 10-20c depending on the mood until I hit 220c, which I vape to depletion then I discard the ABV and set it aside for the days I'm dankrupt and desperate.

here's a nice overview of when the different chemicals in the weed starts to vaporize.
I've tried both short and long inhales, since I've read conflicting tips on how to properly take hits.
Thanks for the tips, I'll try it out ASAP.
The problem is, I'm not sure if there's a point. I've seen quite a lot of people claiming that "it's the best high", yet, people had to take tolerance breaks to adjust to the level of high vapes give them compared to combustion. The most obvious thing to do would be to try to refund it and then invest in a better vape, but if people with the best vapes claim it doesn't last as long and it's fundamentally different from combustion - it is really for me?
tolerance breaks to adjust to the vapor high? I haven't heard that one before. I doubt you'd need to reset your tolerance to properly enjoy a vape. both delivery methods achieve the same end result and that is delivering cannabinoids to your lungs. the largest difference is that vapor = only cannabinoids while combusting = cannabinoids as well as toxic smoke. this difference does cause a different initial high due to your brain reacting to the smoke which causes symptoms like becoming lightheaded and dizzy, but the rest of the high should be about the same. the vapor high can also come on somewhat slower in my experience which I assume is because of the slower heating and lower overall temperature in the vape which means less cannabinoids per puff compared to smoking, aka longer sessions. highly efficient tho! all you need is to accept the longer sessions and I can guarantee you that you'll get a lot higher than combusting. as for the duration of the high itself there shouldn't be much difference at all.
a downside to a vape is that you won't get the full spectrum of effects if you vape on lower temperatures. as the picture above makes clear, some of the cannabinoids won't evaporate until as far up as 220c. this can give the impression that combusting weed gives more of an effect but that's not really true. people are simply vaping on too low temperatures to experience the full spectrum of effects. the beauty of vaping is that you can easily control what cannabinoids you want and dose more accurately so if one wants to, they could set their vape to 220c right off the bat and take it from there.
in the end its all personal preference. some people might enjoy the extra effects that smoking can give as well as the shorter sessions, while others enjoy the clearer experience of only cannabinoids. personally I think vaping is the superior option due to efficiency, health and dosing, but that's just me. you do have to trade off quick sessions with longer ones which was a pain for me in the beginning when I was still learning but honestly, I don't think its that big of a deal. vaping on higher temperatures could offset this as well so you get more dank in a shorter time frame.
What vape are you personally using, what would you recommend?
Also, is there a way to know the vape isn't producing enough vapor without a direct comparison? Maybe it's actually really good and I just can't use it properly yet?
I use the DaVinci Ascent which has served me well, pretty happy with it. not sure if I'd recommend it though as I'm sure there's plenty of new and exciting vapes out there in the same price class. I've heard positive things about Arizer's Air 2 and Solo 2 so those might be worth checking out. I've also heard people say good things about the Fury 2 by Healthy Rips if the other two I mentioned are a bit expensive.
to see if there's any vapor still coming off the weed, you could do a slow inhale for 2-3 seconds and exhale immediately to prevent absorption in the lungs. that should give you a clear indicator if there's vape or not coming off of it. another way to check is by exhaling through the unit instead of inhaling to see if there's any vapor coming out through the air intake. you could also simply turn up the temperature as soon as you're unsure and you'll be guaranteed more dank vapor.
I can definitely reccomend the Xmax Starry V2, no complaints and the swappable 18650 is fantastic. Great on a budget.
If you have more cash to blow, get a Mighty. Somewhere in between there is the boundless CFX which I've heard good things about, might even get it for the same price as the Starry, which is a great deal.
Just whatever you do, don't buy a MFLB or a PAX, the MFLB is a really inefficient design and gets easily outperformed by modern vapes for the same price and many people call the PAX the "Apple of vapes", good quality build but meh performance for a super high price.
Went down to FL and tried some Sativa dominate strains, not a huge fan, I dont get the hype over Indica
So I wanted to start buying from the web, but not really sure where to start. I get shorted by dealers and its a huge pain to find a dealer around here who doesnt expect you to drive to his sketchy ass neighborhood to pick some weed up. I figured web dealers have to keep up a certain standard since comments online are lot easier to spread around the client base.
This is super useful, can we pin this or add to the op?
essentials -
PGP - https://www.gpg4win.org/
Tor - Tor Project | Privacy Online
BTC wallet - https://electrum.org/#home
Place to buy BTC - https://localbitcoins.com/
Place to find markets / reviews - reddit? market list?
the links above are not specifically what you need but suggestions for what you can use except for TOR of course. I'd recommend sticking to localbitcoins as its somewhat more private than buying from an exchange. you'll find plenty of vendors who don't need no ID which is nice. finding markets and a central source of info about vendors is difficult these days. reddit banned the darknetmarket subs and no replacement is in effect as far as I know.
if you're feeling extra paranoid -
Tails - Tails
VPN - whatever you desire
Try to refrain from abroad purchases
while not mandatory, these are still some smart choices to make. you never know how much Microsoft knows about you. personally, I think WIndows works too but the paranoid side of me says better safe than sorry. VPN could also be smart but might be a little excessive too. it is also the wisest to order from in country. it is less regulated than international mail so the chance of it being intercepted drops a lot. I'm sure some countries are a lot more lax about incoming and outgoing mail which means you'll most likely be fine. you should read up on what people are saying about it, how safe it is and if people get their drugs intercepted.
if you're really extremely excessively paranoid -
Full-disk encryption
Burner laptop
personally, I wouldn't bother with these unless you're becoming a vendor. full disk encryption could be useful in the unlikely event you're raided, but if you follow the steps above that chance is highly reduced.
Speaking of tolerance breaks, i'm going on a week long break myself. Hash fucked it up 😢
BTW, do you have a source for that? I know that smoke gets absorbed almost instantaneously, which is why you shouldn't hold in the smoke when using combustion methods, but why does vapor take longer to absorb.
Or you can hold it in and give yourself temporary hypoxia which is usually pretty fun
From anecdotal experience myself and my mates we definitely find that vape needs to be held in for longer to get the maximum effect. We all hold smoke for 1-2 seconds but 6 seconds for vape
unfortunately no, I haven't been able to find a source on it right now other than anecdotal evidence. I do remember reading a scientific explanation for it before which was something about smoke getting absorbed faster due to the smaller particle size and vapor taking longer due to larger particle size. I don't remember if this was some random dude on reddit or if it was from a scientific paper so take it with a grain of salt.
whew, greened out yesterday. been struggling with anxiety while high so I've been trying to slowly challenge it to get back into it. been getting some nice results and some nice highs as a result but I got a little cocky last night and took way too much on my last session. it gets surprisingly psychedelic at higher doses and its easy to lose control of the thought flow. there was some beauty in it at least. music was bloody amazing and I felt god like amounts of chill. tho I started getting strong heart palpitations which was hard to ignore and since thoughts as well as emotions are amplified, it made the palpitations even worse. which in turn made me terrifyingly close to panic territory. good thing xanax exists for situations like these
you guys got any tips & tricks for this stuff? what I'm doing right now, easing back into it, seems to work fairly well but I'd also like to return to getting as high as the clouds as its amazing when it works out. I'm unsure if what I'm doing right now will be as effective with high doses as I tend to lose more control of where my thoughts go which makes it harder to pat myself on the back and tell myself I'm safe. I need to figure out how to challenge myself with being really high without entering a panic attack to prove to myself its okay.
Just bought 12 tabs of 100ug LSD. Never had it before so I'll drop a trip report later this week.
Don't smoke weed for sake of smoking weed. Get high then go out and do something. Go hiking, take pictures, even just walking around. It's summer! Be outside! Drive with the windows down and experience tht great music with friends while driving aimlessly. Go to the beach. Go to the woods. Do all this in one day. Dedicate your time to the experience, and distract yourself from the anxiety.
