• Our soul

I believe that there is something that makes us experience our conciousness, not really the general idea of a soul however.
I really hope they figure all this shit out before I die. The issue is that these questions are almost impossible to even approach. Sort of like being placed in a pitch black gymnasium with no knowledge of what is happening, and the only way out is a trapdoor in the ceiling 30 feet above.
Well, if we didn't have a soul, when we die are conscious would cease to exist. That is an extremely scary and depressing thought, so I try to believe we have some type of immortal soul, to avoid depression. If I'm wrong, who cares? I would be dead. It would be to late to think about anyway.
There is no logical reason to believe in a soul, so no, I do not believe in one.
But why? Are you using the idea of a soul to fill the void of not knowing how we work? It's ok to not know things. It's worse to pretend to know things when we don't.
aren't you kind of doing the same when you say "Our ability to think and feel can be explained with the physical world; even if we haven't been able to get all the details yet." ? You are no more confident that a soul doesn't exist as someone who believes there is a soul.
I dont believe in souls and out of body experiences are definetly not proof of them as I've had one from psychadelics

I am confident that the soul does not exist the same way I am confident that unicorns don't exist. If you strongly feel that souls do exist then feel free to post your opinion and a reason why. I may tell you that I disagree with your reasons and thus start a debate.
I don't believe a soul exists.
Your soul exists. Your soul is your mind, feelings, and thoughts.
What's the point in positing it's existence except just defining it as something else when all of the phenomenology is already expressed in different, more concise, less ambiguous terminology? It just muddies metaphysical discussion and it's hard enough as it is.
