So this is supported by Girl Scouts. Is it just me or is this organization sexist? It doesn't let in boys and it basically reinforces gender roles by mainly focusing on home-economics stuff.
naw, Girl Scouts are stereotyped as doing nothing but selling cookies but they're actually like their male counterpart in many ways except they don't force as much religion and politics down your throat.

Unfortunately, she was then immediately killed by Big Bossy.
I feel like the message should have been delivered to youth in general rather than just aimed at young girls. I just find it odd to imply "bossy" is mainly an insult to girls.
I don't use the word bossy because it's way easier to call people nobs.
Just call everybody who's bossy regardless of gender a shitface
problem solved
Cartman has a right idea :v:

It's posts like these that make me wonder if people still think that women are witches with special mind control powers.
You do realize they're trying to strongly discourage the word as a social change right? They're not trying to ban it outright.
I'm pretty sure feminists don't do anything about human trafficking. They just don't use tampons and believe everything with the word "man" in it is sexist.
i'm also sorry that those gosh darn imaginary feminists social justice feminazi insert-word-you-started-piggybacking-off-of you've encountered (through r/tumblrinaction, 4chan threads, and lmao pics) have bullied you and made you feel upset! maybe you can cheer up by owning them with an incredibly broad generalization that basically shits on everybody who agrees that sexism is an issue.

Whats with you guys and the whole Tumblr vs Reddit neckbeard thing? The social justice warrior stereotype actually exists.

Boy Scouts are about as bad if not worse tho, got out of that shit after a couple years
I think a better objective would be to try to have younger women accept the word bossy and say that's it a good thing, rather then try to "erase" it.
yeah but bossy ain't a good thing
It's basically a nice way to say someone's being a bitch.
yeah I don't get how sanitizing and changing the meaning of a word is better than encouraging people to change their attitude that's associated with the word. you'd just end up with people who still think she's "bossy" but now if they want to express that they'll just have to straight up call her "bitch"

Which would be a step up because then they'd be forced to realize that's what they're calling her or they'd be disliked more for being a straight asshole.

There are varying levels of "Hurtful language", all which convey basically the exact same meaning, but all of which give off very different tones, and tell the person exactly how you, as the speaker, are feeling.
I can call someone pushy, demanding, bossy, overcontrolling, or a bitch; all have the same meaning, but different delivery. I'd certainly want to be called bossy over being a bitch.
In the same way you can say someone's being not nice, hurtful, rude, mean, douchey, or an asshole.
Wanting language banned is a straight up cunt thing to do. Fuck your feelings, words don't exist to pander to you- don't want to be called bossy? Stop acting like a bitch. Don't try to implement newspeak (hint; doing this will also get you called a bitch)

I think it's really weird how most people have almost no grasp on how our constitution works or what it does.
Which would be a step up because then they'd be forced to realize that's what they're calling her or they'd be disliked more for being a straight asshole.
So get rid of a range of insults for people to use in exchange for everything being taboo, and then call people assholes when the only choice you've given them is to call a little girl a bitch? Do you think that'd actually work or is it just that any gendered insult automatically makes you an asshole?
You know how they started calling kids with disabilities "special", and then special became a bad word itself? Try and vilify bossy and you'll get girls mockingly referred to as little Princesses or whatever and then you'll complain about that word. This ain't gonna fix anything.
it's kind of like how you can call anyone a bitch / cunt but it has the sharpest implications when the subject is a woman
Under what context
because I call all my friends bitches regardless of gender
am i a sexist pig o no
the principle is that men who take charge are the boss, while women who take charge are more frequently known as bossy.
Really? In my experience; people just bitch about their bosses.
I don't get this.
Well, maybe it is because I don't get why you would call a woman 'bossy' instead of 'boss'(if she is indeed your boss)?
That doesn't seem very professional does it..
But anyway, banning the word Bossy would not solve anything.
However if has another purpose then just banning the word Bossy then it could be alright I suppose?

Man and here with your last comment I thought you were turning a new leaf
the principle is that men who take charge are the boss, while women who take charge are more frequently known as bossy.
I would not refer to a man taking charge as 'the boss'. Neither would I refer to a women taking charge as being 'bossy'.
Being a leader and being bossy are two entirely different things. One means someone taking charge for the betterment of the group, the other means someone taking charge for their personal benefits. Neither are gender specific. Someone in a group deciding 'First we'll do this, then we'll do that' when people can't come to an agreement, is being a leader. Someone yelling at the counter that a store clerk needs to hurry the fuck up with their caffe latte is being bossy.
My friends call me bossy sometimes and I don't like it so I would also like the word removed. I'm not a girl though so I don't know if it counts.
I'm actually kind of disappointed in myself for not noticing the irony of you calling them "bitches" in this post. It's literally the exact same principle. "Woman has an opinion and expresses that opinion? She's a bitch." When you say that you're intentionally calling forth the social stigma of a woman stepping out of her "place" and using that to discredit them.
yes x 100

Under lots of context duh
I was just arguing how "bossy" changes with context do you not think I understand that applies to all language
