The scene actually hit closer to home for me because when my daughter was born, she nearly died because the cord got wrapped around her neck. So every push meant strangling her in the process. C-section got her out safely though.
I guess for me the scene didn't seem that retarded per say. Just kind of a hokey concept. Glad it didn't make the final cut, that's depressing as fuck.
